I was 10 years old when the ‘Ash Wednesday Hurricane’ of 1962 hit New Jersey and while I was out surveying the aftermath; seeing damaged homes, fallen trees, downed power lines and massive flooding I came across the face down body of man on the bank of a swollen creek. I rolled him over thinking I could somehow help him, but a piece of metal about the size of a lawnmower blade was impaled in his chest splashing bloody muddy water all over.
Just become a parent. In their babyhood, my children routinely emitted gross substances from both ends. I grew accustomed to handling shit and puke multiple times a day.
