The last time I looked at Converse shoes, they looked like they were having a serious identity crisis. Their classic shoes are still available but woof some of those newer offerings.
Converse is owned by Nike, which is probably why. Nike has gone downhill consistently over the years as well
Nike is in a bad state. Same four or five classic models in different colors year in year out. When was the last time they made a memorable new shoe? And on the more utilitarian side (running/workout shoes), the last few pairs I bought were straight up uncomfortable.
Not great.
Well they come up with models like the panda and take over the world, and sneaker heads keep buying jordans, airforces and dunks, resellers keep cleaning up every good drop. It means is still the most loved brand and many is the only go to. I think their most loved shoes are ugly and mid in confort and quality like the pandas. But they do have comfy and cute shoes like the skateboard line and they're cheaper. I don't know why is strange. But I yeah, regular nike is ass.
Pandas are fine, but it's just another color scheme on an old shoe.
It's not just Nike though. Our whole culture right now is remakes, prequels and sequels. We're not seeing a lot of originality anywhere.
