What is the rarest or most desireable delisted Xbox 360 game (not including indie games)?
The LotR Battle for Middle Earth II was so good it ruined all other RTS games for me since. And I'm still pissed I missed those cybertron games.
I got it from goodwill for $2 a few months ago
Definitely the transformer games
Yeah they were sooo good. Deserve a remaster
I’m hoping ms can make them backwards compatible at least because they own the Activision now.
Hasbro has openly said they’d be open to a remaster of those games and that they wanted to talk to Microsoft once the acquisition finally closed.
Yea I’m still waiting
Earthworm Jim HD. Would love to be able to get this again, especially since it’s bc on series x.
How about Daytona USA
Also After Burner Climax, Outrun Online Arcade, and Sega Rally Online Arcade.
The Simpsons Arcade, was delisted and I believe it can't be redownloaded if you delete it. Even if its in your purchases games, unless it ever got fixed which I doubt it
I can re-download it. Just did it yesterday.
Good to know, must have been fixed then
I was under the impression delisted just means it can't be bought but is still on the servers. Which is weird to me, why not make more money off of it if it's gonna be there anyways
It's because there's contracts holding it up. Most of the time it's soundtracks but one of my chill games, Risk Factions, is dead because of studio closure and dodgy contracts, so no one can really claim ownership of the IP and it's not worth the legal cost to sort it out.
You can always re-download any game you own. Even if it's delisted for sale. The problem is finding the game in your purchase history, which on the 360 is not that easy.
Not true there’s two games I know for a fact that is hard delisted. Pirates vs ninja dodgeball and Ultimate mortal kombat 3 just to name a few but im sure there’s more.
Also Speedball 2.
I was able to download Ultimate and 1-3 from my download history. Let me know what issues you're having.
Hmm, I will check later to see if I still have Ultimate.
Wrong. Ever since CSGO was delisted from the marketplace, you cannot redownload it: even if you bought it.
I believe this one is a rare exception that means The Simpsons cant be redownloaded, at least people had issues in the past and they contacted MS over it with no luck
Got it on PS3. Both it and X-Men Arcade could be re-downloaded. I just had to go thru my download list.
Unless 360 did things differently.
Probably the Ultimate Alliance games are the most desirable. If they remastered/rereleased them they would sell like crazy
On the topic of recent events and Marvel as well, probably the 360 version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Origins. MvC2 at one point was actually the best selling digital game on the XBLA during that generation when it was a more unheard of thing to be selling standalone digital titles. This probably won't happen though seeing as how the Fighting Collection probably gives Capcom and Marvel less incentive to relist the legacy versions anywhere
I'd love Ultimate Alliance but I don't think Marvel is actively interested in ever working with Activision ever again given their history and how they split off
I would have probably ended up buying the collection for MvC2 but honestly, there is no way of going back to the way it was on the dreamcast and arcades. It would be a fun nostalgia trip just to try it if the net code was good
A benefit of the upcoming collection at least is that the ports are directly based on the arcade versions unlike the 7th gen release for MvC2 which was modeled after Dreamcast. I don't think we know for sure what ROM they're using yet but if it's anywhere close to how they were presented on the Arcade1Up cabinets given a lot of the games are basically the same ones you could find on those machines it's going to be a solid way to play these games, especially if the netcode is as good as the last Fighting Collection
Weren't the Dreamcast versions near-identical to the arcade versions anyway, thanks to the NAOMI board?
Dreamcast Marvel 2 was easily the best console port previously and I believe even though PS3/360 MvC2 was essentially the Dreamcast version redone with widescreen, it ended up introducing bugs and its own quirks specific to it that weren't on Dreamcast, such as some severe slowdown and recovery for certain characters especially on 360, inconsistent input windows, crashes that happen mostly on PS3 with online etc.
PS3 was the version I played back then so I was very privy to a lot of its specific issues. It was a serviceable version of the game for sure but not perfect and I even hear from some circles that they actually didn't like the widescreen presentation for whatever reason because of the way certain sprites were scaled
MvC2 at one point was actually the best selling digital game on the XBLA
If I remember correctly, it was the top selling game across XBLA, and PSN. If I remember correctly on PSN it was in the top 5 for the better part of a year.
