Mine is that there is advanced technology but the battles are with melee weapons because people of my world have laws that forbidden it thousands of years ago because they think that it’s cowardly to shoot people from afar. And also the battles consist of equal man from both side the country that will be invaded can decide that how many soldiers fought and with what melee weapon.
Lies!
Coincident!
its mine
Same. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Stole my thunder
"You don't make tractor beams your weapon?" - average Atreisdean.
We plough our fields with them.
"You don't use farming tools as weapons (and vice versa)?" - average Atreisdean.
Those guys actually use old MBTs as tractors.
Nothing. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
In a single comment you have already made me wanna be friends with you
Tbh, nothing in particular. But I like it, and that's enough for me.
I'll make this brief.
My fantasy world kind of does a few things. For one: I put my own spin on traditional fantasy races, such as orcs being more catlike (have you ever seen a warthog take down any animal by using its teeth to rip out their throats), and elves being very biologically diverse and not connected with nature (they're generally about as ugly as humans, with some elves being fat) to name a few.
Another thing is the gods themselves aren't necessarily primordial, and didn't create the world (although they almost ended up destroying it). So, they just decided to make a few new species to kind replant every sapling and blade of grass in the world, while they went to another dimension or whatever to not break the world even further.
Third, there are plenty of animals present that come straight from the pages of prehistory, such as short-faced bears, tyrannosaurs like tarbosaurus, azhdarchids, embolotherium, woolly rhinos, mosasaurs, and much more. There exists an island in my world filled with weird inhabitants, such as mini-crocodiles that are vegitarians, as well as a group of "mini-humans" and other miniature animals living there, with one of the most dangerous creatures there being a giant amphibian the size of an actual crocodile (or alligator in this case).
Much of the world is sparsely populated (at least on the surface), with the central and eastern continents being the most densely populated. This is because of geography, as the northern continent is one of the colder continents, and the south is a wasteland that can range from blisteringly hot to bitterly cold.
The cultures of my world are sort of based on real-world cultures from the Bronze age to the Medieval era, as there are Graeco-Romans, feudal Japan, Celts, and Vikings to name a few.
Conventional magic in my world is more of an afterthough, especially with how the gods designed it. Magic is limited to using three elements (fire, ice, and lightning), lifting objects less than 15 pounds, altering light to turn you invisible in some cases, casting wards to absorb or deflect magical attacks, and heal only cuts in the skin and organs, all at the cost of being completely useless against dragons. They're a little like psychic powers from Earthbound, except requiring hand gestures and moving of these gestures in specific ways in order to perfom the spells (no staffs are required). Also, there is this magical phenomena made by the gods that prevents the usage of any other type of magic for outsiders that manage to somehow enter the world. This is supposed to be protection for both my world, as well as any other worlds beyond (think of this phenomenon as sort of flypaper).
I do plan on having magic-powered technology, but I'm trying to make it so it doesn't break any of my established rules and lore of conventional magic. So far, I had this idea of a firearm that is powered by a crystal, and shoots one of the three magical elements, depending on the crystal (I swear to you, it's not a staff, it's supposed to be like an artificier's gun-thing), and I have no further clue on how else it's supposed to work.
I guess I consider my fantasy world to be a bit technical.
I'll make this brief.
proceeds to make longest answer on post
If I had to sum it up it would be: - The themes of the Wild West are worldwide (civilisation vs wilderness) - I like to make every single culture have a fully developed language and cultural traditions before i do stuff like wars and cities - We are entering the ice age (Brrrrr)
Lornhemal: Its basically LOWEST FANTASY COULD GET: IE the world where i took historical settings and put it into one, not to mention its not in Technological stasis
Number 999: I took climate change movements, and made their idea as a shield for implementing new Totalitarianism
My world is ruled by a bunch of angels and demons that are playing a mix of spore, civilization and dnd with the people of the world
A continent of tribals managed to Out-tech a WWII level empire.
