[David Ornstein] - Bayern Munich enquired for Lopetegui but he wants West Ham
TransfersLopetegui: Sorry, boys. West Ham are just the bigger club.
Biggest*
MASSIVEEEEEE
My FM save when I win the CL twice with fiorentina in 5 years and the contract decision is “x club has a much better squad and it wasn’t a hard decision to make” 😭
Sorry what the fuck do you mean "Bayern enquired but he wants West Ham". Literally how the fuck is that a sentence?!
West Ham is the biggest team in London, they are also bigger than Real Madrid, makes sense.
Ya, don’t be disappointed. Moyes is available.
You joke but Bayern are running out of managers to court
Going to be really interesting to see who goes there by next season. It'll be like their 8th option and the manager knows they were that far down the pecking order too, suppose some wouldn't mind it is Bayern after all.
Yeah you get that far down the list and the managers are just counting their blessings rather than feeling insulted. I wager they'll give it to some unknown rather than someone like Moyes. Or they'll dig Löw or Flick out lmao
Bring back my goat (Heynckes)
Someone ring up the care home
his wife already unplugged all phones, no chance
it's time for müller player/manager adventure
That's a shout tbh, I don't know if they have a 2nd club sort of like Madrid/Barcelona do where they could just cherry pick someone who understands the club from top to bottom better than some random i guess.
Bayern Munich II is managed by Holger Seitz. It seems a massive jump considering Bayern II play in the Regionalliga Bayern, but if they want a caretaker, that's certainly an option. Should've got their ducks in order before sacking Tuchel tbh, they used to be a well run club once upon a time
they should take Brendan Rodgers. Please.
Have they considered the one, the only, Graham Potter?
Probably
I think there’s at least 10% that we trade managers. We have to see if Ratcliffe and his team decide that Ten Hag is underperforming because of lack of support and injuries, and therefore decide to give him another season…

Watch them get Mourinho and dominate.
Moyes will be on the market soon.
I thought so too until I checked which managers are available right now on the Transfermarkt website. There are plenty of high profile managers without a job.
They're gonna have to settle for Mourinho at this rate lol
Everyone wants to manage the champions of Europe
1 world cup is bigger than 14 champions leagues
Well they are at least the biggest in East London
West Ham has the second highest average attendance in the Premier League after Manchester United. West Ham is a huge club, just not particularly successful.
Maybe he just doesn’t want to work for your incompetent bunch of old men who’ll have him out of a job in a month.
Premier League wages and living in London are appealing too.
You really didn't take us serious when we said West Ham is massive.
One might even go so far as to say they’re fucking massive.
West Ham are massive, if you will
Lopetegui remembers Real Madrid stint. Doesn’t want to repeat the same.
That has to be one of the most disastrous managerial signings of all time. It lost him the Spain job meaning he spent two years coaching them without managing them at a tournament, Spain themselves then have a pretty dreadful showing at the tournament, and after all of that he gets fired from Madrid less than 3 months into the season
Was totally the wrong time to take over. This was a weak Real Madrid team that had given up on the league title as early as December in the previous season. That they won that CL only peppered over the cracks and Zizou knew it was always going to be a tall order, achieving much in the next season.
this sounds like Bayern this season lmao
First time we realised Rubiales might be a bit of a prick.
Ruined his career, he's scraping for mid table jobs in England now
Ruined his career
On a post about how he rejects Bayern freaking München
Lol ruined his career because he's a really good manager but his conservative way of playing is not feasible at top clubs.
I think he's a top class international manager because his way of playing is so defensively attacking that it chokes out the opposition due to them not having the ball but in league football many are happy to play for a draw against the top clubs.
Yeah, I think he's the type of manager that excels at an upper midtable club. It's a slightly different type of management than the truly elite. Emery seems to be another example.
No shame to it, different people excel at different things.
