IF THIS POST IS STILL UP - I HAVE GUEST PASSES AVAILABLE STILL

I've used this myself when buying appliances in the past and the savings vs. many other stores is anywhere from 10-50%… and you're buying direct from the manufacturer. Brands that you can buy are Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid, Whirlpool.

Hope I am able to help people save a few bucks on a good manufacturer of appliances.

My food tastes like the inside of my dishwasher

Lately, anything I cook or store food in tastes like my dishwasher. We use Finish pods and a normal or heavy cycle, but the food still tastes like the dishwasher. Why?

Are Steam Closets Worth Buying Yet?

So I came across a few steam closets the other day, and did some research into it. It looks like a very interesting piece of tech as someone who has unknowingly purchased several dry clean only garments. But can't decide if it is a piece of tech that's already good enough as is, or if a few more years of development are needed before its capabilities triple.

side note, what are other new applicances worth keeping an eye on but not at the stage where the masses should pull the trigger?

Who actually honors their warranties?

I'm buying appliances for a new build and we need to select our microwave immediately so that the cabinet installer can use the measurements, and the rest of our appliances pretty soon. I've done some research and found for example that LG's warranty is relatively long but they're not exactly dependable when it comes to honoring it.

That all said, which companies have you found to offer decent warranties and keep their word if you need to use it?

Washing machine question for current residence/future rental.

I have a condo in LA and I am currently living in it. I don’t intend to live here forever - maybe another 1-2 years before holding on to this place as a rental long term. I had an old Frigidaire unit here that ran on a single 240V plug.

I need to buy a new washer dryer unit and only have space for a tower. I am looking for advice on if I should buy a LG wash tower or if I should buy one of those single unit things from Frigidaire, GE, etc.

Any rec for brands are also appreciated.

So here are the pros/cons

Pros LG Wash tower (https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-wkex200hba-washtower) - newer, nicer.

Cons - I will need to get a 120 V (I’ve gotten two quotes for around $475) - more tech = more issues that can arise and more headaches I will get from any future tenants from them not taking care of it/just more things that can break

Frigidaire Unit (https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-3-8-cu-ft-Washer-5-9-cu-ft-Electric-Dryer-Combo-in-White-GUD27ESSMWW/303516041)

Pros -cheaper - less things that can break - existing plug that’s already there

Cons - the machine is very basic and won’t be as interesting for when I’m living here.

FYI if you are eligible for the extra year warranty from LG!

I was browsing around my ThinQ app and my appliance showed only a one year warranty even though I qualify for the free second year. I began to research and found out you need to file a “claim” to get the free second year of warranty. The process is as follows:

  1. Go to https://appliance.lg-promos.com/thinq/thinq/

  2. Fill out your information including proof of purchase, and submit. You will receive a confirmation number via email and shortly you will receive another email saying it was approved. The second email will give you your new warranty expiration date.

Can I use a slide in range with a piece of granite behind it? Also, need 2 large burners

I have a 2005 fridgidaire electric slide in range and the control board slot for the oven burned out. I can't seem to find a new control board so I need a new range. Do I have to remove the granite from behind my slide in? My current slide in has a lip with no edge (sad this broke because of that). All of the new slide in ranges I see are with some slotted vent in the top back. Do I have to use that part?

Also, does any brand make 2 large front burners that are dual burners? I'm so bummed because my current cooktop has all 4 dual burners with the 2 front being 9" and 2 back being 7" I cook for 4 people, sometimes 5 most days and need large burners.

Finally, a big solid drawer. My drawer now is nice and solid and DEEP. I can't find any that have a deep bottom drawer.

1200 give or take price range because the only really good ranges are way over my budget in the 8k plus range. 😥 Thanks!

GE Fridge - Loud Pulsating Noise

Hello everyone. I recently bought a brand new fridge about 6 months ago which has recently started giving me issues. It makes a very loud whirring sound. This noise sometimes persists for hours at a time and then will sometimes just stop for a day or longer and eventually start back up again (it is very annoying of course)

Brand - GE Model - GNE25JYKFS Description - GE 24.8-cu ft French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker and Water dispenser (Stainless Steel) ENERGY STAR

I have already tried turning the ice maker off and double-checking the water line. I also took the back panel off to see if anything was obviously wrong, but the sound seems to be coming from above where the back panel is located, inside the fridge if that makes sense. The noise also does not stop when the fridge is open.

My best guess is maybe something is wrong with the evaporator fan, but I thought I would ask before taking the freezer backing off.

Any advice would be appreciated.

LG never again

Have LG microwave/oven combo, 2 years old. Microwave stopped working, seemed like the magnetron. Ok, should be under warranty. Call LG. $350 just to come out, diagnose, and determine if it's under warranty. Plus I'd need to take a day off work to babysit tech. No thanks. Went to order replacement part from LG, $100. Went to Amazon, and same part $50. Decided to DIY and now it's working. LG sucks. Money grubbing. This is 2 months after I DIY replaced recirculating pump on 2 yo dishwasher. Never buying LG anything ever again.

Samsung Top Washer Keeps Going into Self Clean mode? Help???Samstung :(

So I just switched from Tide pods (due to severe allergic rash breakout) to a Sensitive skin liquid Arm and Hammer detergent. I used the Auto Detergent cup slot thingy, but something weird keeps happen.

So it will wash my clothes, but somewhere during the rinse cycle it automatically switches to Self Clean mode and pauses my laundry? But then it doesn't Self Clean, it just sits there and unlocks? So I take my clothes out, they smell like they were washed but they're wetter than normal (hence why I think it's happened during the rinse cycle) I tested it 3 times in a row, same thing keeps happening

Is it telling me to Self clean or is it something else?? I'm used to Whirlpool so this is all new to me

Mini fridge cooled to 35, then has stayed between 45-50

Danby DAR044A8BBSL

Hello! I'm very confused about this issue as the fridge did indeed reach around 35°F but then stayed around 45°F - 50°F.

I cleaned it out and defrosted the inside. While cleaning the metal drip pan I noticed it was cracked. I put it back in and turned it back on and left the fridge empty while it started to cool. I put in a thermostat and it shows that the temperature did go down to about 35°F with around 20% humidity. Then it suddenly started going up and went up to between 45°F to 50°F and about 65% humidity. I put things inside the fridge and it cooled down and has stayed between 45°F to 50°F and humidity 30% to 90% I know it cools down to 35°F, why did it suddenly spike up and not cool down to 35°F anymore?

Washer dryer leak

My washer dryer combo leaked through the upstairs ceiling to the downstairs when I tried emptying the filter and water came out. I mopped what I could right away. A small puddle downstairs. The ceiling has no wet marks. I mopped around the unit but couldn't reach under it.

I am running a big fan. Do I need to notify my landlord? Is there water damage from a small leak that lasted 1 min? Thanks

How proud of the adjacent counters does a single door fridge need to be for the door to open, and how does this vary depending on the side clearance?General Advice

We'd like to build a recess into the wall to push the front of the fridge closer to the counter edge, but we're not sure how far back we can recess the fridge, and how this is affected by the side to side clearance.

This is the fridge in question.

WTB Fridge & Stove 60s-70s. No Energy Star BS.

Title says it all. I'm tired of buying new appliances every 8 years. My parents have the same stuff they bought in the 70s still working reliably. Where can I buy older working appliances?