I'm not so sure. I've basically furry dominated factions fighting each other using a mix of medieval and keen weapons. Armoured knights with swords in landships bearing clan banners while flanked by soldiers armed with spears and modernised bows and crossbows. There are also cars built in countries whose cities look like they were built in the iron or medieval age.
Lapis_Wolf
The laws of reality are based on mostly philosophical bs >:)
I don't know yet, for now, it's the typical medieval fantasy but with furries instead of the usual dwarves elves, and orcs
I think you have the answer.
The post above this says almost the exact same thing rip
Still original though, don't really see furry knights that often
There’s not really a single defining trait that makes my world “unique”. Rather, the interactions between lots of smaller pieces are what truly make it my world. Everything from the small changes I made to various fantasy races, to the restrictions I put on magic, to the environments that exist play a role in making Ventreth unique.
Well, my world is huge. The mountains, the valleys, the trees, everything. The creatures who live there now came after a race of giants.
I’m hoping the giant landscapes will lead to some interesting fight/chase scenes.
Humans live on an artificially made planet with robot angels flying around protecting them
Lore! I feel like if anything that's probably a basis of everyone's anwser. We can use all the same races and settings but the lore will always be different
It’s sci-fi being built on high fantasy. So there’s a world war that’s kinda forever in a stalemate on some mountains in the center of the continent as two sides try to tech rush their way out of it.
Also a god that blew itself up is harvested for power in the most evil of the two major factions of the world, and it’s still conscious. And angry.
Also dragons are uplifted animals because of this god.
The Gundams armed with nuclear weaponry aren’t the biggest trump cards on the ground.
The four-and-twenty primal gods are an odd assortment of concepts. Originally they were trees of the dying tree that grew from a borrowed seed.
Later/lesser gods and fae and wandering spirits do the bidding of the primal gods, usually without knowing it.
Mortals - children of fae, children of men, children of disenchanted beasts and disenchanted trees - interbreed. Fae mate with men to reproduce more and to the magic of shorter lives, as men do. Beasts mate with men to live longer and to be civilized as men are. Trees mate with men to move around more swiftly as men do, and to not know so many things.
Dragons are lizards with giantism that grow additional hearts and brains to accommodate their size. Some dragons grow to the size of mountains.
Magic as men practice it is a sort of cultivation, with spells growing over time. There are runes also, but they are locked to regions and can be incredibly destructive if moved then released where they do not belong.
Flesh monsters are not evil, and turning into one does not force others to chuck you into a incinerator.
I took the whole “Roger rabbit” set up and applied it to every form of art.
I’d like to think it’s my blend of wacky magic concepts with a modern/sci-fi setting. I’ve set up my world like a sort of playground where I can make anything that suits my mood happen.
A serious space opera where a hero beats up embodiments of darkness? Sure thing. A small slice of life story by a beach where a giant kangaroo comes and wrecks the city? Of course! Chaotic act of fate where everyone in a bar becomes sharks? That happens every other month.
I also think my rule of having no humans whatsoever is a big part of what makes my world unique. It goes beyond not having a species specifically called humans. There is no organism that even resembles a simian creature besides lemurs. All of my sapient races are either anthropomorphic animals or a unique alien species with no traits homologous to humans besides a bipedal body plan
Well I wrote it, that’s all I can claim. I put my own work into it and conglomerated a bunch of ideas I thought were cool.
I guess all of it
The way that I stumbled onto worldbuilding was that I'm just kinda in love with the world. Everything that I interact with I am interested in and once it stays on my head long enough, i create my own version. I did all of this so many times that the world almost made itself.
From hair styles to sports games, public transport to local cuisine, everything was made by me. There is almost nothing similar between Ko Tekkai and Earth and the various other stories inhabiting it. Light is faster and planets don't exist. Rockets are strapped to farm equipment and all realities orbit a clock.
Maybe not everything is original just yet. I mean, after all, Nevada still exists. I'll keep trying though, one entry at a time.
As far as I know, my setting is the only one that takes place on earth before Theia crashed into earth.