Yep Emery is the perfect example of this kind of manager. If you look at the league finishes of his clubs for his career he's more often than not finished outside of the CL places, he even managed to lose the ligue 1 a during his first season at PSG. He's just not suited for a top club where you're expected to be on the front foot constantly. That's why his style works so well in cup competitions
athletico madrid, mou's chelsea, juve, ferguson's man utd in many away fixtures in europe, madrid away to city... many top teams play pragmatic football when needed.
“Scraping” is one way of describing it when you’re getting paid in millions
It's all relative
Scraping for prestige compared to the top teams I guess... But yeah, still rich as hell.
Well apparently top German team was inquiring about him
West Ham won the World Cup in 1966.
They are massive, everywhere they go.
BTW a club soccer (football) team actually was Olympic champion once.
It was… Canadian.
British amateur team Upton Park won the first ever Olympic tournament in 1900. Their home ground? West Ham Park. So, I'm counting that as West Ham winning the Olympic Games and World Cup!
Bayern have never won the World Cup
They’re trying to mislead the read into thinking he actually chose Bayern over West Ham when in reality they probably enquired about looooads of managers just in case then needed an emergency plan
counterpoint: misreading makes it funnier, therefore better
They’re trying to mislead the read into thinking he actually chose Bayern over West Ham
How??? The title says that he wants West Ham. Where is the trick?
i understand these words individually. when put together i register static
Bayern asked him and he must have told them that he has signed/is about to sign with West Ham so they moved on.
Lopetegui really likes bubbles
Bayern changed their strategy after Rangnick. Instead of going after one manager at a time they are going after multiple at the same time. Lopetegui knows this and doesn't want to miss out on West Ham for a chance at Bayern If he is not the first on the list.
West Ham is huge, mate
He loves the dildo brothers
Maybe he likes American sweet shops
Why go to Bayern when you can get paid just as much to half the job at West Ham?
Because Bayern are probably only giving him only a placeholder role so they can go after Xabi Alonso while West Ham are giving him a real project
The Twitter word limit didn't allow him to type European Champions West Ham United.
Less pressure at West Ham than at Bayern if stuff gets a bit tougher I guess
My assumption is that West Ham have already made commitments to employ him, while Bayern have simply just called to check in on him and loosely promise talks if he's available. Probably didn't even say he's their number 1 option either.
I would hazard a guess, that bayern is in a terrible situation for a club that size and inheriting a toxic dressing room likely means they will get worse before they get better and even if you do a good job fixing that you won't get much praise. It's like how Emery took over after wenger left. Just wrong decision for his career.
West Ham have an incredibly talented squad that if a good coach takes over will be competiting for europa league. Paqueta, Bowen and Kudus are 3 of the best attacking players in the league and Alvarez is a quality DM too.
Joins elite company of managers that rejected Bayern this year
Rejecting Bayern is so hot right now!
Once again, I will take the Bayern job and my only demands are thus: permanent German citizenship for my family and me, a decent house with a garden, a German tutor, and 200k/yr.
Moyes and Lampard next
Bayern are getting rejected for West Ham tf never thought id see the day
West Ham are massive
Bayern can go for Moyes
Number of European trophies in the past 12 months
West Ham: 1
Bayern: 0
Señor Bayern, the numbers don't lie
And they spell disaster for you at Sackerfice.
Bayern added Kurt Angle to the mix and that’s why they had no chance of signing Lopetegui
Kurt Angle is an Olympic Gold Medalist, maybe he would be someone for Bayern
Well thats a great idea, thanks for that.
Also if you suggest that to our board I will take a piss in your mailbox.
Honestly surprised we are not all over Potter.
Why settle for Moyes? Should be straight in for Big Sam.
There’s a difference between an employer actively recruiting you for months and an employer shooting you a text after every other candidate declines.
Bayern to Lopetegui: You up?
"Yes, yes I am.. ..up the irons!"
Excuse me, that’s UEFA Europa Conference League Winners West Ham
They enquire for managers that they don’t end up making approaches for quite often I believe
Whoever takes the bayern job has a very high chance of getting sacked before christmas and an even higher chance to get sacked next summer as soon as a top manager is available.
Bayern its time to stop messing around and come get Daniel Farke, he is German and knows the league what can go wrong
Who do you want to manage us next season out of curiosity?
