I painted my nails for the first time a few months back, showed my mum who was a beautician and said be brutally honest , the replay I got was "Shit"... but she didn't tell me to get it off so it was a win.
I mean you did tell her to be brutally honest and most people's first attempt at painting their nails comes out kinda shit. Do hope she at least gave you some advice on how to improve though otherwise that's just mean.

I think your mom's comments hold water. In the sense that so many of us latch onto styles that are not fitting our age. This picture is, in my opinion, an example of that statement NOT being valid.
I feel like we only latch onto styles that don't fit our age because, for most of us, we transitioned after that style would have been appropriate for us, and we simply never got the chance.
If I was born cis I'd probably be over the teenager/ early 20s aesthetic by now lol

Very true statement!!! Just because we can doesn't mean we should. Sometimes, we want to feel pretty but might not have the guidance to wear what fits as well as what's appropriate.
We never had that opportunity, and it makes sense we grasp at styles that are unbecoming.
Off topic, but I see so many younger girls with all the right stuff, and a part of me gets jelly. Seeing them put together is awesome, and I also feel a little envious. I'm probably projecting a bit. We all have our dragons to slay.
I agree! For what it's worth, personally I don't wear stuff that doesn't fit my age because it just makes me more dysphoric. But like, I definitely envy those who can like you said. So much gender envy
I think people latch on to styles much younger than they are because of a lack of a proper childhood. Also Effects of male puberty can make trans women seem older than they are so dressing as an older person can help passibility.

I'm not saying it isn't the kind of hat an old lady would wear, but also like any woman who doesn't want the sun on their face. Heck it's the stereotypical fashion lady who is outdoors hat and let's be honest, stereotypical fashion lady is rarely old
I love those hats. Thought honestly, it's because that style of hat is in New Vegas, and was one of the few pieces of clothing that didn't change based on your sex. Back when I was in denial and playing at bring a man, going around in that hat made me happy. X3
Cos being an old lady rocks :) No-one cares what you look like, you can colour your hair pink or blue and no-one notices. And you get to wear funky hats!
