As a Euro player I have to say that I strongly prefer FREEDOM 🦅🇺🇸 RARITY over our communist versions over here. I would like to know about the general opinions in the community.
Cards like master peace look 5 times better as an American print IMO.

The grass really is greener huh?
If OP plays against someone using NA prints, they automatically mill their own deck to the graveyard.
Nah grass is banned
Prefer NA, but that's because I live in EU.
Are we able to play EU cards in North America?
Yeah it’s all TCG.
Okay thanks
same lmao
EU ultimate rare is so much better.
Thats probably the only rarity that has a clear answer, even people that like US prints more here in Europe from my experience would never argue in favor of US ultis. I can’t see how anyone would.
Sometimes the US Ultis are so abysmally bad they're desired, but that's about the one niche case I can think of.
Us ultis looks like ultra rare… Its so bad
Maybe I’m missing something, but all the US cards seem to look a lot cheaper to me, at least from the pictures. Can’t really understand how anyone would prefer them.
Why is there even such a significant difference. So weird imo
I personally love how bright they are. Master peace looks much more majestic for example.
But yeah quality wise they are much worse. They feel cheaper and the surface ist rough. Almost like with counterfeits.
Incredible, they are already overpriced pieces of cardboard and they are still cutting corners.
Is there a reason why the color of the art looks so different? Look at the color differences between Masterpiece’s helmet and wings. On the US print they are distinct different shades of grey. On the EU print, they are pretty much the same shade of grey.
I like us coz color is more vibrant, live
Most of the time, EU for me. But on really dark artworks, NA is better since you can't see anything on their EU counterparts
Yeah. Dark cards like Zeus or Magnamhut have much more details because of that.
I also like really bright cards.
Unrelated but that german Baroness negated one too many effects, it seems
I was at my locals when the list dropped. Upon hearing that she was finally banned I crumpled my copy mid game to celebrate .
Rip Baronne (litteraly)
I have several rarities of preparation of rites - you cant see the ulti, secret, ultra/super treatment on the eu prints of ra02 like at all with that card if you look at the art box. I find the inclusion of preparation of rites funny for that set because of that
i didnt know there was a difference and now that im seeing it holy shit the us prints are awful by comparison
EU cards have better card stock. US cards fell kinda floppy and fragile while EU cards actually feel like cardboard and have a bit of hardness to them.
The colours are also a lot deeper and don’t look like they’ve been left out in the sun for a month like the US ones.
The Us cards are also much rougher to touch. The Euros are very smooth.
I have the exact opposite experience, EU cards may have better surface feel in their backs, but are more fragile, flimsier and prone to damage in comparison to the NA card stock, tested and proven (unfortunately).
As for colors, personal preference, personally the NA prints feel more visible to the eye, my country is supplied with EU cards and I really dislike how darker or "blue filtered" the arts and layout look, in contrast to a more clear and nitid appearance of NA printed cards.
Got a link to it being tested and proven?
I’d like to see that
I don't have a link, but I can mention two instances.
One was an EU ulti (a Spellbook of Power, in the occasion) creating a slight corner damage simply by... sleeving it in a perfect fit. The same situation happened with me when I unsleeved a Purrely Noir CR to check conditions. When sleeving it again, one of the corners stressed a bit (mind you, I was not being an ogre and bad handling the card at all), and when I finished, a small whitening ding showed in the left top corner. This happens with bulk EU commons too, but these occasions never happened whenever I was sleeving high rarity NA cards, not even the more recent ones that have the worst card stock yet.
The second instance is the water droplet test. Pick up any EU printed holo and NA printed holo, apply a droplet of water in their front, leave it for a bit, and then dry it with a microfiber cloth. The EU card stock will react badly to it, causing permanent damage in most occasions, while the NA will surprisingly be fine. Having had to clean cards I received (which I will keep it brief to stay on topic), and testing on cheap holos before cleaning, back when I started doing that, showed me that despite being rougher, the NA card stock could withstand better general handling and even humidity/water. Certainly not the biggest factor to consider for some, but sharing, since you were interested.
