The Dish is rice, canned corn and tuna(actually not that bad) But he added mayonnaise.
Where in the Mediterranean is this consumed?
He’s Moroccan but he added the Mayo 😂
I think it'd be better with the mayo. A sort of binder. Mayo goes in tuna salad, Mayo goes in street corn, sure ain't gonna hurt rice. Looks good to me. I really miss /r/withrice
why would they even remove this subreddit? ugh.
The mayo is standard in the recipe, but it should be a lot more mixed in so that everything is evenly coated with it.
This dish is usually called Mexican salad in Morocco (as is practically everything with corn in it) and yes, it’s a classic struggle/school lunch/camping/I don’t wanna cook meal.
I thought it was butter. Why is it mayo? 😐
It was a little dry I chose soy sauce he chose mayo can’t really give any insight into why
i made this dish at home. this is what i do. make some fresh rice, in a bowl mix mayonnaise, soy sauce, tuna, and some seasoning if you want. very good with seaweed
I too make lazy oni giri.
lol, that is what it is xD
*deconstructed onigiri is what i call it to feel fancy
make some fresh rice, in a bowl mix mayonnaise, soy sauce
Asia wants their soy sauce back
Because we use mayo in rice salads in most of nort africa
I would have thought to do butter or jalapeno cream cheese
More like Nebraskan 😂
technically corn/maize is like, Columbian exchange stuff. This is fusion. Technically American. You can tell by the mayo.
Wow, people are not liking how you dropped historical culinary knowledge on them like that.
Italian Rice Salad with tuna is a common dish. This recipe doesn't have mayo in it but many others do.
Never heard of this dish but that recipe list sounds delicious I bet it tastes great, will definitely have to try making it after reading that.
There's a dish called "Arroz tres delicias' which is basically white rice, carrot, ham and pieces of omelette
It's served in Chinese restaurants
"Arroz tres delicias'
It's served in Chinese restaurants
Wut
Sounds like an egg fried rice dish? With the ham maybe influenced by Canto-Western cuisine? Sounds alright to me.
It's not like egg egg, is omelette cut in tiny square piece
💀
I might be the only one here who thinks that’s not that bad lol
Yeah id eat it..I've had rice with tuna salad lol
Basically a deconstructed tuna mayo rice ball with corn. What’s not to like?
I was gonna comment the same! This sounds good to me.
I've definitely had worse
Did the depression hit the Mediterranean that hard?
Italians have been making incredible food out of mundane cast offs forever. This looks like meal that was inspired by depression, rather than 'the depression'.
"by depression not THE depression" has me rolling. 🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀God that's funny
Worst one yet
Mediterranean has some awesome food. This isn’t it.
Damn straight. I live in Morocco the absolute god tier food I’ve tried here, the bread alone is wonderful. I kinda see this meal like the Mediterranean version of Kraft Mac and cheese it’s all shelf stable and is super easy to cook. Something you can throw together for the kids when your tired.
Ahah I’m from Greece and I just made this today! I saw some Korean noodles where they added mayo and corn, so I was craving it but only had rice at home
Yeah apparently it’s pretty common dish minus the Mayo in Morocco
The worst part is claiming it's Mediterranean
The Rice, Tuna, and corn is a Moroccan like struggle meal lol.
I'm pretty sure I ate something like this on the reg as a poor kid in the 90s. It's bland but it adds a little variety.
There's definitely variations on this dish that they make in Italy. Just Google 'Italian rice and tuna salad'. Corn being the only vegetable does make it pretty bland though.
It is. It's a stripped down rice salad. My in-laws make it.
Swap the mayo for some chili oil and it’s a pretty delicious sounding meal
It’s kinda just tuna salad with rice. Really not bad.
Yeah I’d be happy to eat this lol
What the fuck
I add plain yogurt to my rice but are you sure that your husband isn’t having a pregnancy craving?
"actually not that bad"
Nah man, that's Eastern European depression food
Lmao sub the tuna for sardines and add peas and hot sauce and this is one of my go-to work lunches
When he first showed this recipe to me I said “I could turn that into fried rice little soy sauce, Sarache, eggs. I still ate it with soy sauce instead of Mayo.
You may want r/unclebens lol
Yoo that is super yummy lol but I mix the tuna and mayo first (also a drizzle of balsamic) before I put it over rice
I think I could handle it that way. The corn is unnecessary and makes two starches that don't mix well in my mind.
Corn mayo sushi is a thing in Japan. I've heard it's pretty popular. I never see it stateside. One place I go has it but with tiny shrimps mixed in. Mixing in Tuna isn't too far-fetched.
Funny how certain comfort foods call to us. Good for him. Not for me. 🐟 🌽 🍚
Okay but this is just how I carb up. Corn on rice slaps.
I've made this exact concoction before. I add sriracha and roll it up in a nori sheet. I call it poor man's sushi.
This is an insult to the Mediterranean.
Id eat it, but I wouldn't be proud of it. Why exactly is the mayo the tipping point?
My grandpa used to take rice tuna ground beef and veggies put it all together and put pasta sauce on it and called it Greek salad. Idk how or why it’s Greek but he loved that shit. It wasn’t that bad tbh
As someone who dislikes tuna and mayo I’m terrified of this.
One of my depression meals lol. I used to make large quantities of plain rice and eat it everyday, i was too lazy to cook anything else. I ended up adding random stuff to the rice from time to time, corn with mayo was one of the things I tried and it wasn’t that bad at all.
I'm half Italian and this is hurting my feelings.
there are people from all over the planet that cant cook worth a fuck.
It looks like a type of rice we eat in Mexico lol except we would add cream instead of mayo, and it would also have slices of poblano pepper and onion.
Honestly that sounds really good. I miss Mexican food after I moved to Morocco. They share a lot of ingredients just in a different order. I still haven’t been able to find tomatios, and chillies like Anaheim, poblano ext. and the worst of all limes?? Like lemons, oranges literally growing in the street but god forbid limes lol.
this would be a gourmet meal in denmark
Looks like the entire Mediterranean just sighed 🤷🏼♂️🥴
Where’s the flavor 😭
Why does the rice look cold?
Because it is
I am from a Mediterranean country. I am having difficulty identifying the Mediterranean component of this particular dish. Is the white stuff holding the rice together some sort of melted feta? That's my only guess at this point.
It’s a common dish here in Morocco Rice, corn, tuna my husband decided to add some Mayo with it. He’s Moroccan so I guess do what you will with your own food.
Cream, rice and corn. Seems like Mexican rice. 🤔🧐
But the cream is Kraft mayonnaise 😭
It’s an evil Midwest esquites 😂
Corn: famously Mediterranean
The dish itself (before the Mayo) is a common dish here in Morocco and other people here have said it’s also common in Italy and Greece. It’s like a Kraft box Mac and cheese something easy and simple you throw together with shelf stable ingredients because making a real dinner sounds like to Much work. I guess the Mediterranean part comes from the location the tuna was caught?
Who told him this was Mediterranean
Well he is also Mediterranean the Rice/tuna/corn is a like mildly struggle meal here in Morocco but adding the Mayo is nightmare fuel.
I hate mayo
