what are you looking forward to right now?
Gig tomorrow night. Out of town. And our record is released tomorrow, too!
Congratulations!!!!!!
I remember getting out of work, packing up the van, and driving to Baltimore or DC to play a show. Then, after playing and getting drunk, packing it all up again, driving back home, unloading and falling asleep for 90 minutes before going back to work. NOW, between severe recurring pancreatitis and a spine that just plain sucks, I would probably just cry if I had to do it again. But, that was probably the most fun part of my adult life. Have a blast, man!

I love this!!
Awesome buddy, thanks for the new music
Wow! Thanks for sharing. I love the first track, will be putting this on our Australia Day playlist which is coming up the following Friday. We usually spend all day in the pool listening music. Can’t wait to check out the rest of the tracks.
Tomorrow night I am meeting my little sister at the airport. She’s a 68 year old nurse and has been volunteering in Mali. I haven’t seen her since 1981. On Saturday she’s meeting her nieces and nephews, their children and everyone’s spouses. She’s craving a NJ pizza so my dinner plan is easy. She’s staying at my daughter’s house until she goes back to Africa in two weeks. We were not talking after I left the family religion but she reached out. No problem.
Congratulations on mending fences.
Have a wonderful reunion with your sister 💕
How does one afford to volunteer for 40 years?
Christian Charities
Eating yesterday’s leftover panzerotti for lunch. As I read on a t-shirt once “Food has replaced sex in my life. Now I can’t even get in my own pants.”
😂
😂
I have never heard of panzerotti all I liked them up. They look delicious! What kind of stuffing is in yours?
Well, my husband picked this one out so it was all meat - LOL. Pepperoni, ham, sausage and bacon, I believe. When I order one, I usually get roasted red peppers, olives, onions and roast chicken, which I know sounds weird but it’s pretty good. Anything good on pizza is good for panzerotti, which is basically a deep-fried calzone.
I did not realize they were deep-fried! That sounds even better! I think I would prefer one with more veggies than meat too.
Oh man I haven’t had one of those in years!! I’d kill for one right now. I used to get them at the Italian festival in Wilmington Delaware every year. I may have to start going again
😂 right there with ya 😂
Getting through my 3-day chemo session by resting lots, eating my recommended low-fibre diet, and talking to my counsellor.
Hugs to you. I hope you beat this.
Man, I went through that too. It sucks but you’ll make it.
Well, hopefully for 5-10 years at least! Thank you.
Sending you love, hugs and strength. 🙏
Sounds like you're doing all the right things. It's a lot to go through; may it be comfortable and healing.
Thanks so much. Trying to keep my chin up for the most part!
Retirement ... in 60 months 12 days 22 hours 39 minutes 30 seconds, but who's counting?
"Golden Handcuffs"
Boy, I wish they are golden handcuffs. They are more like silver (even copper) handcuffs ... aka state pension. In 60 months, that's when I have enough points to start to collect the pension!
Although, I had a dream that they were golden handcuffs and then I woke up!
Counting down to my state pension and health insurance (that doesn't seem to cover much, but yet I seem to think this is a good deal)
How long is it until June 28th? That's the date I officially become a retiree and move to Florida!
You lucky duck, you! Congrats! In the words of the kids nowadays, "I'm jelly!"
I did it 6 months ago, you won’t regret it
Breakfast.
Egg over medium rye toast Home fries Coffee
My hearing aid will be in and my appointment to have it fitted is February 7th.
It’s a bicros, which means it’s a microphone on my deaf ear and a receiver and hearing aid on my hard-of-hearing side. So I’ll be able to hear ALL THE THINGS!
I’m excited for you!
Spring....January and February suck!
Agreed!
So ready for the damn snow and ice to melt !!! Tired of looking at it already.
Another cup of hot tea and a fresh blueberry muffin I just took out of the oven..
Going for lunch at a brewery in a Honduran jungle.
Very cool
Digging a wildlife pond at the farm. Planting fruit trees in the spring. Scuba trip in feb. Making carbonara for a friends birthday tomorrow night. The end of dry January. 🍷
Total eclipse of the sun this coming spring 🤓
Seeing the last one was completely worth it.
This year not sure whether I'll make the effort though.
When growing up there were decades of no total eclipses in the same hemisphere... now a number of them!
Where are you going to see it from? I've had plane tickets and an Airbnb for Austin booked so long that I'm sure something will hiccup.
Here in central Indiana is gonna be awesome… total eclipse…
Eating a meal after my colonoscopy today! Then going to a funeral. But then another meal!
