I literally have to pirate sports to watch games because YouTube tv is so dang slow it’s not even useable for any prime time live sports.
Anyone else?

Seconded this.
Me too. Zero issues in Seattle. Everyone's experience will be diffiernt depending on Your ISP, Your stream Box, how far away You live from Google's servers, Your LAN/WiFi
Gigabit cable and a wired Apple TV+ here…my only complaint is the lack of 4K stuff and the fact I can’t see what time it is in the guide…oh and the guide doesn’t open to the channel you’re currently on…it starts at the top of the list…this is a huge pain for us “olds” as we’re used to TV stations having numbers…now we just browse cards or scroll lists.
What does “slow” even mean?
No, I don’t have a problem watching live sports.
4th quarters of nba games specifically would be a good example. It’s sow skippy/jumpy… the moment the game ended and news came on and boom it’s fine.
What sort of device are you streaming on? None of that behavior on Apple TV.
Sounds like a problem with your local ABC affiliate.
It happens nearly every time for me. I have fast internet as well.
Have you tried basic troubleshooting? Restarting your device and router?
What device are you using to watch? You said you have good internet; have you done a speed test at the device you’re watching on? Have you looked at stats for nerds for any red flags?
Really need more info here, otherwise this is just a rant. If this was a widespread issue, you’d see posts about it.
Yeah I have. I have A a Samsung smart tv. There are 3-4 devices connected to the wifi at a time at most.
Not sure why a random streaming site would perform better than this is all.
Samsung is notorious for having issues with the yttv app, amongst other apps. Pick up a dedicated streaming device and I guarantee you’ll have a better experience.
Yeah I sometimes use my Samsung TV app out of laziness. Most of the time it works but when it doesn’t it’s atrocious. Never have problems when using my Apple TV.
I picked up a google chromecast since I had those issues years ago. Never saw those issues again. Some reason the Samsung tv was always trying to do too much in the background and would buffer constantly.
Buy an Apple TV 4k and you will be very happy. My Samsung 4k smart tv was very slow even my network speed is 500mbps. Then I bought an Apple TV 4k, wow. Huge differences.
I would start troubleshooting your wifi…
TV apps suck. I have zero issues on all of my streaming devices. Certainly not slow. This is a you problem not a YTTV problem. Try a streaming device.
Try an ONN box from Walmart. Cheap and effective
This is a you problem.
It's your device or your network.
No one is asking why this fellow has ten thumbs? Chromecast ftw.
No one is asking why this fellow has ten thumbs?
My dog would love to have just two of them. But, considering how smart he is, I think we'd be in big trouble if he had thumbs... 😉
I don't think it's YouTube TVs problem.
It could be the device you're using to run the software and/or your internet speed.
Ten thumbs? Now you’re just being ridiculous.
This sub is hilarious. Ppl post they have problems, ppl reply they have zero problems and said ppl get down voted. If I have a problem I want everyone to have a problem dammit!
😂 I did not expect all of this… didn’t mean to trigger anyone lol
It's an easily triggered sub 😂
Never have issues with Roku
No problems here
Never have any issues on any TV or any other device.
I wish we could make a sticky for this subreddit right when you open it. YTTV definitely has it’s problems, but 9 problems out of 10 are people using smart tv’s instead of dedicated streaming devices.
Running YTTV on symmetric 300/300 FiOS service. Not a single issue. I suspect your issue is either your internet or home network setup, not YTTV.
I’ve been using YTTV for probably a good 5 years now and I’ve never had that issue and i watch sports a lot.
I have not had any issues like that. Are you using wifi? How many devices are connected? What system are you connecting to yttv? How many other people are also using the same network?
This might be you, cause I don’t have this issue.
Ok so here’s the thing. When people bring up picture quality of YTTV I’ve noticed a slight difference on say DTS for instance. That is quickly changing. I have had zero issues watching sports on YTTV especially NBA games. No issues with NFL either.
We ended up switching over to optimum at my house and canceling YouTube tv soon. What a difference it makes. YTTV IS Super laggy, constantly freezing during NFL games and even worse during the playoffs. Haven’t had any issues with optimum yet
Appreciate trying all those steps – I'd also recommend checking for your YouTube TV app and your Samsung TV software updates. You can also contact Live Support here for additional troubleshooting.
It’s crazy, it’s always Samsung TV’s that has most the problems when using apps. Almost always the case
Hook me to with your favorite way to sail the season homie.
More information would be helpful if you want help… What device are you using? What is your internet speed? Who is your internet provider? Did you reboot your modem and router? Are you on Wi-Fi or Ethernet? Do you use a VPN? There are many factors that can affect anything that relies on the internet. I have zero issues.
Almost never have a problem .
no problems for me?
This post or comment broke rule #4 in the r/youtubetv sub, and has been removed.
I see you are a Blazers fan, OP. What NBA games did you have problems with? The Blazers are hopeless, so I don’t know enough to know when they have played on national TV this year, if at all, but in Oregon you pretty much have to have Roots Sports (the RSN) to watch any Blazers game, and YouTube TV doesn’t carry that channel.
I’ve had zero problems with watching non Blazer games on YTTV since I switched from Xfinity in October. Live sports is the best thing about YTTV.
Maybe get a Amazon Firestick and download the YTTV app. I have a Samsung TV for one of my 4 TV’s and it’s trash for streaming. Useless.
I had some quality issues with using the smartcast on my Vizio. Went to Roku ultra and love the quality. As others have said it’s all about the connection.
I have a local CBS that glitches some. I have an antenna and watch an out of market CBS Station for most of my CBS viewing. I suspect it’s your local station probably. Contact Google and see if they can help you.
Really weird, had YouTube for 4 years and never had any problems
I dropped my internet to 300 mbs and it's still fine here.
No I've never had a problem watching live sports or anything else.
You might want to check your network.
I stream 4k alll the time and it’s great. You might want to check out your network and internet quality
I have no problems with YTTV. I've had it for over a year and a half. Yes there it s a delay watching live sports but nothing drastic or ridiculous that would make me cancel it.
I have a 150 Mbps connection which is slower than a lot of people have, but I can stream everything on my network just fine. YTTV games are not a problem. You need to check your network rather than blame YTTV.
My DSL is less than half that speed and I've never had a problem with loading/buffering/lag.
Zero issues watching NBA games here, or any sports for that matter.
Like others have mentioned, maybe pick up a Roku Ultra or Chromecast and take it for a test drive. The Samsung apps suck.
I have two Apple TVs and other runs flawlessly for two years now .
Issues like this are almost 100% an issue at your end. Either ISP or Wi-Fi.
Zero issues on a Roku Ultra with T-Mobile Home Internet.
I have the Chromecast with Google TV and have zero issues with YTTV.
That’s you buddy
What?
To save people from digging through massively downvoted posts, he's trying to use YTTV in a Samsung TV's built-in app collection.
The solution is to get an external streamer. Any external streamer will work great - a Roku stick, a $20 ONN streamer from Walmart, a Chromecast with Google TV..... The Samsung version of YTTV is the cause of so many posts here from people who are having problems.
Nope mines great, it’s u
What are you using to stream via, and what interwebz provider? To me it sounds more of a problem elsewhere than with YTTV. Either user error, issues listed above.
Time to ditch dial up.
What's your streaming device?
Yep I have an Apple TV with wired fiber, gigabit, as well as ethernet it runs flawlessly