Mine has the color of magic be not like you think, magic has distinct smell to it, and your eye color relates to what kinds of magic you can utilize
My characters
👍
Wouldn't someone deciding to say “fuck it” and use ranged weapons be able to just conquer the world then?
Also there aren’t a lot of wars in my world because even the biggest countrie attacked a country that had like 20000 citizens could lose because the invaded country would just simply said that it will be 1v1 and they just pay the most skilled mercenarie. That treaty that forbidden the use of armor-ranged weapons that was my solution to write out wars in my world because I don’t like that most of the lore of worlds is just mountains of wars.Oh and also they could used war robots because technically it didn’t have armor because it was his body that served as an armor so that was the loop hole,
There are combat judges that inspect the battlefield but uhm they can be corrupt.Aslo there were combat robots used with melee weapon and it was such a big advantaged that the country that used it pretty much became a global power because the robots armor was so layered that it was like to fight against a tank with melee weapon but it was banned long before.
there's a big wheel
also the church is neither evil nor incompetent
That's basically medieval France lol. The English had access to the Welsh longbow and they'd use them to piss the French off to no end during the Hundred Years' War.
To be honest I dont really care about how unique my worldbuilding is, no matter what something else will be similar, maybe even almost the same. I think what matters is that I like what I've made and that it serves my story well, hard focusing on being unique just stresses me out and limits my creativity.
Your lost in a forest there just endless woods no mountains in sight just the sky. You get thirsty and discovery a pond you cup your hands for a drink and as you drink the water it takes like salt.Your lost in a forest there just endless woods no mountains in sight just the sky. You stop take a step back look down there no dirt just roots of the forest you look deeper into it overlapping roots and see gaps you get thirsty and discovery a pond you cup your hands for a drink and as you drink the water it takes like salt.
I was crazy once
I went with a principle of no horses, no gods, no dragons, no swords.
Instead of horses, we have dogs, bred to be beasts of burden. Other breeds serve as meat and dairy livestock.
Instead of gods, I have several religions, all of which are wrong about most things. The nearest thing I have to gods are orixas, which only really interact with humans by accident.
Instead of gods, we have the luscapă, huge raven-winged wolves which can grow to enormous size.
And I kinda didn't stick the landing with swords. Sickles and scythes are still the primary weapon, but sabres are still around.
Panem et circus
but
with violet skinned,winged,4 eyed people
It is the most "univerally generic" setting (that I could come up with; if you've got a fantasy-related thing that's generic in your social circle and suspect I might've not heard of it, I'm all ears)
I've got:
- enchanted forests
- mischevious fae
- wandering wizards
- stationary secluded wizards
- damned crews and ghost ships
- cursed treasures
- sea monsters
- dragons scaled, feathered and/or fish-skinned
- forgotten ruins and dungeons
- magical weapons of all kinds
- prophecies! (not just of chosen ones!)
- petty gods
- impossible quests
- miraculous potions
- thieves-turned-royalty with too many wives
- scheeming advisors
- enlightened monks
- sects of arrogant cultivators
- warriors stripped of honor or purpose
- vast unexplored lands and oceans
- lost cities of precious metals
- spirits
and way, way too much more.
help!
Sci-fi but I said “fuck modern science the alchemists were right”. Diseases are caused by miasmas upsetting the humours of the body, vermin are spontaneously generated from corpses
That’s about it, everything else is shamelessly stolen
A lot But the one I thought of is, here aint any elves, dwarves, orcs, halflings, Yada Yada, but the two current sapient species, note,SPECIES, not RACES, are the arctic Dharakhana, a dwarf based nocturnal species, that live in burrows, and have almost bovine facial features with enlarged skulls, with long manes reminiscent of dwarf beards, and a Moon worshipping culture, and the savannah Delyrbani, a foreclaimer based species, taller and heavier than the Dharakhana, with thick gray skin, and facial features resembling a mix of rodent and canine features,sun-worshippinghipping culture.
Wait, does that mean my world is......FURRY??
You have all the common tropes of a DND style fantasy world with clear good and evil and its all placed in a modern war.
I have seen
