Which Toy Figures? Should I go for LEGO?

I am a stop-motion noob, still 'learning' from youtube videos and reading up on the topic. I wish to know which toy figures should I purchase for my first stop-motion movie? Is there an advantage using LEGO? Which LEGO sets are recommend? What alternatives do I have?

Advice: Teaching Stop Motion Question

Hello, I'm exploring hosting a stop motion workshop at for teens at my work, a public library. So far I have watched some you tube videos and read a few books on production, and it makes sense. I plan to make my own stop motion film just to get the hang of the material before teaching about it.

  1. How long should I require their film be? Since this program would likely be over 3-5 afternoons I'm thinking 30 seconds to a minute?

  2. I'm assuming for the sake of time I should already have chosen a format/style for them (legos, whiteboard, etc.). What do you suggest?

  3. Do you have any teaching or general information about stop motion animation that I should know about?

Thanks in advance!

Anyway to get figure to balance without resorting to drilling into the figure?Question

Hi, I have been doing stop motion as a hobby for a while now, the main problem i always come up with balancing figure using stand or some sort of rig. I'm using figure that are quite expensive (imports figure if you are into figure collecting) and they doesn't have any hole built in it. Right now I'm using the hand-stand but the result mixed since the hand sometimes can't balance the figure that aren't normal built (like hulk or ironman since those are heavier than standard plastic figure) and they are really hard to remove or cant remove at all when you are compositing the animation.