Cataract surgery, hopefully soon. Look forward to being able to see.
Spring.
My husband just got his done and now he only needs readers, he’s so excited. Best of luck!
Thanks!
I had both of my eyes done 3 years ago. It was night and day for me. I was very pleased with the results!
Thanks, I love to hear that.
Colors! Colors are FANTASTIC after cataract surgery!
I'm getting that done also.
Morning coffee, my wife smiling at me. It's the little things.
Edibles.
There's no time like the present!
Runs and rips bag open. Thanks, friend!
Can we talk about the struggles to open an edible bag?
We can. I had arthritis attacks were my hands were so fucked up that the struggle was real.
Multiple scissors in every room makes my life sooooo much easier.
Why does it have to be so hard?
The "reason", they claim, is to keep kids out. If this was 1988, my nanna would probably just hand the bag to my tweenie self and order me to open it for her. Grandpa, too. Except he would probably let me have a little piece, too.
I mean, it's not like it's Tylenol
No, but a 6 year old after eating a bag of eddies does not a fun time make.
Can't get edibles here in England unfortunately. But I have a large spliff waiting to be lit by me at 6pm. I'm looking forward to that
May I come over please????
After 40+ years in TX leaving this summer.
A successful surgery so I can be active again. I want to hike again, get on my bike again, and load up the kayak and hit the lake.
Same, I have surgery in a little over a week. Just want to get it done so I can heal up and get back to cycling.
ETA: good luck, I hope everything goes well for you!
My elderly father is in a nursing home with dementia, so I travel every month or so to spend a week in my hometown, which is about a five-hour drive. Right now, I'm so looking forward to being back home with my husband and my dog. I love my father, and I will treasure these moments together even though they're pretty one-sided. But going back and forth, trying to work remotely from a makeshift home office, is draining.
Everything about what you’re doing is draining. I wouldn’t wish that crap on anybody. Though the rare moments of lucidity are wonderful, every other aspect of it is torturous for everybody. My father passed from Alzheimer’s a few years ago. I’m an only-child. No part of that was fun.
Thank you. It is such a cruel, devastating disease. I wouldn't wish it on anyone either.
A dreadful monster that dementia is for sure! Lost my dad last March who was riddled with it. Check out r/dementia if you ever need to vent or cry.
A nap...
Me too.
Having my plain oatmeal for lunch. When you're trying to lose weight and limiting your calories even plain oatmeal tastes good.
Have you tried adding a teeny bit of apple cider vinegar to the oats before cooking? Even half of a teaspoon makes all the difference. The oatmeal becomes runny instead of clumpy and dry
My daughter is getting married in March to a man we really like. Her wedding shower is a week from Saturday and I’m really enjoying being the mother of the bride!
Riding my bicycle this Spring
Next week when the weather warms up.
The SAME! It’s been below zero all week
It's finally back up in the 20s were I live and I'm psyched! How sad is that?
I’m right there with you.
Retirement.
It’s worth the wait.
As a self-employed person I am never retiring. I forgot to make money for too many decades.
Just ordered an inflatable hot tub, so that should be neat to play with and setup this weekend.
Having some friends over for drinks and games tomorrow night which is always fun.
Headed to a wedding in Arizona at the end of Feb. and then bouncing from there to Punta Cana for 6 days. That should be amazing.
Starting to plan our spring/summer camping trips and adventures.
We may be headed to Iceland in the fall, just for the heck of it.
iceland is worth the visit, and the fall is shoulder season, so that's a good time. it's brisk enough to let you know how close you are to the artic circle, but not yet cold enough to be miserable.
We were planning to go in March and then it blew up so we are still kinda playing it by ear. I'll go in the dead of winter...doesn't bother me :) but it may be nice to go when it's a bit less chilly. We will pack our winter gear and have fun regardless.
Well this sounds just fucking amazing. Enjoy!
Thanks! Life is amazing...gotta live it.
My next SS deposit.
Reading the comments has been inspiring.
I'm retiring from the fire department in 24 days. That's 9 actual work days, 216 hours! Not that I'm counting or anything.
Thank you for the years of hard work and risk and I hope you have an amazing retirement, you deserve it!
Thank you! The hard work wasn't the job, it was the living frugally, squirreling away money, and paying off all debt, while raising a large family that was the hard part. Well, actually that was 90% my wife's hard work. But it is going to allow us to live just fine on my not insubstantial, but still fairly small pension. I got VERY lucky in life, and I need to remember that fact more often.