“remasters” dropped in 2016. Sure there was some issues at launch, but they were fixed. A lot people just hated on it, and told people to just buy the 360 versions.
I came to say this.
Definitely Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
I wouldn't have high hopes, the last port on the Xbox One was quick and dirty.
I was lucky and got those versions for PS4 digitally. Really wish they had a physical edition so I could have gotten my friends into them.
X-Men Legends for me.
Wasn't on 360 (nor the sequel), only the OG Xbox.
I bought 1 and 2 when they sold them together for 8€ just a week before they delisted it. But I never played through them. 🙈
Driver san Francisco
It isn't difficult to find on disc. It's playable on Series X as well.
I heard that if a game is backwards compatible, it'll still be listed on the current Xbox store, and that only the 360 marketplace itself is being delisted.
Edit: looks like they were wrong
That has generally been the case but Driver San Francisco has been delisted from both stores for years, so it’s not really in the spirit of what you’re talking about. It’s true for games that are still for sale.
I just picked up the disc version. Great game.
I raged and broke my disc as a kid. What a shame
Orange Box
This
A ton of great fighting game collections are still not available on the S/X: Marvel vs Capcom 2 Online, Darkstalkers: Resurrection, Street Fighter 3rd Strike Online, Marvel Origins Online, Mortal Kombat Collection, SF II HD Turbo Remix
I feel like at this point instead of SSFII Turbo HD they'd be better off just porting Ultra SFII to anything. It's crazy that seven years later it's still Switch exclusive because it's literally just better SSFII Turbo HD and would probably benefit from being on other platforms that can handle stuff like revised online netcode and especially if you brought stuff like the buddy battles online
You can play third strike on the street fighter collection capcom released.
And some of the Darkstalkers on another capcom fighting collection.
Third Strike in 30th Anniversary is considerably worse online because of the input delay. This is on every platform and it's very disappointing if you want to play at a higher than casual level, and I believe the netcode was still delay based as well. Online Edition is still probably the best version of SFIII ever released and I think a lot of Third Strike stans would've actually just preferred a straight port to modern consoles. 30th Anniversary in general outside the extras was kind of underwhelming
Fighting Collection is definitely still a viable way to play Darkstalkers though. In fact it was basically a better version of what they tried with 30th Anniversary just on a pure gameplay and content level and a lot of that seems to be carrying over for MvC
Oh, I know, I'm just talking about those old ports, some of which are better than some of the ports in those collections.
Forgot one, standalone UMK3 🫣
Yes it was a thing. Even had a profile picture achievement unlock!
How'd I forget!? I bought that day one when it came out.
Alpha Protocol and The Saboteur. Thankfully The Saboteur is back on Steam at least.
I really want to give the Saboteur a shot; my computer isn’t up for it.
I still have alpha protocol on my 360 lol
Few are actually rare as I believe the minimum print was 50,000 units. Unless the game was something that was thrown away because it was undesirable at the time (King Kong). Some desirable delisted games are the Transformers, Lord of The Rings, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Spider-Man and Saw games, Splatterhouse, Spec-Ops: The Line, 50 Cent: Blood on The Sand, Need For Speed: Most Wanted ‘05, Operation Darkness, Left 4 Dead 2, The Orange Box, Batman Arkham Origins and Driver: San Francisco. There’s many others of course, some are desirable because they’re harder to find nowadays, some because they’re backwards compatible, some because they’re legitimately great games.
I remember an ex-Activision dev came out a few years ago and said they were actually working on remasters for the two original Beenox Spider-Man games for PS4/Xbox/Switch/PC after the Ultimate Alliance ports but apparently they got canned because Activision got extra stingy with Marvel and wanted to use them as a means to regain the character license after the deal with Insomniac was already active, so they got canned while work was being done on them
It's a real shame. Not all of the Activision Marvel games hit but the high points like Ultimate Spider-Man, Web of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time would've been nice to have on current gen
Arkham Origins
Wolfenstein 2009
Lollipop chainsaw appears popular enough.
When I worked at GameStop one of the most desired games was Alice: Madness Returns. The one copy we had was really expensive and no one would buy it. Then came a day someone did try to purchase it. Turns out the copy we had we could not find. Someone had stolen it.