Yeah I prefer American print for the colors for the most part (except during the COVID time when they were more washed out) but prefer the sturdiness of the EU print
Yeah first thing I noticed when buying Speed Duel cards in NA was the darker frames and art (EU printed).
The newest set is NA printed with lighter colors, but unfortunately has way more crooked cards.
god the us sounds straight up terrible
Here in Europe (at least in Italy) there is a "cult" of players who upgrade their deck to full US print.
The funny thing is that US cards are much more expensive of their UE counterpart for obvious stocking reasons.
There are US cards which look incredible tho. I have an US Fateful Adventure and it looks amazing.
And then there is south american cards wich are floppy, have no shine, but at least have the EU collors
"We won but at what cost"
I personally love the US cards. But the difference is much more severe in person.
May i ask what you like more of the US prints ?
US foil cards have this weird tin-foil-like look to them which just speaks to me. The cards are also much brighter. So already bright cards like Master peace look just majestic. On darker cards you can see much more details.
Mhh I see, alright
NA if ya want shinier cards but EU if ya want the higher quality of card stock. Also, it doesn't help that NA prints get bought out more often then EU
Na, ultimate rare is for eu
I prefer EU, I prefer the foil as it tends to result in the art looking better off, a prime exception is the ultimate rare allure of darkness one of the few cards I prefer NA print, also I don't like the card colour on NA main deck effect monsters as much
I think the art is actually better in a lot of US cards. Look at sleeper or magnamhut. The brighter shades let you see much more details.
Not sure why you got a downvote for this, for players that use both NA and EU prints there definitely is a place where 1 is better than the other in more ways than just feel, the foil, the saturation and contrast of the card art, and the details, all play factors in why we choose which print we buy and use.
The Euros print look so much better. Common US L.
You are just a communist who can’t accept the beauty of democracy.🦅🇺🇸
On the pictures The US card will always be on the right.
The one that isn't available in my region is the better one.
aint noone gonna talk about the abysmal condition of that baronne?
What have you done to that poor Blumenbaronin?
I was at my locals when the list dropped. Upon hearing that she was finally banned I crumpled my copy mid game to celebrate.
That was my reaction after seeing that apo, IP, SP, accescode, dweller, Zeus and every other generic Extra deck bomb was still legal.
Whichever is the version you don’t have
Something something... Unban master peace.
The answer no one's ready to hear: It entirely depends on the card art. Some look better in EU, some look better in US.
I guess the Master Peace on the left, the armor actually looks like it's shining
I think it’s hit or miss depending on the card, but for Master Peace specifically, the EU looks much better in my opinion.
It honestly depends on the card and sometimes the rarity.
So honestly it is hit or miss and there is no clear winner. the euro prints excel at the background/minor stuff and has the parts that are supposed to be dark, actually dark.
while the NA prints look like the bloom has been cranked up.
Take zues for example. EU print has the body the correct color but the visual effects are just awful compared to NA however the EU background is enhanced.
looking at blaster, doomrider, Elf all have visible background details compared to NA prints. problem is NA PPP is 100% better as you can see the left most platform clearly.
Again its hit or miss but NA is usually the superior version ONLY cause the bloom has been cranked up hiding the details. their foreground/monster detailing is amazing though, blaster look muted in EU but the NA print really looks like the Lava on the wings is pulsating.
For me, only the darker colour schemed cards are problematic, as the EU cards are generally darker, the Neuron app has a really hard time scanning them. (I had three completely different results for Called by the Grave)
Ngl theres no reason for this card to still be banned but i do like the left one a lot
NA print is slightly lighter to save up money, it is as cheap as it sounds !
EU prints have always been way way better
Everything sounds better in german
Prefer NA, the EU ones look a bit washed out and feel like they lack contrast
EU print 99.9% of the time but not in German 😬
Yeah I try to avoid German cards too. However I used them in this post so that you can easily distinguish the cards.
German cards all the way. English is trash unless your talking about Max Rarity that only exist in NA then that is when English is fine
Euro has better colour. Better foiling highlights
EU and by a lot
US holos look way nicer, sometimes you cant even see the details in Eu prints because they are so dark. Not sure on the secrets tho.