Having a soup party this weekend with friends. Everyone brings soup and to-go containers. Then, we all get to take leftovers home!
Great party idea!
Friday night first date with an awesome new dude. I've been obsessed all week and am over planning. Got my lashes done. Doing Pedi and Mani. Changed my outfit 100 times. Went shopping. Still not sure about jewelry. Did I mention I like him?
Did you shave your legs? Always a true indicator.
It's not until Friday so im just exfoliating and saving the shave for final preparations! But. He only gets to see. :D
They've retrofitted a Canadian icebreaker called the Beauport of the Seas to be a luxury yacht. It's stationed here in Cozumel and we will have a romantic dinner tomorrow night.
Sleeping in tomorrow 😴
Retirement on 12/31/2024. My husband and I are the last of our friends to still be working!
Congrats. It's wonderful; you'll love it.
Nate Bargatze at Prudential Center in Newark tonight.
Upcoming trip to Iceland with my sister, to look for northern lights!
I'm on vacation in Belize. Getting ready to mix a cocktail and head to the pool.
Retirement. In 13 more years.
breakfast. i've started "intermittent fasting." it's going well, but i'm ready to eat. this black coffee is helping, though.
the gym after work. my wife at home after that. we're gonna have some mahi on a salad. haven't had seafood in a while, so that will be good.
then the weekend in a couple days. haven't had a "regular" weekend in months, so unless a surprise happens, that should be relaxing.
then monday night we're having dinner with some friends we haven't seen in too long.
Going to the Dominican Republic next week. This past week has been an absolute raging cuntbag, and I can't wait to get through it and get the hell out of here for a while.
Chiefs V. Bills game on Sunday.
Go Chiefs!
Luring cardinals to my backyard bird feeder

Lunch and The Price is Right.
My next successful breath
I’ve just invested $23 on the best purchase in years, a heating wrap for home brewing, so I can make mead all Winter!
I was bummed that I could not indulge my homebrewing addiction when it was cold, we keep our house so chilly the yeast can’t do its job, so this inexpensive little carboy heater is a game changer!
Sleep and quiet. I’ve had the Endless Cold with the associated Great Mucosity, finally ebbing. And I need a haircut as I’m looking a bit too shaggy.
I (52F) am looking forward to snuggling with my son when he gets home from school then making him some hot cocoa. It’s cold here! We’re probably going to put a LEGO SET together afterwards. P.S. It’s not creepy: he is 12 and special needs.
We are going minimalist. I'm getting rid of stuff we've gained in the last 20 years. I'm looking forward to a minimalist house and life. Decluttering more than just stuff.
Warmer weather
My 9th grandbaby due in May.❤️
Baseball seasom
A cruise
Power coming back on.
Hope it's back by now!
We both just retired (early) - I worked hard, saved hard, and paid my dues. Now I’m looking forward to the 100% self-directed adventure that is the rest of my life.
My elbow healing so I can ditch this sling. Slipped on ice at the Grand Canyon and broke my arm. First broken bone at 56 🙄
A nap
Mid-day nap.
Seeing my family.
Dinner
The next snow storm thats on its way. 5 or 6 inches isnt much, but its all we get now if we are lucky. The storm we had last week was awesome! I got to go 4 wheelin busting drifts and took my daughter to the parking lot so she could learn how to do donuts! I love winter!
Retirement and buying a homestead where I can walk outside and be in nature. No cities. Fewer straight people. I wanna go where MY people are, and I have a place in mind.
D&D group's every other Saturday in person game in a couple days
I play Magic The Gathering with my son each month--we have a blast! I used to play D&D back in college (many moons ago--1976)
Moving to a new state and a new love. 💘
I'm about to go to town on se tuna salad and crackers.
Focusing on prepping for retirement financially. Maximizing my 401k, tightening up my spending, and building up my savings. Retirement is still a bit of a ways out but my husband retired earlier than we expected (he’s a bit older than I am and was an ER nurse during the worst of the pandemic).
I'm looking forward to NOT going on the date that I just canceled. And not getting any more texts from that dude because, no chemistry on my side
Aw, I'm sorry it didn't pan out. Good on you for listening to your instincts.
A Tunnel of Fudge cake made from a recipe that my mom had. It has 49 more minutes in the oven, then is “supposed” to cool for two hours.
then is “supposed” to cool for two hours.
Hahaha, I know how that never happens in my house, I hope you can protect it for a couple of hours so everything sets well, it sounds amazing.