How much was Alice on 360 at the time?
It’s been almost ten years now… I want to say like 70 bucks.
Damn, seriously?
I played this for the first time last October because it's on Game Pass and it's literally one of my favorite games of all time. I haven't purchased it but when it leaves GP I absolutely will. I can see why people desired it so much.
Alpha Protocol
Outrun Online Arcade. Delisted one year later.
For a long time, NCAA Football 14 would have been up there, but now that we finally have a new one, probably not so much anymore.
Marble Blast Ultra, of course. 👍
Thank God for Marble It Up.
Do you actively play MIU?
On steam deck, yes - wonderful game! Not very cozy though on some od those levels haha.
Left for dead. Switched to series S so no disk which is how I owned the original
Left 4 Dead isn't backwards compatible, but Left 4 Dead 2 is. Both i believe have been delisted. You can no longer get the DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 and I'm missing one of them.
Incorrect. Left 4 Dead is absolutely backwards compatible.
I've tried buying the 1st game ages ago to play on my Xbox one and it wasn't in the store at all.
It is backwards compatible but you can’t buy both of them anymore in store just physical
When i meant by ages ago, i meant back when they weren't delisted. I know you can't buy them anymore.
It was never purchasable on Xbox One. You either had to buy L4D via the Xbox 360 or the Xbox/MS website
Because for whatever reason there are some games & DLC that even though they're backwards compatible they're only purchasable on the old Xbox 360 Marketplace.
ive been buying back some of the games i stupidly got rid of, some are cheap enough and some are just ridiculous for games nearing 20 years old
Too Human.
Just kidding. Probably not desired at all but I remember it getting pulled from shelves so I bought two copies.
Isn't it still downloadable for free?
Not sure! That would be cool if it was.
Not that anyone should download it, though. It's not very good.
Jet Set Radio is no longer purchasable on the Xbox arcade.
50 cent: Blood on the Sand
Brink. Jk.
Outrun Online Arcade.
I'd also consider After Burner Climax. Sega was cooking with these.
For me it's gotta be The Saboteur and the Godfather games.
Marble Blast and Strangers Wrath
Race driver grid.
No one said Mech Assault 1 or 2!!!!
When i say indie game i just meant the indie section. Thanks, didn't know those versions were different.
I have that one I think! I played all the Trials games back then, now I need to go see if I have all the dlc for it!
The Amazing SpiderMan from Xbox 360. That game was dope. Especially for its time.
Saw a sealed copy of Avengers at gamestop for $200, which was pretty funny
Don't Nod Entertainment's, "Remember Me!"
That's for sale atm.
Yeah, I know. however, I already owned it, but I did purchase some add-ons for it just recently during the sale.
It's a great game!
Godzilla: Save The Earth
Speedball 2 was delisted and can't be downloaded anymore. I wonder if this is legal because I paid 15€ for it.
Test Drive Unlimited 1+2, Soul Calibur 2+4, Batman Arkham Origins, Transformers games(Devastation too!), LOTR BFME, GRID Autosport, Fuel, Blur, Need For Speed Carbon/Most Wanted
Left 4 dead games
I would think NCAA Football 14 is up there. It was going for $200+ during the pandemic and I think it’s still pretty high despite the new one finally coming out this year.
Idk if anyone even knows this game but when I was younger I played this game called Blades of Time and I loved it sm. I wish I could play it now 😭
3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2
burnout paradise
I know of NCAA 14 off the top of my head. I wonder if the upcoming college football game will affect the price
ETA: Operation Darkness is also very expensive and hard to come by
Soul Calibur 1 and 2, original versions of gta San Andreas and vice city, mk9 komplete edition , splinter cell OG Xbox games, forza horizon 1-3 top the list of desirable yet unattainable backwards compatible games (digitally)
Manhunt! Took me years to get it for a reasonable price!
Orange box?
Driver: San Francisco
EVERY SINGLE KNICKET GAME
I'd say nfs most wanted ( 2005 )
Mvc2 ? I know it was out for 360 arcade I believe but I only had it for the Xbox but oh how I miss that game on console
Why not including indie games
There's too many and a lot are very obscure.
Lotr games or transformers cybertron series
