So I used to be a huge fan of Google Play Music... best streaming app on the market, hands down. You could upload your own MP3 library and it would include your own uploaded tracks alongside streaming tracks when making instant playlists, so I could click on one of my songs and generate an auto playlist and discover new, similar artists. It was awesome. Then Google decided to gut it and remove all the best features, and now it's almost impossible to access your own uploaded MP3s. They clearly want people to pay to subscribe and not listen to their own music. It's awful, and I'm ready to finally jump ship.
I'm debating between Spotify and Apple Music. My question is how the Apple Music uploads work. I still have an old iTunes library on my Macbook, but all the files are located on an external hard drive.
If I pay for Apple Music, can I still access those personal mp3s from my Apple Music/iTunes library, even if my Macbook is turned off and the external drive isn't connected? Does it upload all my music to the cloud? How easy is it to access your personal uploaded MP3's from within the iPhone app?
Thanks!