I am so excited, in February we're going to Egypt for two weeks.
I've wanted to do this for 40 years and seven months ago we finally decided to do it. We booked a private tour through Odynovo, and we'll have our very own personal guide and chauffeur. We'll be visiting Cairo, Saqqara, Luxor and Aswan seeing the pyramids, taking a hot air balloon ride over Luxor, and cruising up the Nile on a dahabiya for five nights.
Years ago we went through India and Pakistan on a bus and stayed at 1 and 2 star hotels. Been there, done that. This time we're going fancy.
Getting into bed tonight and snuggling with my dogs. It's what I live for.
Hawaii in 2 weeks
It's 14 degrees here (farenheit) with almost two feet of snow. I'm looking forward to May.
Our 2 week vacation.
Getting back from my husbands dr appt. We haven’t left yet. Lol
Going to work at a part time job I like with coworkers I love. Several trips planned. Spring. Maybe grandchildren someday. Dinner out with friends.
Hiking the Grand Canyon R2R in 2025 w my bestie. (Training hard and trying not to die) Reunion cruise with sorority sisters I haven’t seen in almost 40 years.
Hot showers. Old fashioneds. Sitting in front of fire. Playing music with friends. Eucharist. Waking in the woods with my friend and her dog. Cuddles with Hubs. Hot tubbing. Visiting wineries, coffeehouses and breweries. Sliced apples. Autumn leaves. New friends. Books, podcasts, binge watching.
Selling my house, Ridgeline, 300, tools, expensive lawnmower back to the company, and moving closer to family by summer.
Spring! Im currently stuck at home because there’s so much snow and ice.
spring - golf
Lunch (leftovers)
Traveling to Mexico in a month.
Meeting cousins for a visit Saturday. Lunch is at a brewery we all enjoy.
Traveling. The answer is always traveling. Boston in March. OBX in May. Jersey shore later in summer. Maybe Florida in fall.
Right this second? Lunch. 😋
Chocolate ice cream
I'm planning to do some car camping. I've done enough travel overseas and feel it's time to explore the US, so I've been watching videos of car campers to get ideas of how to convert my Subaru and hit the road.
Finally having Christmas with our kids on Saturday.
My husband is making tacos for dinner!
Spring and seeing Orbital in Chicago!
Got an ice cream maker attachment for my mixer. It is chilling in the freezer now. Trying to decide on flavors. Some thoughts:
French vanilla bean
Banana
Caramel swirl/ crunch
Black sesame
Matcha
Any suggestions?
Retirement in 6 months.
Taking the grandkids to Eleuthera
Sunday. It's been crazy cold where I live, and the temps are supposed to dip down again tonight and through Saturday.
My house isn't well insulated--I purchased it in May 2023--and my pipes froze.
Thank God the coming deep freeze is only for a 36-hour period.
One of the same things I look forward to on most days: the passing of our 21 year old cat who is, currently, more or less healthy. Until that time, because she is deaf, has a bit of dementia, and screams bloody murder somewhere between 3 am and 5 am EVERY DAY, we cannot board her nor ask a pet sitter to stay with her. And that means no travel, anywhere. We have the money, we have the time and we have the cat. So. Damn. Frustrating.
Getting off work and heading to the thrift store!
Homemade enchiladas for dinner.
Hope that pain stops with death.
Summer. I hate winter.
Serenity now!
Early retirement. I’m purchasing 2 service years towards my pension and setting May 2025 as my retirement date!
My Stair Lift is being installed tomorrow. This will be great because I have fallen twice in the last two weeks. Once on the kitchen floor and the other on the fourth step from the bottom of the stairs. You really should try that when you're 72. The stair fall F---ked the rotator cuff in my left shoulder but at least now it matches the rotator cuff tear I put in my right shoulder 2 years ago. So I do have something to look forward to.
starting a vintage fashion line, among other creative projects. Having been a teenager in the 70s.
In the short term, a snowboarding trip with friends to Utah. In the long term, I’m looking forward to this election year being over, and hopefully the demise of DJT.
Dinner - I work remote, and am at my mom’s today. She’s a super cook
A good bowel movement
Meeting up with a guy across the country I talk to regularly at work. We have so many things in common, we became friendly, then started a friendship and now we're feeling more. Life doesn't end til you're in the dirt 💯.
My 70th birthday next week!
Nothing 😕
GTA 6
retiring
I’m going to Ethiopia on Tuesday to do some touring, then on to a Uganda lodge to see gorillas in a forest.
Taking a visit to the beach next week.
