Anyone know what Eritrean man was wearing? Very nice
I’m Eritrean but I’m not too familiar with the name of the suit but the red robe he’s wearing is called a kaba. It’s worn on special occasions in both Eritrean/Ethiopian culture.
The special occasion is specifically Weddings. For normal people, it is supposed to be worn on weddings in church. That is where Kaba for the entire villages used to be kept and the priests would put it on the couple when they are performing the covenant of marriage. I have also seen couple celebrating milestone anniversary wear it. Nowadays, churches have their own and couples buy or rent for further celebrations as shown in the video above. Elites and chosen village elders had their version without a lot of embellishments, mostly plain black, and Dino that is more embellished. The suit is a modern Kidan habesha. Traditionally in Tigrinya we wear Ejetebab.
🇪🇷! They need to show the Tsada Kidan on day 2!
