We just got back from a family weekend in Hocking Hills (Central Ohio, if you're not familiar). My daughter in-law and I spent 6 months planning and we chose a secluded cabin in the woods for 6 of us (including my 3 year-old granddaughter) to have a weekend to destress.

It was a wonderful 2.5 days, we were sad to leave this morning to go home, but reality awaited. There was the usual cleanup - gather up towels, empty the fridge, make sure the dishwasher was loaded and started. While wiping off the counter, I noticed an envelope with a QR code.

It was to "show my appreciation" for the "housekeepers"!

This was not a hotel. There was no daily maid service. We cleaned up after ourselves, took out the trash, made sure everything was back where we found it. What was I meant to "show appreciation" for?

I paid $150 cleaning fee! I'm supposed to tip on top of that?? Nah. I'll tip a couple bucks daily in a hotel, but the moment I am paying a cleaning fee, there will be no tip.
