In OP’s imagination.
Yup, this is an even my ass clapped story
Thank you!!!!!!!
Absolutely this.
The cats used his phone and deleted the video
Why isn't this top comment
There is none.
Ya, i need this video. How do we get reminded if it ever happens.
Sounds like they devised the perfect plan to get you back home and to shut the dog up.
Yes exactly lol
You HAVE to post this video footage. I must see it. Your cats need to be interviewed by Oprah.
Just don’t check OP’s profile for the video
Edit: If you don’t want to see a dick don’t look
Haha I appreciate the heads up. Dicks are great and all, but not when they are unsolicited and disembodied.
Jesus you weren’t wrong
Edited my comment for a more… detailed warning
Thanks for saving me from an unsolicited duck. Im trying to have fun here..
Damn my curious mind!
Thank you, my scarred friend. You sacrifice will be remembered.
Great now I gotta check your bluff smh
Thats not dick, thats just an oversized clit

Same, but my cats not very smart… I love him but… he’s a dummy. He just jumps on the dogs back and bites her until she plays with him. OP’s cats need to be studied. Maybe they can help us solve some of our societal problems.
Cats are excellent trainers.
I volunteer at a cat shelter and lots of cats are terribly smart. We have one right now who can open a cage that as a 2 locks mechanism.
They know the exact feeding time. Some get out of a long confortable nap 5 minutes before.
A couple even have a way to tell me they want their blanket change.
They really think that they are the Boss.
Cats don't have owners, they have staff.

Cats can be scary smart, my house has to have round door handles.. lever ones are a no go because of how smart my cats are
Yep had to change my lever handles too. I put child proofing on cabinets and doors.... currently he's figured out about 2/3s of them..... scary how smart they can be....
One of my cats loves the dryer, just sleeping in it. But it took me a while of "didn't I close that" to catch her having not only having opened the fully latched dryer draw but sleeping in it. They particular cat will also pull her favorite blanket off the bed when it's in the middle of the blankets and make herself a nest and is the reason i stopped putting the cat biscuits in the cupboard, there was no use they didn't stay there.
So far my cats haven’t figured out how to open mason jars, though they tried knocking them on the floor.
Are they orange? Because then they don't.
My cat likes potatoes. He figured out how to open the cabinet, take a potato out of the bag, then close the cabinet and take off with his ill gotten gains. We had to lock the vegetables in the pantry.
Yeah... I bet they are hearing or smelling something that you don't realize. I don't think biological clocks are accurate to the minute.
This needs to be an animated Pixar short.
Better yet, OP can just sell the actual footage with a soundtrack and voiceovers and be golden.
People will ask, "How did he train the cats to do that?" and others will argue "It's not real, cats can't do that".
there is no footage. look at this dudes profile. he's repulsive and potentially dangerous.
Video or it didn’t happen.
Fr
Yeah this is 🧢. Def needs to share the video because according to him, he was able to go back and view the recording.
I doubt there is a video. Bathroom doors usually open to the inside. For a cat to push a door closed, it would be trapped inside.
My bathroom door opens out into my bedroom - and my bedroom door opens in. They are right next to each other and if someone is trying to enter the bedroom while someone is trying to exit the bathroom, there are problems.
I had the same issue for many years. Solved it by replacing the bathroom door with a sliding barn door, which our dogs promptly figured out how to open.
My cats open doors by placing their claw underneath the door, so this is very much possible.
Since OP says that it’s on video, I would love to see the video and be proven wrong.
Bot gonna lie, im very skeptical about it lol sounds way too good to be true.
Depends a lot where you live since things are built differently in different parts of the world. Where i live door knobs are fairly rare and doors usually have handle bars. My cats can open our doors if they aren't locked simply by jumping on them, since the door opens when you put enough pressure on the handle.
Bathroom doors also open to the outside in my house as well, in fact that is the case with most bathrooms i've seen whether it's in public or just privte residences.

I was thinking…”those poor kitties…” lol
Poor kitties indeed! They're fricking Pinky and the Brain.
Locking the dog in the bathroom is one thing. But letting him out just in time for OP to come home is a whole other level of deviousness.
Poor doggy is barking, telling OP what they did to him and the kitties will just be like, "Who? Us? Don't be silly! We're just kitties!"
One is a genius and the others insane?
