My boyfriend and I are travelling to LA in a couple weeks from Canada. We only have 3 full days in LA. Our first day we plan on doing the Hollywood sign walk, the walk of fame. Second day we plan on going to Beverly Hills to check out rodeo drive and than going to Santa Monica and Venice beach for the rest of the day. What should we do on day 3? Any suggestion? We are both 20 years old so can’t drink or go to bars. Basically just going to hit the main attractions, people watch, hopefully spot some celebrities…
Unless you want to spend money on an expensive dinner somewhere, I’d write off the celebrity thing. And even then.
Day 3 I’d say go to Fairfax, see LACMA (the lights or what’s available), the tar pits, walk up to The Grove (you’ve seen it in lots of your favorite TV shows/movies … and I guess there’s always a chance of seeing a celeb there, I nearly bumped into Tom Felton because I was late for a movie). Get lunch at the Farmer’s Market, do some window shopping, and then keep heading north up Fairfax to Melrose. You’ll pass a bunch of famous shops, and maybe there will be some huge sneaker drop idk what the kids are up to.
Then there are lots of fun stores on Melrose and places to stop for more trendy snacks.
I lived in LA by LACMA and went around there, The Grove, the farmer's market, and Beverley Grove all the time - didn't see a single celeb the entire year I lived in LA (SAGAFTRA was literally on the way too!)
On the other hand, I know someone who visited LA for 2 days and went to Malibu on a whim and saw Adam Sandler on the beach
OP - LACMA and the Petersen museum are great if you like museums, I liked the tar pits and Pan Pacific Park well enough. Deffo recommend The Grove and the Farmer's market. If you/your SO are Star Wars / Star Trek nerds then check out the Scum And Villainy Cantina on Hollywood Blvd when you visit, you don't have to be 21 to enter afaik and they have great non alcoholic options
really? I feel like I see one every time I drive by the farmers market, up to melrose lol
Hi! I'm offering access to Waymo driverless cars 🚗 in Los Angeles. They can take you anywhere in the city. Feel free to call or text me at 323-538-5642 whenever you need a ride. Safe travels and enjoy your stay! 🌟
That hood is so great!
Yes LACMA w Grove/Farmer's Market is a GREAT "tourist stop" than so many locals enjoy!
Perhaps my most trafficked stretch when I want to do groceries/dinner and a movie/mall type shopping, a good hub to other things mid-city/Wilshire/Melrose 👍🏽
My go to movie theater if I’m not going to see something special up at the Chinese Theater
Perfect answer.
My sister, 12 years younger than me so she’s a cool 20 something, loved this. I tried to plan a whole lot of dramatic fun stuff, but I could tell the highlight was this day. She got to do all her hip shopping, and then in the evening we took her to the Arclight on Sunset and saw a movie.
And I guess she wore all her Fairfax/Melrose gear back at college, so that made me the cool older sibling for a while 😂🩷
I've never been to the tar pits as I feared it's for kids. Is it fun for a non-kid-having adult?
Honestly, it’s just part of a walk. I think it’s pretty cool and I like seeing the excavation, the pits themselves, and I enjoyed going through the museum the one time I did. I think going around that whole area and stopping in at one of them (the Academy Museum!) is worth your time. Seeing the outdoor exhibits and art are worth it if you’re looking for something to do.
It's more about the entire one stop complex. Tar Pits are a blip! Multiple museums w LACMA, Petersen etc (Google Museum row) and it's close to great We Ho eats, as well as The Farmers Market, the Grove, Beverly/Melrose eats and shops, not even far from the Beverly Center.
I have done none of these but now you've convinced me. I live an hour drive away if that's any excuse...
Poking a stick into the tar that bubbles out of the ground is a rite of passage
Use to be you could always count on one celebrity and Vince Vaughn at the 101 Diner. But at this point it’s probably been 12 years or more since I’ve been there.
Their fries were great tho.
