It's no charge to swap beef or chicken with black beans, so why exactly is the "vegetarian" box more expensive??
Taco Bell discontinued the fiesta veggie burrito AND deceptively tries to charge vegetarians more money for the same product!
Can you confirm those are the actual MSRPs? Every Taco Bell in my town and neighboring towns have the regular box at $5 and the vegetarian at $5.99.
The regular combo box at my store is $5.99
The veggie box is $8.38
Between that and losing the Fiesta veggie I guess I'm done going there. It was a good run, Taco Bell, but it's over. It's not me, it's you.
I've been going to Taco Bell for years and getting fiesta veggie burritos, removing it from the menu was kinda bs because they didn't even offer up a replacement
Why was this comment downvoted? The fiesta was probably their best burrito for vegetarians. It makes sense that someone would stop going to TB after this.
Cause meat eaters are ironically(hilariously), emotionally fragile when it comes to alternatives. This is all my headcanon though. Vegetarians are pretty unanimous in loving the fiesta.
Otherwise, taco bell stans who downvote any criticism to their daily burrito dispenser. Because the common man MUST go to bat for the tiny hole in the wall business that is TB.
I eat meat and only recently discovered the fiesta veggie burrito. It so damn good. Really pisses me off they removed it.
are
im not even a vegitarian and I loved the fiesta. $2 for a nice burrito that also comes with guac is a bargain
Bring back fiesta veggie burrito!
My boxes are the same price but it's laughable to me that the extra item in the veggie box is an item off the value menu. I'll just swap out the meat in the regular box & continue getting my 5 layer with it & order my $1 cheesy bean and rice burrito or spicy potato soft taco separately.
So I recently ordered this burrito like twice in a row about a week+ ago… went to re-order it and it’s gone!!! Wtf. So as soon as I found something I really liked and was becoming a comfort food- BAM. it’s gone. 😭😭😭
Same, I’m sitting in Taco Bell right now, couldn’t find it anywhere on the menu…so I googled it, now I’m here and very bummed out.
5.99 veg, 6.59 regular for my store.
At my store, the veggie box is $5.99 and the regular box is $6.99
5.99 bro
lol at my closest location it’s $3 more expensive for a veggie box 🫠
The vegan tax.
It's like paying for cheese and sour cream that your taking off the burrito and then paying for the guacamole to replace the cheese and sour cream you took off. You put on the guac, because if you don't, you essentially are getting just rice and beans and I can do that more cheaply and easily at home. What's the point?
It is economics though. Cheese is cheap, guac is not.
Yeah that's valid. u/Charming-Produce6413 makes a valid point, but it was a terrible example. I would instead point to situations where you want to substitute some meat with beans, and they upcharge you for adding beans which are quite obviously cheaper than the meat.
Yup! Same. And they never let me “substitute” beans in exchange for not having meat, sour cream or cheese. They’re SAVING money on me, but I gotta pay even MORE!? Fuck them.
I feel the same about non dairy milk. Why the fuck do I have to pay more for that in my latte LOL
To be fair, that actually costs the coffee shop more.
They literally took away the only thing I like there it’s like they just woke up one day and decided they didn’t want to make the one thing that doesn’t have you on the toilet afterwards
I loved them. I haven’t eaten Taco Bell in years and just tried it one day over the summer since it was a pretty decent price. By far the best things they have had, now replaced with items I wouldn’t ever buy. Hopefully it comes back but they know people are paying upwards of $7.49 to customize another buritto to get it. I usually use some reward to get the $5.49 down a bit lower by customizing just the Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito. It’s the only cheapest option where I am able to re-create it. I’ve tried each burrito that’s out and that’s the lowest I can get it from its original $2.29 price. Adding the guacamole at $1.15 kills the price tag off the bat. They have balls charging that for the teaspoon they put on it when you can get a high end brand container of it for a few bucks. However people are going to pay to make it and I’m guilty of too. There is no other one I would buy so when nothing is open at 4:00AM that’s my go too.
Fr!!!!
I’m so mad I’m gonna start making black bean tacos at home.
I miss my fiesta veggie burrito 🩵
Different locations have different pricing.
By me they are still $5.99
I still get the fiesta veggie burrito. You have to order the Cheesy Bean and rice burrito and make a bunch of customizations. It's more expensive than before but it's nearly identical and still the best veggie option around. The only problem is that with all that customizations they fuck it up constantly.
I'm still going to order it though, just checking every time before I leave the drive through.
So the Veggie build your own box is 5.99 at my store. I simply add chicken to the cheese quesadilla (1.00 dollar) and chicken (1.00 dollar) to the cheesy bean and rice burrito, fiesta potatoes, and drink. Comes out to 8 bucks and change.
Good .
I hope they remove your favourite item.
YESSIIIR!
They should charge more for the fake meat substitutes compared to real meat
I mean, agreed, but black beans ain't no fake meat substitute. I WISH Taco Bell would try a plant meat
I mean, I guess that would make sense at Taco Bell considering the quality of the real meat 😬 but they dont currently offer any fake meat! so they'd really just be charging more for potatoes and beans.
It should be the same price, but franchises can set them however they want.
That being said, you're mistaken if you think it's the same box with the same items, but with vegetarian protein choices by default. It actually has different options. You can get things like the Cheese Quesadilla and Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito as part of it.
At my store both of the items you mentioned are cheaper compared to the meat items offered in the regular combo
I'm not sure what you're getting at, specifically. If you're saying that the items in the Veggie Build Your Own Cravings Box are generally less expensive items overall, you're not wrong. I wasn't saying it should be the same price because that's financially what makes sense, I'm saying it should be based on the corporate suggested price of $5.99.
It's awesome that some locations are selling it for a dollar less, though surprising.
Yeah exactly my point was that the different options offered for the veggie box are generally cheaper than the ones offered in the regular box, but the veggie box is more expensive ($3 more at the locations by me 🫠) so it’s just a rip off and price gauging vegetarians for some reason?
The suggested price is $5.99 to make it "equal" to the $5.99 BYOC standard box, but you know the franchises. They love pricing new stuff even higher. Maybe they thought it was easier to mark that one up $3 than to actually price increase existing combos.
It's 5.99 for the veggie and 7.49 for the regular at my store
I’m done with Taco Bell period. I ask to substitute black beans instead of meat and get charged EXTRA!? I also get LESS food. No sour cream and no cheese. So why am I paying extra for LESS food, and less expensive ingredients to boot? Nope. Taco Bell is no longer affordable.
Good chance the order staff are doing it wrong on the register. My sister used to work at taco bell and you can do it two ways. As I understand it, if they enter it as minus (-) beef, plus (+) bean, you get a charge b/c they ADDED bean. But if they do the sub button, it's a straight traded. You should not get charged extra. That was years ago though.
that’s still correct i worked at tacobell just til recently, you can sub meat for black beans and it’s no cost. but adding refried beans is an additional one.
I miss the FVB!
I only discovered the fiesta veggie burrito like a year ago. It was so fucking good. I can’t believe they got rid of it.
That’s your franchise is setting those prices, not Taco Bell corporate. MSRP for both is $5.99 which are the same as my store prices. My complaint is you can’t order that burrito in the veggie pic without heavy customizations.