Probably, but I can't figure which is which just yet. Or maybe they're both geniuses. I'd say the one who decided to let the dog out before OP got home so they could look innocent is the more brilliant of the two.
Good deal
Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Same lol. I thought the story was heading to a very gruesome ending haha
As soon as I saw the title, I thought it'd be a way worse outcome. Doesn't matter that it was a pitbull, could've been any breed of dog.
Yeah I guess I'm getting better with click bait lol
Haha. Tbh I did the same thing. Thanks for the trdl. You the MVP.
Give it time.
and that's called having a bias.
Which is not always a bad thing.
Especially when it’s wholly justified.
It's called being on Reddit a lot tbh, like every 5th post is about pitbull aggression
Not just Reddit you saw it on judge Judy a lot
Is it? I guess I don't really follow dog subs a lot
Neither do I, honestly, there just seemed to be a new one at least once a day on my feed for a while. I was exaggerating the actualy amount, but it was more than I'd like. I don't want to see or read about dogs ripping animals/people apart, really.
Fair enough
I thought so too, but 2 cats vs 1 pit bull, ill bet on the cats every time.
sure...
This post is an obvious lie
I wish I could find the article so I could link it but unfortunately, I just cannot remember where I had originally seen it.
Anyway, apparently cats' brains are very similar to human brains when it comes to critical thinking and problem solving. People assume cats are dumb because they "can't learn tricks or be trained like dogs can". This is just not the case. Cats can, and do, learn tricks. And they can be trained. If they want to.
Dogs respond to training because they want to please us, but cats need a better reason. Much like humans, cats want to know what the payoff is for them. Cats are less likely to learn a trick simply because it pleases the human. They have to know that there is some kind of reward in it for them. And it's the same with training.
They learn to poop in the litter box because they don't like to be dirty. They didn't just learn to stay off the counters, they learned to stay off the counters when you are around because they don't want to hear your blathering. They learned to mimic the cries of babies because they recognized that it gets them attention -- ie: If the humans think that we are cute and helpless, they will do all the things for us.
I obviously don't know why your cats originally learned to open and shut your doors, but they did, and the payoff for them in this case was the muffling of the annoying dog's whining so that they could go nap in peace. And then they let him back out again because they knew that you would be cross to find him locked up and they didn't want to listen to you scolding them.
they learned to stay off the counters
when you are around
because they don't want to hear your blathering
I've long suspected this.
Also I knew when my cat learned to open doors when I woke up in middle of the night one night and he was in my face. I used to shut that door every night. Now I don't bother.
There are big cats that make meowing vocalizations. so, unless we domesticated them too, meowing is not a learned mimic behavior. "Pantherinae" are mostly big cats and do not meow (ignore the evolving snow leopard); "Felinae" are the meowing/purring varieties and include big cats like cougars and cheetahs. sorry for my rant...
And big cat chuffing is just meowing but with bigger vocal chords. https://youtu.be/0vIfwD3BHU8
That is true, but cats only meow for humans, not for other cats.
that is technically a myth, most domestics cats meow primarily at humans. however, they do meow at each other occasionally. anecdotally, i have witnessed domestics "talking" non-aggressively. indoor domestics and captives in zoos are not a great way to observe the complexities of feline social interactions, this along with their elusive tendencies in some natural environments. non-domestics have no reason to communicate with a human other than to scare them, yet they meow.
They are super smart! My boys know sit, stay, high five, shake, lay down, roll over, and can fetch when the mood strikes! Honestly they're just super motivated by food/treats, so it was easy!
Thank god there was no CATastrophe.
Cats are keen observers. They teach themselves how to control their surrounding environment like nobody's business (see: learning to mimic human baby cries to get food and attention). Whereas we have molded dogs into living tools, cats have made us their bitches.
One of my cats will recognize when I am getting frustrated with his brother and will go "correct" the behaviour.
can confirm, my kitty is sleeping on my mousepad rn. Moving him isn't an option, I'm his bitch 100%.
Mine have a definitive bedtime that comes with treats (they get locked up at night in the family room with water and a litter box because they are unwilling to let me sleep the entire night through). I have been trying to train them to be able to have free reign of the house at night but invariably around 8pm every night I get yelled at, harassed, head-butted, and the list goes on until I take them downstairs to bed with treats. There is no deviating from this.
