It's not good mezcal, any of the del maguay budget bottles are better than 400 rabbits.

Definitely fine as a modifier, especially here where it is just a small piece with some loud flavors, but anything where it is front and center would benefit from one of the better budget ones suggested by others

Made by the same folks who make jose quervo, so that says enough to me. But you gotta start somewhere. A few cheaper starter ones I’ve heard are del maguey vida, (especially if you want a smokier one) verde momento, banhez espadin, bozal ensamble

Essentially conejos is like Jose Cuervo for tequila.

Try something like Banhez, La Luna or Nuestra Soledad for brands with budget expressions.
