I like your way of thinking !
The only thing that bothers me is that it looks less finished and I'm afraid people will think I took a shortcut but it's quite the opposite.
Fun facts, none of those two black parts are painted. Only sanded and buffed. It looks and feel like an injection part !
So the reason I suggested the dried blood is the whole point of weathered look. When you go for this style, you want it to tell a story. The time you were in a fight with Sabertooth. Dried blood, maybe the left side is a little more dirty and sanded down because you were knocked down and slid across the ground. Etc
Very interesting, I didn't try to weather the black at all. I'll continue my story !
Do you think the wings should be "metal" (so chipping and stuff) ou more like a composite ? It will affect my direction. So far I aim towards the composite for this particular cowl
So unless you're very good with special effect painting, I wouldn't go too fast, just enough so that if anyone wants to stop you and look at it you can be like, yes, I got that from the fight blah blah blah. I think a composite to fit the bill. Metal scratches and bends, that would be a harder story to tell. Composite holds and gets grainy and dirty, which is what I think you're going for.
Brilliant ! Thank you so much for your valuable input, I really appreciate it !
Of course. I'd love to see the finished product.
Sure ! I'll post an update. It will take a while. I am working on the full suit and I really want to be coherant
I'll be sure to tag you :)
Hey I finished weathering my wolverine cowl. I'm very proud of the result. I hope you'll like it !
I printed many samples and did a lot of sanding, priming, sanding, filling, sanding, painting, sanding, clearing, buffing and I like where it's at
I'm still torn between satin black and the current post-apocalyptic look
Please let me know what you think !
It's the DO3D file and new files came out changing the textures while I was printing. I kept the old one for testing and the new one is the finished one you see
Printed in Polymaker Polylite Yellow and Polylite Black, nothing fancy
The yellow fabric is absolutely sublime. Looks amazing, dawg.
Thank you ! Half of the merit goes to the printer, on a 0.4mm the textures wouldn't load unless I use Arachne. As soon as I figured how to get all the details I went ahead and printed it
The weathering I did using my children's heart !
2 Batmen kissing! I can never unsee it!
I'm doomed !
"Hey Jmax, what is your halloween costume ?"
"Oh, not much, it's two Batmen kissing !"
You should never not wear this from now on. You are Wolverine.
Oh my god tell my girlfriend that ! Honestly it's been like 3 days that I consider it 98% done, and I wore it more time than I care to admit since then ahah
Listen, I know you're in love. But you can't let Jean Grey get in the way of your destiny. Now put your new identity on and solve some crimes!
slips the cowl on I got unfinshed business
So nice to see people weathering their stuff. Nothing makes me dairy l sadder than around a hundreds of hours build get left looking like it just came off the assembly line
Yeah it was very important to me that it looked like a movie prop (I wish I could say a real item but not many wear this kind of accessory on a daily basis nowaday)
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it !
I sure love it when the batmen kiss.
My girlfriend's son saw me wearing it and called me Batman lol
You should kill him.
I need claws first !
put on a suit, doubles as harvey birdman, attorney at law.
OBJECTION !!! Oh wait...
👍
Weathered post apocalyptic. Honestly, I'd throw a little rust colored droplet splatter around the front, dried blood style because... wolverine.
