This would be amazing!
It continues to amaze me how much better and better and better the iPhone gets! Simpler to use and yet more powerful as time progresses.

I guess this works differently based on the bank, but I never had to enter any card details for mine. I just added my cards from my banks' apps and that was it. Three different banks/cards, same process.
What would the use case be for this?
Many banks, especially smaller ones it seems, don’t have that app functionality. Although it’s unclear from the article if more or less will have this new functionality - the article makes it seem like many/most will support it but isn’t explicit.
And some cards, even from major issuers like Citi, still don’t allow their cards to be added to Apple Pay at all, even manually. 🤷
My wife and I have our citi Costco card added to our Apple wallets. I’m surprised citi would have cards that can’t be added.
A couple of Citi cards I have that can't be added to Apple Pay are the Citi Sears card and the Citi Brooks Brothers card (I last tested both last month). I think they have separate login pages from the normal Citi cards - maybe Citi has different IT systems for some cards, and only Citi's primary IT system is compatible with Apply Pay?
Yea maybe that’s it. If you aren’t logging into citi website then perhaps the backend is different even though it’s labeled citi
Here is one of the login pages for example: https://citiretailservices.citibankonline.com/RSnextgen/svc/launch/index.action?siteId=PLCN_BROOKSBROTHERS
This is likely. Are these private label (e.g. not Visa, Mastercard, etc)? It’s probably a different backend system (either in house or a 3rd party processor).
Still visa/mastercard.
I don’t know about the backend systems, sorry.
I sure wish future iPhones had the ability to scan for pet microchips.