This is such a bs story. If you want to say its not, you have the video, share it. I'm assuming you'll either say something like "I accidently deleted it" or "you don't have to believe me and I don't owe you anything" and just continue to sit there thinking people believe this story.
Agreed.

What is it about pitbulls that’s making people think other things?
They tend to have very strong predator instincts and often attack smaller animals, including cats
I know its a stereotype and I don't think pitbulls are inherently bad, I know they can be sweet dogs. However, I have personally seen a pitbull go for a cat with intent to kill it, something I've not seen from any other dog breed.
Any hunting or herding breed commonly has what’s called prey drive. It’s separate from fighting and aggression, but looks similar. Pit bulls/other bully breeds are in the terrier family and terriers were historically bred for hunting, so some pit bulls do have it, but overbreeding has created a very mixed bag of genetic traits. It’s also common in shepherds, shibas, schnauzers and hounds. It can be for the chase/capture or the kill. Sometimes it’s directed at anything that moves, just small mammals, just rodents or just birds… it takes a variety of forms.
FWIW my pit bull loves cats but will pounce at pigeons if they’re conveniently close. Any smaller bird is too boring, but bigger is too scary. He’s also scared of rats.
Yeah, that's the thing, Pitbulls don't have any extraordinary prey drive qualities compared to other terrier breeds but they do have the.physical chops to do serious damage to smaller animals if they act on it.
My morky has a crazy prey drive but his saving grace is he's the same size as the cats.
Maybe it's going up around farm dogs but most dogs I've been around unless trained to leave small animals have high prey drives. The exception might be my dog who is terrified yet wants to play with every cat he sees. That being said he visits houses with cats every once and awhile.
They were specifically bred to fight
Pitbulls are, more often than other dogs, mistreated or poorly trained by their owners who think they need to be a "tough dog" and thus develop a high prey drive. There have been multiple stories recently here and on r/cathelp about cats being injured by pitbulls, and many people on the sub have anecdotal experiences wirh them harming cats, myself included.
It's not that other dogs can't hurt cats, or that pitbulls themselves are the problem (they can be just as sweet, if not sweeter, than traditionally friendly breeds like goldens or labs), it's just the combo of a shelter dog + pitbull breed that probably set off the worry alarm bells for people.

Not true at all and I foster pitbulls because of this reason. I had one that did not have their ears clipped and people loved coming up to him on the street. When I told them he was a pittie they would start to freak out, so silly, they were petting him moments before without fear. I am definitely not low IQ and am quite intellectual.
Stereotypes are bad, yo.
Stereotypes are bad, yo.
Is it really "stereotypes" when there are statistics showing how dangerous pitbulls are...
Where are the statistics? Useless post without a credible source.
Dog fighting/aggression is a completely different thing from prey drive (and human aggression, for that matter). A dog could have all three problems and training to improve one would not necessarily improve the others. Other than improving obedience overall, you’d have to address them separately. Not saying genetics play zero role in it, but you’re off-base to lump the behaviors together.
it's not genetic it's literally just owner abuse
Nope. Wrong.
dogs take a lot more care for them to be trained than most people realized and pits even more so, especially with since people tend to buy them as guard dogs then never give them any training whatsoever beyond "attack" so you end up with them being very violent since they were quite literally never taught anything else
any breed will end up doing the same if they aren't given proper training
the only reason pits are singled out for this so much is because of the societal prejudice so many people have against the people that tend to own them (lower income, minorities ect..)
There's stereotypes where pitbull aggressiveness is overblown but there's also a rational fear on what a large, strong dog with a high prey drive might do to a pair of cats unsupervised.
All of what others have said and, many dogs are large compared to cats. Even a playful dog can fatally hurt a cat by accident. And a cat, with its claws and willingness to do what it takes, can seriously injure a dog who gets too close. Any dog with a strong prey drive can be a concern, not just pits.
When I started reading, I wasn’t sure who was going to get hurt, but I was afraid an emergency trip to the vet was coming. I figured it would have been an accident, but tragic nonetheless.
Stereotypes about pitbulls
They're "stereotypes" for a reason.
Whether or not they're true they are still stereotypes lol
Because no other dog has this much documented maulings, attacks, aggression in public etc etc
You're not reading what I'm saying
I think it's a bit unwarranted. Some pits have a high prey drive, sure, but most really don't. I'd personally be more concerned about any of the working dog breeds, such as a Heeler or Australian Shepherd.
