I recently read the Saxon series by Bernard Cornwell and really liked Uhtred as a character - especially that he was born a Saxon and raised a Dane. I like how he embodied two cultures and wasn't always quite sure where he wanted to belong. That he wasn't really recognised as either Saxon or Dane, but too Saxon for the Danes and too Danish for the Saxons.

And I need more of that.

So I look for books in which the protagonist experiences a different culture, has to adapt and learn, and perhaps change culture and allegiances completely (or not).

Other examples of this would maybe be - Daenerys Targaryen with the Dothraki from the Song of Ice and Fire - James Clavell's Shogun - Chris Bradford's Samurai series, - Daevabad Series - maybe even Feyre from ACOTAR (did not like) - The Cole Trilogy (The Physician etc by Noah Gordon) - Into the North (hated it)

I don't really like Sci-Fi, but historical stuff and fantasy is very welcome. Would love any suggestions!
