Im sorry but this isnt husky behavior and im not sorry but 2% is spit in the lake.
Not a husky. If my boy ever showed his teeth in a way like that he would know about it. My boy is 9 this year and sooooo loving. Never ever ever looked like this. Not even around my 2 year old kid.
I’ve got 2 huskies and not one of them do this. Doesn’t look like he’s being stubborn or throwing a “husky” tantrum, it looks like food aggression. I certainly wouldn’t put my hands near that bowl!
Don’t put that on our huskies!
Oh ffs SHE is not being food aggressive, this is part of our ritual to get her to eat. husky is a state of mind
lol why are you so angry? 😭 As a husky owner, you’re reaching that this is “husky” behavior. It looks like food aggression🤷♂️
Showing teeth around their food bowl isn’t a husky being stubborn 😂
I’m not angry. I’m frustrated that you people are missing the point. It’s not about being food aggressive and whether or not huskies are/aren’t. It’s about so-called “stereotypical” breed behavior that crosses breed lines. Such as being stubborn, yelling at the world, howling, shedding all over the place ALL the time, refusing to continue walking to the point of laying down (in protest), and requiring elaborate rituals in order to consider eating their food (as in playing the “I’m gonna get your food” game)
I get that, but you posted here, so you gotta expect differing opinions. And my opinion is food aggression and it’s not husky behavior.
Regardless of breed characteristics, as that seems to be your focus here, this pup is showing clear signs of stress/distress with the nervous licking and bare teeth. They respond every time you point to the food, getting close to it. When they're baring their teeth and doing this nervous licking, would you feel entirely comfortable reaching out and touching their mouth? I absolutely wouldn't, even if it was my own pup acting like this.
Whatever you think you're doing with this pup and their food is not healthy or wise. You should share this video with your primary care veterinarian as well as a consult with a veterinary behaviorist if you are so adamantly against accepting suggestions from people online. See what those two professionals say and suggest.
Also, this pup is very underweight and should have more calories in their diet.
Yes, some pups are naturally more lean, but you can see so many bones clearly protruding from the back and ribs. Rottweilers and Sharpeis are naturally not lean dogs. Healthy huskies can be, but they're not this lean(even when feeling through their floof).
Please, again, consult with your veterinarian, both on their displayed stress response here as well as for diet improvements.
OMFG people. I teach special education and knew that reading comprehension was on the decline in the succeeding generations but now I see its genesis.
No. SHE is not a husky. Had you read my text description or any of my replies to comments, you would see that I was making a connection to a rather famous husky owner’s post about how being a husky is a “state of mind”
No. SHE is not in distress. She is 49% Rottweiler. As I mentioned in a comment, this post was all about transcending breed-specific stereotypes. However, some behaviors are very much breed-specific, i.e., rottie rumbles/rottie purr. Please do yourself a favor and google it. Whether you love or hate Cesar Milan, he is notorious for working with Rottweilers, infamously walking a huge pack of them around LA when he first came to the country. He speaks about this phenomenon and does reactions to videos far scarier than this that show it’s a #RottieThing
Yes. She is skinny. She had Cushing disease, thyroid disease, liver disease, a liver tumor and numerous food allergies. She is on a <5% fat diet. It is extraordinarily difficult for her to gain weight. She is very limited in what she can eat. So from time to time she gets a little tired of eating the same few things. Hence, the elaborate feeding ritual where I pretend to steal her food as an enticement to get her to eat. I also hand feed her. Explain how she is stressed and food aggressive if I can hand feed her?
How about instead of immediately rushing to judgement you 1. Read what is written and try to understand what it says and 2. Ask questions about that which you are unsure rather than pronouncing judgement?
Just a thought.
Wow, you're an arrogant ass.
Keep doing exactly what you're doing, the knowledge that you will eventually get bitten makes me smile.
Doesn’t like differing opinions , lets insult their intelligence. That’ll teach em! 😂
Can’t insult the nonexistent.
I know they say dogs and owners begin to resemble each other. I rather imagine there’s a r/moonmoon for people like you. Except instead of pictures of dogs being adorable doofuses, it’s screenshots of people so badly missing the point, they couldn’t get it if it pierced their heart.
The sub that I asked advice about didn’t validate what I’m already doing, and I can’t admit I’m wrong, so I rage deleted my post. We’re better off without you, yo.
Thank you for proving my point about missing the point (and the abysmally poor reading comprehension levels) 🤦🏼
Thank you for showing your obvious ad hominem.
Actually, since I am the one making the claim, and all of you are the ones contradicting “a claim” (not refuting MY central point/making a refutation/making a counter argument) without evidence or proof, to the point of this becoming a straw man fallacy, I fail to see how ad hominem applies. I am not arguing against my own claim; rather, I’m trying to defend it, however the point/claim keeps eluding most.
Give this poor guy a sandwich. Like a foot long.
