To the pedestrians who walk along the TorrensDiscussion

Why are half of you always so shocked/surprised when I ring my bell? It's neither loud nor intimidating.

Why do nearly all groups of you scatter in all directions rather than moving left? At least it's kind of amusing.

Why do some people with dogs on leads acknowledge my presence but not shorten their lead and allow their dog to run in front of me anyway? I slow down to a crawl, but I still don't want to hit your dog.

Love sharing the path with you - it's a lovely spot - but lol. A bike should be expected, and giving me space should be easy.

UPDATE: Attack on GrenfellDiscussion

UPDATE: We know who she is now. We’ve found videos of her online assaulting multiple people and doing other crimes (arson, vandalism).

It’s now up to the prosecution if there is enough evidence to arrest her. She is 14/15 years old.

Who leaves on-time or waits for peak hour to die down before leaving work? Discussion

Genuinely curious on who is a “Get the fuck out of work as soon as I clock off.” Or is a “I’ll just wait 15-30 minutes because traffic sucks ass.” Kinda person.

Everything went to absolute s&$# today Discussion

To start off, my car wouldn't start in the morning ( doesn't like the cold ) so had to run nextdoor to jump start it. That resulted in me being late to work so I got barked at for that. So when I finally did arrive to work I had to catch up with pissed off everyone working with me. Ended to loosing 15kgs of product from tripping over ( didn't hurt myself ) ended up working through my break to try and catch up to no avail. So everyone else had to stay behind because I was behind. Then on my way home I stopped into Bunnings to get a jump starter so I'd be prepared for next time it happens. And they've all sold out. Like I'm not a suicidal person, but times like this I think to myself wouldn't I be better off if I just died?

Thoughts on Old Reynella/Reynella Question

FHB & some properties in the Reynellas are within budget. I don't know anyone who lives there so would like to ask for feedback on what it's like to live there, particularly how easy or hard it is to go to the CBD (I have a hybrid work arrangement & go in a couple of days a week), safety, general convenience, and anything else you think is worth considering.

Is Paradise a safe suburb?Question

Read very mixed opinoin on this, some guy got killed there with a machete aparently but that was 2013. Follow up question, is there anything about it that vaguely warrants the name?

Mannix have quoted me $12,600 for a new split system are the pulling my leg?Question

I have 3 unis in each room and the box itself is mounted on the roof. Mannix said they'd need to hire a mini crane to remove the old one and install the new one, in addition to flushing through the pipes. $12,600 is the number the sales rep came up with for a Mitsubishi unit, is this about right? Seems very steep.

Eastern suburbs PizzaQuestion

Can anyone recommend a pizza place in the eastern suburbs and beyond that won't disappoint...? Please don't recommend if you haven't been recently... I'm after up to date intel. I've had bad a run of really disappointing pizzas lately. It seems a some of my local go tos have either changed hands and/or the quality has gone downhill. Sign of the times I guess.... I just want good pizza 😪🍕 is it too much to ask?

It terrifies me that we need a "wear your seatbelt" ad campaignSelf

The fact there are enough people who don't do this, that warrants a broad cross platform campaign, is both bewildering and frightening

I want to make my own fried rice. Where can I buy the tiny shrimp instead of prawns?Question

Best Ramen in Adelaide?!Discussion

Title says it all! Happy to travel if it's THAT good, but preferably CBD. Bonus if they're generous with the meat/protein.

Umai on Union Street is a current fave

Motorcycle services in CBD, in 1990sQuestion

In the early 1990s, there was a motorcycle repair/wreckers Motorcycle Services, around Wright Street from memory. The business was in a factory unit. What was remarkable, was there was a steel hulled yacht in there the proprietor (Mr Wallace?) was building, and it was often several visits before you noticed it, as the yacht towered over head. Does anyone remember this? More importantly, was the yacht ever finished?

So many yachts never were finished. There was a ferro cement hull on Glen Osmond Road and there is a hull on Lady Gowrie Drive at Taperoo, which has been there forever.

Just moved here with no driver's licence, how f'd am I? Question

Moved here for at least 6 months (genuinely enjoying it so far!) however I've never learned how to drive and I doubt I'll be able to get a P1 in the time I'll be here. I've lived In Melbourne and Sydney with heaps of Public Transport. Strange thing about those two cities is that Google is straight up wrong when estimating public transportation journey times. Is it the same here? Would it be best to get a bicycle? Or is transport good? I've heard 1 trip on the bus is 5 bucks too, which seems a bit steep!

Help finding rat breedersQuestion

I’ve stayed up all night searching for Fancy Rat breeders in Adelaide, I don’t want to get them from a pet shop because they’re usually not trained to take care of rats properly and I don’t want their lifespan to be cut short because of that. Any assistance would be amazing, as long as they’re in the greater Adelaide area it’s fine. Thank you!

Be cautious of Metropolitan Plumbing and ElectricalAssistance

Hi unfortunately Metropolitan Plumbing and Electrical have been on A Current Affair multiple times known for charging 10x reasonable cost (do a Google search to find out more). If this has been your experience it is important to report them. There are 3 simple actions you can take. 1) Report through a simple online form to SA Business and Consumer services: https://forms.sa.gov.au/#/form/63572d8cad9c5c780c5f6ed5/app/665bac310a58828e636e7479

2) Report also through a simple online form to the ACCC: https://www.accc.gov.au/about-us/contact-us-or-report-an-issue/report-a-consumer-issue#form

3) Write by email to a member of Parliament - I suggest in particular for South Australians SA independent Member of Parliament Frank Pangallo who had a long career as a journalist including hosting the current affairs program Today Tonight: [email protected]

Also consider letting A Current Affairs or other media outlet know of your similar experience to what they have reported for any follow up media attention of these practices: https://9now.nine.com.au/a-current-affair/tell-us-your-story

It is important for our voices to be heard and the more people lodging complaints will increase the likelihood of action and this company continuing price gouging hard working Australians.

In particular if you have had a failed safety switch and told you need to pay thousands to fix it under threat you are not legally compliant although other electricians charge in the low hundreds - this is unfortunately a common experience. If you felt pressured, confused or fear tactics were used to get you to agree to the work then this is against the law. Please take 10 minutes to complete the steps above to report.