I have a Collie and he's fine with our cats. He sometimes likes to "herd" them a bit, but they play together no problem.
Edit to add: LOL yes it is possible to herd (a small number of) cats if you have a herder dog breed.
Paragraphs are your friend.
You had me in the first half.
where does the half mark go since this person has apparently never heard of a paragraph.
Cats are a$$**les, but no matter what, your pibble could destroy them in 2.5 seconds. I would have gratitude that you were able to witness the intelligence of your cats being jerks vs the other way around. Sorry, I have just heard too many tragic stories. Glad your cats are the ones in charge, but please be careful. Is a barrier gate an option? My shepherd seems to only want to play with our cat, but I don't want to riskit when I go to work.
Barrier gate is definitely an option thanks for the suggestion
you can curse on reddit
jesus fucking christ dude. Learn to use paragraphs.
Do you have a garden or porch where the doggo could hang out separately from the cats? Seems less stressful for all involved
I do not like the idea of leaving dogs outdoors same reason why I don't do cages. Just me personally as I've seen outdoor dogs live dirty, lonely, depressed lives
Crate training is not caging your dog, it's responsible ownership. It's much different than just locking your dog in a cage.
You should really consider this. Leaving your pitbull unleashed at home, unsupervised, with 2 small pets is not a bright choice. Very irresponsible.
We always have a pit. It might be worth rethinking crate training. Done right there is nothing wrong with it. My dogs are out all day but they were both crate trained and were in the crate when I was not home till about a year old. I can't leave out a puppy that cannot be trusted, they eat shit and have to get it pulled out or die before I get home. It's their safe place, that's where they go when they are scared. Also if someone brings children over they go to the crate for the first 20 minutes till they chill. They just go when they are told, it's not a struggle. Having the crate option is nice. If I tell them to go to bed they go and I don't even close the door unless they f'd up.
Edit: I guess if he's an older boy probably no reason too. Mostly I just worry about the puppies
Please post a video, that sounds hilarious
We need the video! This could make you famous!
There is no video. Just looking for attention.
Don't leave your dog for 9 hours... Especially not a Pitbull. Especially not a Pitbull you've not had very long. Especially not with other small furries in your house. 6 hours max for any dog. 2-3 hours for bull breeds. They can't cope with the anxiety of being alone. You need to build up to that 2-3 hours in tiny increments. What you are doing is not fair on your animals, please change your routine.
Seriously! I’m also appalled at the lack of proper introduction time. I mean, I guess it’s working out so far, but shelter animals have a lot of stress built up and require decompression before you even really know what they are like. And cats and dogs are both territorial and have difficulty communicating with each other. This could have gone soooo badly
It’s just a test run. You’re next
🤣😂 oh nooo you're probably right
Does your bathroom not have a toilet? The dog would have drank from there when it was thirsty.
freshest water in the house! Assuming you flushed last time you used it....
Cats are lowkey evil/maniacal. They will do bad shit just because they can lol
Was expecting the dog to rip the cats apart but instead the cats locked the dog out lol put that in the TLDR
Never underestimate the cleverness of a cat. Feel free to underestimate the intelligence of a dog. I think that's how it works. Glad everyone is otherwise fine.
Sasha and Sphinx probably let Toby out so they wouldn’t get in trouble for locking him away.
On YouTube check out cats and dogs who communicate with their owners using buttons, it’ll blow your mind how smart they are
You're not gonna share the video with us? I wanna see Toby and the cats.
I'm glad this ended differently to how I expected
I was so scared from the title.
Omg I thought I was about to read a horror story! Phew! I'm so glad this had an unexpected ending.
you know what we thought would happen to those cats when you said "recently got a pitbull" and "left them alone for 9 hours" right?
Tbh with the new Pitbull I was expecting a different outcome. Ex of mine has a pittie they was "gentle" and had a cat friend for quite some time, until it tore the cat's head off while she was at work one day. High prey-drive animals are very sketchy to leave with smaller animals. Glad this didn't turn out to be a horror show and your cats put him on "time out"
When I saw the title I was like 'oh no, something bad happened to the cats' and I was prepared for something like 'the dog mauled the cats' or something.
