Just say “it’s a comedy”
A comedy it is, sir!
I never considered that angle. It always surprised me that they could afford all that on a shoe salesman’s salary. Was there any subtext in the show that suggested Peg was a sex worker?
There's an episode where on Father's Day, Al made Peggy do the work around the house which made him become aroused and wanted to have sex with her despite her not being in the mood
Peggg, let’s have sex.

He was able to afford a house because many American sitcoms are heavily influenced by early sitcoms like I Love Lucy and the Honeymooners, that aired in an era in which a single working class man could support a household. Same reason Homer is able to do it.

There's that one episode her mother worked at a phone sex line. "You're cooking with Butter"
