Fences?

I am planning on putting up a fence so I can just let my st Bernard out without having to have him on a lead or leash. Anyone have any recommendations for what kind of fence? I am currently leaving towards chain link but am not sure if the normal 11.5 gauge would work or if I should go with 9 gauge. Also I am thinking of doing 6ft but would 5 ft work? My puppy is only 4 months old but seems to be pretty lazy and doesn't really jump or anything. The most I'm worried about is when he get the zoomies and if he happened to run head first into the fence. Any thought are appreciated! Thanks

Pros and cons? Thinking of getting a St Bernard pup

Hi all,

We are a family of 5 (we have three kids under the age of 5) and we were considering a St Bernard puppy to add to our family. I want to make sure it’s a good fit first! We have had a dog in the past that was only 30 pounds so this would be new for us having a dog this size. What are the pros and cons? Are they aggressive at all? We are wanting a dog that absolutely loves children and people. Our last dog never lashed out even once, even the times when the babies would accidentally pull on his tail etc. He was very patient and unthreatening to anyone who entered our home and any age.

Do they sleep most of the day? We go to sports activities a lot, we are on the go but my husband and I work from home so there’s always someone here. Getting a walk in would have to be in the late afternoon or during a lunch break. We have a yard with grass. I also wondered how often they need to be groomed? And benefits of having a female vs male? Lastly, does size of house matter? We are in a 1500 sq ft home. Thank you!

Entropion recovery advice

Does anyone have recommendations for eye protection post-entropion surgery that is not a cone?

Our Saint has pretty severe entropion in both eyes and is having surgery soon to correct it. I know we will need to keep her eyes protected from herself while she recovers but she is a full-grown lady and our old house has a lot of narrow doors and hallways so I'm worried about her crashing into things with the cone and hurting herself in the process. Our first Saint was an absolute menace with a cone and would deliberately crash into things to try and break it or get it loose enough to pull it off.

I've been looking at protective goggles but I'm not sure if they will rub up against the incision sites or not.

Parents (74 and 80) are wanting to get a 9month old St. Bernard. Good idea?

My parents lost their 70 lb golden retriever less than a year ago. Since then, they have continued to attend dog training class as a handler for this St. Bernard that was rescued. The type of training they do is therapy dog training and dog dancing (seriously). My concern is with walking and her being a puppy and freaking out. I don’t live far and can help out occasionally but they would be the ones walking her. Do y’all think a St. Bernard would be a good fit for active seniors?

My 11 y/o female has a tumor in rear leg. Im very worried

As said above, she's an oldie sweetheart, she developed a a tumor/cancer in the rear left leg. its spread to her lungs as well. All the doctors i've talked to suggested amputation, there is still risk of the cancer spreading even after amputation. So im really worried. Please any help or advice will be so welcomed.

Im really worried and terrified

Edit: Thanks for all suggestions
