My personal favorite is the dunmer because of the deep lore embedded in their culture. I still don't know a lot of dunmer lore but I like what I've already learned. Share some of your favorite races lore.
I started first time as Argonian because I like reptiles... Turtles 🐢 🐢 🐢 🐢 lol but the perks seems good too, 50 off disease, and water breathing... I knew nothing about the game at all lol so turned out to be alright, wish I could have tail whipped a couple enemies but didn't turn out that way lol
I started my first playthrough as a Breton. I unfortunately sided with the stormcloacks so I should've done a nord.
Lol I'm a rebel I sided with stormcloaks as an Argonian and Imperials as a Nord 😅
That's funny because I started by first Oblivion game as an Argonian because at the time I thought water breathing and disease resistance would be OP.
Yeah seemed like it would be a good fit, except nothing is underwater and disease can be cured so easily lol but your the most bad ass Reptile in Tamriel
A lot of argonian talk under a person who says their favorite race is a dark elf those races let’s just say as had a rough past cough slavery cough
100m sprint.
Bosmer. Because they’re just little guys. It was awesome in Morrowind because they were sexually dimorphic.
This one prefers Khajiit. This one likes being a sneaky thief assassin. Also, the way this one speaks is so much better than the way other races speak. Plus, this one is furry and knows other races secretly wish they were furry also.
I always play as Bretons for the base 25% magic resistance, but for lore it's Redguards because of their Sword Singers. And if they had an exclusive Sword Singer ability in the game I would always play as a Redguard, hopefully that'll happen with ES6.
I normally play a Breton, for the magic resistance early on. But I like the Argonians too because their lore is pretty cool.
I don't knlw much about their lore but i like high elves. They look cool and i like playing as a mage so their passives are great.
Argonian looked cool to my 12yo self, 12 years later I've never played any other race. It would feel wrong at this point
Loyal lizard 🗡️🦎🛡️
Snow elves. Ik, they're gremlins now but their architecture and them rivaling the cultures of the ayleid despite living in a harsh environment just made me love them. Well, for living races now, I'd say the nords. They fight tooth and nail to what they believe in despite how stupid their cause is, which to me, is but admirable and laughable ahahaha
Same Dunmer because Dagoth Ur sounds absolutely hilarious
The dunmer are the superior race as dagoth ur says
Khajiit. Because 🐱
There are 2 ways of viewing the Khajiiti:
☀️ Cats
⛈️ Furries
Snow elves. Not the betrayed, the original snow elves of which there's only one exemplary remaining.
Maybe they fascinate me because they are EW but not EX. Sincerely, I don't have a certain answer as of why I like them.
I found a mod that lets me choose snow elf as my race. This is why I started my third playthrough.
Dunmer are one of my favourites because they love argonians more than anybody else.
The dunmer would neeeever enslave the argonians
Just what kind of person would do such a thing.
The Argonians also love dunmer so much that they came to Morrowind from black marsh just to say hi
Inseparable. Always trying to one-up each other.
Nord, I tend to go vampire, and the skin tones being off after the change always bothers me. The lightest skin tone for the nord with black hair and beard always made my preferred vampire look.
I've played more hours as a Breton than anything else (my first Breton character has had 5 years pass in-game). Their abilities are super useful for any build and it's great watching this tiny Breton just wreck these 6-foot Nords and Thalmor
Khajiit, because stealth
Argonian, because waterbreathing
Altmer, 'cause their the tallest and that saves real time for me. They also live long lives so I can RP a character who's been through TES:III, TES:IV and TES:V.
Khajit gang fr
Playing with beastren pawns in DD2 kinda made me want to replay skyrim again and only have a khajiit follower maybe get a khajiit spouse as well
The Indianapolis 500. Because of where it's held.
First playthrough I was a Redguard. Second one I was a Nord. Third and longest I was a Khajit.
This time, second longest and soon to be longest playthrough, I'm playing as a Bosmer. Figured as an outdoorsy kinda guy of smaller stature, Bosmer actually fits me best. I like trying different races out but I think I'll stick with this wood elf a while!
Breton. I like being a big bearded fellow. I play 1 life characters so the resistances help out early game and late game helps me min max so I barely take any damage.
Khajiit, because claws and night vision. Also like the ears on that race
My first game was Oblivion when I was about 10 and I first played as an argonian cus waterbreathing sounded cool. Most games I’ve played as a Nord, because I like hitting people with swords and axes and stuff, and they kind of look a bit like me
Always Orc. No other races can replicate double damage once a day, whereas every other racial ability can be replaced by something else.
Argonians waterbreathing, resist poison and histskin fast healing can be replaced by potions and a resist poison clothing item.
Bretons magic resist and absorb magicka can be replaced with item enchants and a standing stone (This is an obvious second place choice as choosing Breton frees up an enchantment slot and standing stone ability for something else).
Dark elves resist fire is an enchanted item, and ancestors wrath is just the flame cloak destruction spell.
High elves highborn is just a few potions, although I will say that the +50 magicka cannot be replicated. Any other race could put 50 points into magicka, but the Altmer will always be the equivalent of 5 levels ahead in terms of raw numbers. Add to this a slight increase to running speed due to their height and this would be my pick for 3rd best race.
Imperials finding more gold becomes irrelevant around mid game, and prowlers profit eclipses it entirely once acheived. Their voice of the emperor is just a more convenient version of Calm/Harmony. I have never taken a pure Illusion build past around level 50 though so somebody let me know if these spells become useless at very high levels. I was under the impression that potions and perks would help greatly.
Khajits are a weird one. Their night eye can -sort of- be replaced by the vision of the tenth eye spell, but it only lasts 30 seconds and would quickly become infuriating. Nobody wants to be a werewolf just to see in the dark either. Their extra melee damage stacks with every other melee damage boost and so can't be rivalled in terms of raw numbers in unarmed. Now I think about it, I haven't tested whether the Orcs berserker rage could ever provide more unarmed damage than the khajit +12 (+15 with USSEP), but I always assumed it could. I might be wrong on this.
Nords battle cry falls into the same category as the voice of the emperor, and once again I would like to see how the fear spells compare to it at high levels with potions taken into account.
Redguards resist poison is an enchantment away, and potions can replace adrenaline rush.
Wood elves resist poison is again just an enchantment, and resist disease I just replace by carrying some hawk feathers. Command animal can be acheived with the animal allegiance shout, and reading all 10 emblems on the way up to high hrothgar stops animals attacking me in the first place for a full 24 hours real time.
I would say it's a tie between Altmer, Dunmer, and Bretons. Dunmer have some of if not THE deepest lore and a very exotic and interesting culture, the Altmer are the oldest current civilization, with tons ot history and impact on the world, and based on the Morrowind era lore they have incredibly intricate and beautiful architecture and a strong connection to the Gods, and Bretons for their kick-ass medieval style castles and court intrigue, and their cultural beliefs of chivalry and making your way in the world.
Caucasian
Caucasian? Where are they from? Do they know Skyrim belongs to the Nords? /s
white
I play on survival mode, so I only go either nord or wood elf. Depending on my play style.
