The paper and linked video within are well considered. The exhibits and calculations of Trainer are difficult to refute, and thus have great instructive value.

Correctly identified within are the greatest challenges to degrowth which are barriers to adoption. Trainer is not an accelerationist per se, but seems resigned to rely on a societal breakdown occurring before his “simpler way” appears attractive to enough people to make a difference.

The issue of an ecological culture being imposed from a central authority vs a grassroots example is worthy of debate.