Rooney is available and he knows the league 😉
Rather follow rugby than follow a Rooney managed Leeds.
How about Lampard then, also available and also knows the league?
Please I really don’t want to have to follow rugby.
Could I offer you one... Steven Gerrard?
I wonder what Tim Sherwood is up to these days.
What about Scott Parker
Graeme Souness is a manager who has been unfairly defined by his career of managerial failure.
Looks like @xdlols has no choice except rugby
One Clive Woodward coming up
James Milner
Would be an interesting shout when he retires in 20 years.
I wanted Corberan last summer and I would take him again now regardless if we go up or not if it was up to me. Think west brom win the play offs though so he will be in the prem before us lol
You guys can have Moyes 😉
Is he not good for you guys? Thought he was
He is ok, we obviously had a solid season but im not a big fan. We play boring football, he cant effect a game tactically with subs or formation changes and our only tactic when attacking is pass to Summerville and hope he scores a world class goal. He is just an average championship manager in my eyes, nothing more
Yeah I mean he was shit in Gladbach, but I figured that was only because we're just generally shit right now
At this point even Gerrard, Lampard, and Rooney would reject Bayern.
Gary Neville it is then.
Does Gary owe Uli a favour?
Gary currently on a mini vacation and can't receive calls.
With Carragher as assistant
Bah Gawd is that Mourinho's music !!
- Short term manager who helps team win
- Does well with old players
- Loves Kane and Dier
- Loves on field captains
- Don't care if you burn bridges with him after
I mean.....If you're considering the Fat English Trio, then might as well go for Mourinho.
Agree. Get him for 1 single year until a manager they actually want as longterm replacement is available.
He will do good i‘m sure
Constant cycle of 1 year managers incoming
I think Mourinho has enough self-respect not to be treated as a stop-gap.
Mourinho terrorism against Xabi tikki takka. Golden age of german football
He honestly could be the best choice left for them at this point.

And they're still paying him are they not?
Probably not, usually coaches stopp getting paid when they take another job and he is the German Nationalcoach
They negotiate a severance package. Since his wage was likely higher at Bayern than Germany, he's likely still paid (a bit) by Bayern.
Not anymore, since he is coach of our NT the contract got terminated
Thank god
Just bell that Naglesmann again.
I have a dream that one day people will get his name right
Considering hiring whoever made that Ten Hag bot a few years ago.
I miss that bot. Crazy how many times I still see Ten Haag lol
Or when people spell it Frankie de Jong
Firminho
Firminho is so funny as a Brazilian. Inho is used as diminutive which implies his name is Firme, aka, Steady.
McGuire
Erikson
Nail's man
Nag less man. It's just a typo.
Hey I checked myself immediately! It was actually a typo/autocorrect that stung me. It's hard as a Brit since we don't end many words, let alone names, with double consonants. We get that easy ride overall though for sure.
Hey at least you spelled it in a way that should make it much more difficult to horrifically mispronounce his name
I wake up every night to nightmares of this supposed 'Nay-Gels-Man'
I don't mind misspellings, but you know the name is still wrong, right? It's not a double-consonant thing atm. You wrote Naglesmann instead of Nagelsmann.
You got me. My bad. Blame Kuehne and Nagle for that.
The board reeally wanted another year without a league to spice things up
At this point why not go for Hansi Flick?
This is just Mendes selling his client, there's no way in hell Lopetegui prefers West Ham over Bayern. They have been linking Lopetegui with every top club in the world , seems very dodgy
wouldnt have put this past west ham owners trying to stir hype either
So Sullivan can tell the fans that they hired a manager that Bayern wanted
Honestly if lopetegui prefers stability and longevity, over glory and popularity i can see why he prefers West Ham
‘Ate Oktoberfest
‘Ate Adidas
‘Ate Bayern
Luv London
Luv Chippys
Luv West Ham
Simple as
What is this headline? What are Bayern doing?
lopetegui aware his level
That can’t be true
Why??????