US cards look like you left it in the sun for too long
EU all the way, NA printed cards look as if their colours are either too bright or their colours look slightly "washed out". Also EU card arts are (near) identical to all OCG and Master Duel cards, making them the standard by default.
US Print usually look cleaner
Agreed fellow lover of Freedom and Democracy 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸😍🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Is there even a difference or is it the lighting? Cant really tell
It’s not the lighting. US cards are usually much brighter. Look at master peace. The left one is so shiny that the secret is effect is blurred out.
It’s much more obvious in person.
These are almost identical
Have you looked at the cards ? How can you say that the Voloferniges, magnahmuts or Zeus look the same ?
On the Us version of Master peace the Decret rare effect is almost completely blurred out.
I think it depends on the card. For example I prefer the US Zeus or EU Zeus because the shine fits the art. SPYRAL Sleeper is another one where I prefer the US because how the background elements pop out highlighting the details about his armor but Baronne’s EU comes across better
from the provides pictures i prefer the eu ones, the others look way to bright almost like bleached colors
Whatever provides better contrast and color saturation.
I'm from the EU and I generally prefer EU print, but at the end of the day it depends on the card. I've got a NA print Saronir and wow it pops so much more on that card in particular.
Yeah the bystials in particular look really good in US prints.
I used to prefer EU or almost everything, but lately, EU looks really dull, the colors look muted, the shine on secret rare foil sometimes is hard to notice. There's this blue tint on some of the cards.
Mostly main deck effect monsters suffer from this, Links and XYZ do still look better on EU, for the most part.
My country receives both US (english) and EU (Spanish) printings, I remember getting some spanish copies over english because it used to look better, but today Is mostly the other way around.
US cards have that very interesting almost Tin-foil-like look to them. It just speaks to me.
I tend to get my cards in English since in my native language card text becomes too convoluted.
Blumenbaronin sounds blue to look at lol
Edit: I like the color of background being blue rather than white purple ish
The true difference is in the ultimate rares
Forgot to post a comparison between ulti rayes. Yeah however for that it’s extremely important to feel them with your own hands.
Eu. But the colours on that zeus do look good.
All sx, Zeus Is Better american . More lightnign
I think it heavily depends on the card artwork. Master Peace for example has already light colors, that’s why I like the EU Version more. Spyral Sleeper on the other hand with already dark artwork is better in the us version with the lighter colors.
I like the front of EU and the back of NA cards.
I find that cards with darker art look better in american print and lighter card look better ine u print imo
I prefer the right one because I can make out the letters on the card text better. Although I do like the colors better on the EU prints
It’s color dependent. Blues darker reds purples look better in eu but shiny lighter colors work better for na print.
These cards looks so cool
Common:US/EU Rare:US/EU Super:US Ultra:US Gold:US Gold Secret:EU Secret:EU Collector's rare:EU Ultimate:EU Starlight/QC:US
This is my personal preference, based on cards I own/have owned. Rarity collection's rarities are not included, as most of them I don't really like.
I haven't seen many NA cards in reality those I have seen looks cheap and saturated.
Though of these examples here I have a hard time to decide which Spyral Sleeper I think looks best.
Euro looks and feels so much better. But it’s funny because in my experience people in EU love NA prints. Truly a that grass looks greener situation
In Europe recently we have a lot of miss cut and bad quality material the print is bad something’s that dosen’t seems to happen with US print
Depends on template
i like the bright ones way better
EU for all except blaster
I like the eu ones as an eu player so im good:)
They're slightly darker in Euro otherwise there doesn't seem to be much difference
Jesus Christ Left! Which ome is left?!
The euro cards are always on the LEFT side…. As if the German didn’t make obvious
Didn't read the text my bad
Reinoheart - EU Schieren - NA? Havnis - NA Merrli- NA Keldo - EU Kelbek - EU Mudora - EU Agido- NA
Edit: Mobile formatting
Euro 1000000 times
I'd answer with a very definitive: it depends.
I prefer EU print for the most part tho. There are just some cards in certain rarities that looks better in na print. But for the most part I'm not a fan of the washed out aesthetic.
Ill be honest its dependant on colors, aka card dependant. Both cardstocks are arguably random ime all of the current day cards are a coinflip for cardstock aside from event packs. Deeper darker foils(EU) are good for bring out the brighter cards without obscuring the image. Brighter foils(NA) help bring out the darker cards.
