Recently I've been in a huge reading slump and so as to get out from that I need y'all to please recommend me some of your fav shoujo manga :(
I would prefer manga over manhwa, manhua or webtoons!
Edit:
Thank you everyonee for your recommendations<3
I'll read the first 30 shoujo manga recommended here
Crazyy how 3-4 out of these are ones that im like yup will def start reading this now but then i just don't. I guess this is a sign to finally read those haha. Thank you<3
haha Yeah! Read them, they are so good! I have read all the ones I named XD I'm still not done with Red River though but I'm almost there LOL
I seee, I usually get lazy when it comes to old manga coz the artstyle just doesn't do it for me maybe coz I started off with reading modern ones and then just fixated in reading manga from that timeline. So I'm kind of scared to start off with the old artstyle coz what if I hate it and getting out of my comfort zone is a huge reason as well BUT well you gave me a reason to read them so I will definitely, coz one day or the other I had to step out of my comfort zone asjkdsk (I RANTED A LOT SORRY)
no, no,no, that's such a valid reason, I sometimes can't read some Shoujos cuz the art is just too much. In that case skip Sailor Moon haha the plot is not as strong as the other ones I mentioned. Maybe skip D.N Angel, it's old too and maybe start with Skip beat or Tokyo crazy paradise since both were created by the same author.
Skip Beat is still ongoing and Tokyo crazy paradise is completed, both are phenomenal, Toky crazy paradise is goofy and fun to read oh and the fight scenes are gorgeous! I haven't found another Shoujo author that can draw like Nakamura, her action scenes are like Shounen level. The angles, the power behind them LOL
I adore Skip beat, Tokyo crazy paradise and Red river. All of these have beautiful plotlines that keep you engaged while scratching that shoujo-itch. Highly recommended!
Right!!! I've read Skip Beat and Tokyo crazy paradise twice XD I can't get enough LOL for Red River, I had to start it again because I forgot where I left off but I'll finish it this year for sure LOL
Princess jellyfish
Edit : wait that's josei.
I am currently reading "oresama teacher" so that one
Came here to say Princess Jellyfish too...
If that doesn't fit the category, I'd suggest Emma (by Karou Mori) or Kamisama Kiss (by Julietta Suzuki)...I read the manga first then discovered that all 3 got anime adaptation 🤩
Seconding kamisama kiss, the anime was honestly great I feel like they managed to do its best based on how little shoujo was being adapted. But the manga is so much better !!!
I'm like 95% sure that Emma is seinen, so even further out of the category than Princess Jellyfish. 🤣
Yeah, it ran in Comic Beam, a seinen magazine. (It is great, though.)
never heard of emma but ofc kamisama kiss is top tier, you gave me a reason to reread it haha
ig someone else also recommended princess jellyfish so I'll give it a try^^
What a dangerous promise to make! All it takes is someone to go "Glass Mask Crest of the Royal Family Chihayafuru Skip Beat Yona Kaze Hikaru" and you're on the hook for 300+ volumes 😃
But ok. I'll go for something that you might not have read: Descending Stories. It's a multi-generation story about flawed and often short-sighted but mostly earnest people trying to keep a traditional art alive. I really enjoy the character designs - lots of excellent smug and scornful faces.
Rakugo is goated. Highly underrated josei
hahaha I didn't think that through at all, thank youu for the rec will start with this one then<3
QQ Sweeper and Queen‘s Quality by Kyousuke Motomi :)
I second this!
HOLY CRAP I JUST CHECKED OUT THE ART STYLE, I'm in LOVE
Then if you haven't read Dengeki Daisy you should read that also, it's the same author. And also an age gap romance, since you mentioned further down that you love age gaps.
Okiee added that to my list as well<3
Oh my lord!! The flashbacks! I read that when I was 13/14. I remember being so engrossed that I had to finish it in days.
I actually just read it for the first time last year and I was the same way, haha. I couldn't put it down and I was so sleep deprived for like 3 days.
All of this creator's officially translated works (QQ+sequel, Dengeki Daisy, and 2-vol Beast Master) are on the VizManga app, and you can read them with a really low subscription price! (like $2/month) It should give you plenty to read, but once you catch up, Queen's Quality is simulpubbed by chapter with the JP release :) All have print release too if you prefer! I'm a longtime fan of the artist's work!
I don't have a part time job or anything so I pretty much don't have any money to support the author coz the concept of pocket money doesn't exist at my house sooo gonna read it from a pirated site :/ But QQ will def be the first one I'll read from all the recommendations, LOVED its art style so much! Will add beast master to my list as well thankyouuu🩷
Have fun and enjoy it! :)
I hadn’t read manga in years and then I picked Ao Haru Ride and was in love again.
bro it was my first ever shoujo and I get you but ig I overdid reading Ao Haru Ride because I'm at this point that I just can't read it again for a good whole year. I used to read it religiously everyday💀 BUT THANK YOU<3
Then I will recommend the first manga I owned! Caramel diary of Megumi Mizusawa, just one volume short and cute ☺️

im afraid i won't like wolf girl coz the last time I read it I was gonna start highschool and I ignored all of the ml's toxic traits, but now idts i can ignore the red flags now T-T but nevertheless thankyou<3

Our Dining Table!
Death is the only ending for a villainess.
It’s a manhwa and a otome game but give it a shot.
sand chronicles! it's a character driven drama (with romance) that starts when the characters are 12 and shows their story as they age through their teen years and into adulthood
it's an insanely good story, it was an instant favorite for me before i could even finish

it doesnt have a manga does it? also I won't really classify code geass as shoujo tbh?
the link I gave is to the manga. it was published in "Asuka" which is a shoujo magazine, which technically makes it a shoujo. there are multiple code geass mangas with different storylines.
i mainly posted it as a meme, i think it has some differences compared to the anime but i haven't actually read it
ohh i seee, i didnt open the link beforehand, my badd ^^
nws its a meme anyway
Lovely Complex for sure!! 🫶
Skip Beat, Glass Mask, Toky Crazy Paradise, Ghost Hunt, Sailor Moon, Fruits Basket, D.N.Angel
and I can't think of any... "Red River" (but it does have spicy scenes, lots, it's an old Shoujo)