But no, the cats just got fed up wit the dog haha
Why wouldn't you release the footage?
Christ on a bicycle I expected the dog to kill the cats
whew
Give it 6 months. Tops. Every pitbull I've ever met loved to ragdoll cats.
You should get rid of the pitbull before it kills your cats
Post got deleted right as I went to open it. :/
They can
🎙🎶 we are siamese if you please!!
You introduced the dog... sleep with one eye open
Post the video!!
Please tell me they are Saimes 🤣🤣 this reminds me of when Sai and Am pull all the shenanigans to get Lady in trouble in Lady and the Tramp!
You'd be surprised what cats will do when annoyed 🤣🤣🤣🤣 my brother's cat use to open doors. Then there's the 2 cats my sister had that would babysit my nephew. They knew if he started to cry to either roll his bottle back with in his reach or cuddle him. They would even go and get my sister. They were also good guard cats🤣🤣 went after sis's ex when he had to crawl through a window because we all got locked out and he was the only one who could fit.
when i read the title i was very scared
I was bracing for a tragedy when I reached your second sentence. Happy it's not one of those typical pitbull stories.
Hmmmm 😒🤔🤔🤔
I was so terrified of how this would go down from the title…
I'll be honest, I feared the worst - that you were going to come home to a dog and 0 living cats. I know that cats can be intelligent (and yours taking matters into their own paws was kinda funny), but the more likely scenario in my house would be my cats locking themselves in the bathroom - which, I will admit, they have done in the past.
best outcome ever…you had me worried there for a minute.
At least your cats hadn’t been killed
Cool story bro
Sasha/Sphinx: "Today we fucked up by allowing the Human Servant to learn how intelligent we truly are"
Be glad they locked him out instead of being shredded by the pitt
Vid or I call BS
Seems like the cats have more sense than you.
LoL, and it's gone.
could you share the footage? I want to see this lol
You imply the second event was recorded. Do you also have a recording of the part where they locked him in? This could go viral.
Cats are arseholes! They know what they are doing! 🤣
It's the letting the dog out before OP got home that pushed it over the edge for me. Devious little assholes!
One of our cats can open every door in the house except the doors leading to the outside.
They ain’t stupid.
Why get a pitbull man.... Can't wait to see your dog on bestgore. Make sure you know how to choke it out just in case :).
I had a cat that always tortured our dog, so I figured it was something like that. This is way better than anything my cat ever did 🤣🤣🤣
That's actually hilarious.
But also terrifying.
That dog is likely to kill one of the cats if you leave them together unsupervised.
Yes, the dog who was lonely and got lured into a trap is the aggressor here, lol.
He's actually really sweet no history of any aggression his past owner died of old age.
They can go years with no incidents and then kill either another pet in the home or if your very unlucky a neighbors pet, a neighbor or the owner, be very careful and don't get complacent.
In most cases when this happens it's just like a cat killing a mouse, dog doesn't even know that what they're doing is wrong due to lack of care from the owner. I am not that type of owner. I don't get animals for the sole purpose of protecting me or my home like many often do. Show a dog a little bit of love and all that goes away.
I hope you’re not saying this because he’s a pit bull and not some other breed of dog.
Because it's a pit bull, yes
Not sure why you're getting downvoted for stating facts.
People think pit bulls are just mistreated or misunderstood, fact is they are less than 6% of the dogs in the US but responsible for 80% of human deaths due to dogs and 75% of deaths of pets and livestock due to dogs.
Shame on you.
Shame on him for what? Telling OP to be careful about the most dangerous dog breed? Idk, seems pretty fine to me
(Also, in general, it's a good idea to be careful in the presence of big animals)
Yeah those cats are going to be dead in 6 months bro. Congrats on adopting a murder hobo.
You should set up the video on YouTube with adds. You might make some money out of the situation LOL
I recommend doing separation exercises with Toby and giving him one of those toys puzzles with food inside before you leave.
You can set up a baby gate so the cats have upstairs for themselves.
We need the video of this. Gazelle are playing dead and cats are locking dogs in. What in the world?
Why are you leaving a dog for 9 hours alone?
Get rid of it, you shouldn't have a dog lol.
I suggest stop smoking crack while you're at work.
Bruv, if you want to be internet famous, you've gotta compile and post those videos.
Omg amazingness
Well where's the video??