I will say tho EU qcr/starlights are just superior because the foil doesnt absolutely obliterate the card image like the NA ones do.
Me: they’re the same picture
Pflanze = plant is killing me, sounds like you're doing a spit take lmao
Honestly some cards I prefer EU others NA but I will say the NA cards do look a little faded while the EU cards look more shaded and you can see more details in the card art
As a printer, i can assure that European (and german especially) printing is just way better objectively. Germany got the two biggest printing machine manufacturers in the world. Such expertise is visible!
Except they print them in Belgium...
That doesn't change a thing. Same machines and they use the PSO as well.
Man I wish Card market would sell straight to Australia, even if we have to pay the extra shipping. Cheapest Little Knight on eBay Au is like $200 on CM it's $120 Aud
The one i cant get in my region
Cards are often times much cheaper here. I remember dragoon being over 100$ in the states. While it peaked in Europe around 65€
EU all the way, its not even close
I don't know how it is today, but back when I played the game (2010-2017), it was EU all the way. American prints felt "flat" and off when compared to the prints in the EU. Cartamundi's printing press system is just better.
The reason I mention the years is that this can change over time, when new rarities are announced or printing techniques can change.
Quality and consistency is all over the place for both regions. I specifically only compared cards here that are from the same set.
A 2 super rare versions of the same card from the same region but from different sets can look completely different. From each other.
Cartamundi Texas vs Cartamundi Belgium .... the best prints are the SpeedDuel sets as they their own production line with much tighter QC (All SpeedDuel sets for the TCG in North America & Europe are printed on that line at the factory in Belgium)
for me it depends on a card by card basis but generally if you just want more shiny/brighter cards get US version but you lose details. for example for master peace the shading in the EU version looks much better while in the US version it kinda looks blurry.
Do EU cards just curve by existing as well?
Yes. And probably even more than US cards.
I largely collect cards for the shininess of them, but I do love the thicker feel and quality of the eu cards. To be honest if I have it in a good sleeve I do prefer the us versions. If I’m not blinding my opponent with the brilliant glare of my expensive cardboard am I really playing yugioh
EU-player here. My vote goes to European cards, hands down.
The text on US cards tends to be less crispy and can be way too thick. Of course, it depends on the print run as well, but US cards appear to have worse QA overall.
Another thing I dislike about the US cards is the hue of the description box background. It can look pretty bad, especially on effect monsters.
Plus, I find the Super Rare and Ultra Rare foiling to be of better quality on the EU cards. The EU one looks smoother.
Cartamundi Texas vs Cartamundi Belgium LoL.
Why are they even different? Surely one costs more to make than the other? Is Namco stupid?
The EU prints generally have better saturation and contrast. That isn't universal(some EU prints are way to dark), but this is a perfect example.
I prefer Euro Prints, USA Prints look so much darker and the foiling looks terrible.
I live in Australia.
I think you are mixing something up. The Euro prints are the darker ones.
I like certain eu cards over na and vice versa
I'm a NA player, and I prefer the NA prints, EU feel to dark and lose details in the art for it, like I finally got my hands on an S:P Little Knight and was a bit disappointed that it was EU print. But was able to trade for a NA print from a friend who wanted a EU print
EU imo, colors just seem more accurate and well balanced. Even on US cards that seem more vibrant you lose the form of the monster. Like I couldn’t tell what Baronne de Fleur was aside from the horse first times seeing it.
In NA we noticed the quality of EU English us better. Some people tell me the cards warp differently but I never noticed. They're just darker and feel better. Let's not forget max gold eu vs US
Euro looks better. NA isn’t called burger print here for no reason.
Jesus I forgot how beautiful Master-Peace’s artwork was in general
One of the few cards the looks on par with his power.
I just like whichever one looks more shiny
EU look much better. I've occasionally ordered American cards in the past and they pretty consistently made me think "oh god, these look awful."
I think they could both kinda take lessons from each other, the background and lighting overall looks better on Euro but the colors pop a little more for US which I love
I'm from EU but let's be honest, US print is more complete.
