What would they do, if someone wrote, -$8.10 on the tip line, then filled out the total as $57.78 and signed it? And, perhaps wrote something to the effect, "service was non-existent" or "rude service", assuming it really was. I suppose the big question is, Was the Mandatory tip disclosed somewhere?
By law, it is a fee. They do themselves a disservice calling it a "tip"when they're trying to scam you into tipping twice because your brain goes "but, it says it's already on there!"