Maybe he knows with Bayern he'll be out of a job before the winter
I am more befuddled than that Bayern went for him
Julen Lopetegui, Wolves legend
at least half those that have rejected Bayern will be out of a job by the winter
Maybe the enquiry was just an enquiry and not an offer
Bayern changes managers like T shirts, so it's a bad club for a manager who wants stability.
Because no one wants to deal with the idiots upstairs making all the wrong decisions all the time and then throw the manager under the bus to cover their asses
Okay geez fine, I'll coach Bayern. Can't see them getting rejected for West Ham lol.
At this point, I think Bayern should just go managerless for the next season.
No tactics, fitness tests, or coaching: just vibes.
So you’re telling me Frank Lampard is interested in the Bayern job?
Muller player-coach it is then.
How badly run is Bayern that they're in the champions league semi finals, they're destined to be in next year's title race, they're one of the top 10 teams in the world yet managers are tripping over each other to not manage them and would rather go to West Ham?
The Hoeneß effect.
How crazy is it that people lap up these media stories which are clearly planted by Mendes trying to sell his client
Just because they enquired doesn’t mean he was offered the job lol
What do you think they enquired about? The opening times for the local Aldi? They enquired about his interest in the job.
It's what you do when you're looking for a coach. Liverpool does the same but when you're a journalist you know Bayern getting told no gets you more clicks. Just cause they ask does not mean they seriously consider bringing that coach into the club
It's more the opposite. They enquire because they have considered him; even if he is low down in their list of options, he's still on the list. They wouldn't enquire about the availability of someone they have no interest in whatsoever, that would just be a waste of everybody's time.
‘Hee would he be open, we’d like to talk to him and see if there’s a possible match there’
-West Ham is concrete, and he can sign tomorrow, so unless you can make guarantees, he’s going there.
‘Yeah we can’t do that, have a nice day’
Bayern has inquired about his availability, and he prefers to go with the certain thing instead of throwing that away on a long shot
no one wants to go there just to sit on a bench and watch how the board makes all decisions for you
What a time to be alive
Xabi, Negelsmann, Rangnick, Zidane, and now Lopetegui.
Wtf is going on here?
Bayern has Kane, every manager knows that they can't win titles now and will be sacked.
Bayern have been treating their last 2 managers horribly. They are a side that has incredible expectations but can't keep up financially with the absolute top anymore, so they are facing an uphill battle longterm if things continue like this. The club is also ran by an elderly person that can't let go of power and will talk to the press on impulse.
You are setting yourself up to be responsible for disappointment if you take that job.
I mean they have a billion dollar team. How can you claim that they can't keep up financially with the absolute top when they have one of the most expensive squads in the world
I love seeing Bayern being refused left and right, but this one, I don't believe it.
He was rumored with Milan, and he had the West Ham job on hold for us, we moved to other options (thank god!) so he agreed to West Ham, I doubt Bayern ever offered anything...
I also reject the opportunity to manage FC Bayern Munich
That’s a bizarre sentence to read
Rejected.
What is going on in Munich?? These coach saga seems unreal. Waiting for Jupp coming back from 6th retirement
They're gonna spend so much time being rejected by everyone that Klopp will have had a rest from a sabbatical and will be ready to go. 5d chess
nobody is buying this lmao
bayern taking more L's than drake lmao
With his rejection he showed character and qualified to be Bayern coach. 👍🏼
Is there any coach left for Bayern?
Moyes! It's your time!
Bayern manager job is like being Henry the viii next wife. Who wants all that drama from the front office
i see it! WH are in a perfect position for someone who is looking for a project. solid fan base. awesome location. amazing stadium. underperforming. i'm biased as i have a huge place in my heart for WH but 🤷🏻♂️
Is Ornstein high or something?
The only alternatives right now:
- Mourinho
- Bordalás
Wild sentence that
When the manager is treated the way Bayern upper leadership treated Nagelsmann, then Tuchel, it is not so surprising that some managers will avoid that club like the plague. They really need to sort themselves out, show professionalism and restore trust in the workplace.