I will fully admit it's completely due to not knowing the language, but damn if some of these names aren't baller as fuck.
Drachenherrscher Der Infernos
Gottliches Arsenal Himmeldonner (Heaven something?)
From EU and highly prefer EU print our secret and ultimate foiling is just way better. The coloring of the artworks looks like they just messed up the saturation for NA cards and the orange, the textbox and especially the stars always makes me double check if the card isn't a proxy or counterfit when I get an american card in the mail.
I bought a couple of US cards, mostly from cardtrader because there's the majority of the cards printed in US, compared to cardmarket where all cards I had bought were EU print. Never again US, they're so washed out, gray/dull colors, but other than that the card felt the same.
If the left are EU, then I think they're better because of the dark shade
its gonna always be a that grass looks greener thing but i dont get how anyone even cares tbh
I prefer Na (european player). My ultra spell cards look like ultimate
apart from perlereino and elf always thebright one
Some are better, some are worse. It absolutely depends on the card, rarity, and set it's from. The first Master Peace I'd go EU, but the next 2 cards are for sure NA for me.
For the card stock and print quality, EU blows NA out of the water.
I'm at 7-3 US wins.
EU is better print quality. But living in eu the us versions are more rare so they have added value
I think regardless of other factors like card stock or preference the contrast on the EU cards is just objectively better. You can actually make out the details much more easily on the EU prints.
Whichever is the one on the left
Okay the Tearlaments ones on the right look better actually and zeus looks better but I still mostly prefer left for the most part
Depends on the rarity tbh
Just a case of That Grass Looks Greener
I like whichever one makes the subject stand out more, which I feel like the EU versions do better more often than the US ones, although it's like 60/40 really
I just wish they made them with the same card stock the OCG has, more plastic-y and less warping. I own several OCG foils and they only warped cuz of bad sleeves they were in, but otherwise no warping. Plus my OCG ulti Judgment Dragon looks way better than the TCG one
Freedom rarity over communist 😳😳😳. Wild line right there
EU is better, in all these examples anyway. The way the contrast comes out in the US ones looks more forced, for lack of a better word.
I like NA
The left
EU looks so much better with the darker colors. That EU Master Peace making me act up.
Still the greatest main deck boss of all time .
I prefer US because that's the language I know
Euro cards are darker in tone. You lose a lot of details and it changes the art entirely. My general rule of thumb is that the best euro prints are better than the best US print but the average US print is better than the average euro print.
Also i dont prefer euro cards because they curl so much faster than any other card ever made. You can grab cards from the 2016-2017 era for the worst curling out there. They are literally made cheaper and use a slightly different glueing process and slightly different paper apparently. It was common knowledge to just not play euro print cards from that time. People where getting disqualified with invokers.
EU prints look much better and are of better quality, is not even an argument.
Yeah the quality is objectively worse for US cards. However the look is seriously just personal preference. I adore US cards and prefer them strongly.
From the EU and I like EU print way more.
For ultra rares i can see the appeal of american prints, but paying a premium for that? Hell, no
I’m my experience NA prints are super thin and flimsy and the color of effect monsters is like faded. I opened a box of Lightning vortex from NA and I was straight up convinced they were fake cards. Euro prints, especially secret rares, are superior imo
Pretty communist take if you ask me. Why do you hate freedom so much ? 🦅🦅🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸
Trust me there’s nothing “free” about this TCG 😭😭😭
NA copies look nicer in these photos but in person when you're holding both, EU cards are nicer and are better quality overall.
I think they look generally nicer. That’s why I collect them. However it’s says a lot about their quality if you could figure out which card is a US print blindfolded by feeling them.
US prints cause everything is better when it's made in the USA.
EU Looks better. US looks bleached to all hell
Literally like watching the difference between an OLED (EU) Screen vs LCD (US) SCREEN
Compare the Gold Secret Rares, that is most clear contrast; EU print is super clean and beautiful.
I am from EU, cant stand NA Prints. I dont think they look so good. And US UmR looks not good, in my opinion.
euro looks much better in general, except for blaster here
As long as it gets unbanned, I'm happy either way
…. What’s the difference?
Prefer EU, but that’s because I live in NA.
