Don’t mind me I am just letting out a scream into the void as I prepare to submit more applications to jobs I am qualified for only to be rejected by an automated system. Am happy if you all want to collectively join me in my frustration by adding your screams and rants below. Once more into the breach we go boys!!
Thanks for taking the time to post on Reddit. We here in the Reddit community know there's a lot of competition in the social media space and we are so glad you chose to post this here for all of us to read.
Unfortunately though we sometimes have to make hard choices and today we had to make another one. We found your post compelling but decided to move forward with other Reddit users whose post history more closely matches our vision and goals.
We wish you the best in your future posts and please don't hesitate to post on Reddit again.
I felt this comment deep in my soul and it makes me never want to shitpost again…yet I will continue to shitpost because I want to believe one day someone will upvote me
Never thought I’d ever be this angered by a Reddit comment in my life…do it again
Good lord this needs to be the automod reply for every post in this sub
Don’t give them ideas lol
Lmaoooooo
You are evil, and I’m all here for it!
😂😂😂😂
Lmao, unironically, the last guy who responded to me on this sub, just replace 'post' with 'comment'
Just finished an interview 3 minutes ago, wish me luck.
Good luck my friend, I sincerely hope they see your incredible talent and the wonderful ways you could contribute to their organization!! 🍀🍀🍀
I’ve got one tomorrow! Good, and for the love of God, LUCK!!!
Same! I have an interview tomorrow for a job that should be a slam dunk.
Best of luck to ALL of us!!!
I've also got an interview tomorrow, though it's for an internship. Feeling kinda jittery but excited too
Best of luck! Think I might’ve fucked one up today unfortunately, back to mindlessly applying
I fucked one up last week 🤷
Yep.
Same.
Mindlessly applied to 2 of those today. Yay!!
I Hope your interview goes well!!
All the best
"We regret to inform you.........."
Hahahaha
Shut the fuck up. Just SHUT the FUCK up.
And I was beginning to think interviews were a thing of the past. /s
I have four today. And surprise of all surprises, none are with the actual employers, just fucking recruiters. Get me off of this fucking planet.
It better not be for the job I'm waiting to hear back from!
The fact that you even got an interview. Good job. I hope it works out!
At least you have an interview, I've been submitting resumes for a month and getting automated rejections or no answer AT ALL. I was feeling really good about my experience (I've moved up 3 times in 7 yrs at the same company) but no one has been interested .. at least I'm still working...
I applied for a role last week. Way overqualified... got this response and made me scream...
"....At this time the role is not going to be an ideal match for your experience. We're growing at flash speed, so please keep an eye on our career page for future opportunities. We wish you all the best!"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
OMFG AAAAAAAAAAA is RIGHT!!! It’s their loss my friend, I hope other recruiters are better suited to recognize your excellent qualifications! It sucks SO bad knowing so many of these rejections are just canned BS but I keep putting my applications in because I feel like eventually something has to work out. I hope that something works out soon for you my friend 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
I've been rejected several times now for *being* overqualified, on the assumption that I will leave. One interview was essentially concluded with, "we don't want you to be bored, as we are looking for something long term." This may be the underlying reasoning for your rejection(s) as well, in those cases.
Over a decade ago, I applied for a job at my local McD to earn some side cash in the evening after my day job because I wanted to buy a new laptop. The manager straight up told me to my face that they don’t hire anyone with a college degree or higher because they demand higher pay and keep quitting within a few months, whereas the people with a high school diploma or less would stick around and do more for less pay. Ended up tutoring kids instead and I loved the job while making triple the income, so worked out well but oh man…
I got this one a few weeks ago “We've reviewed what you shared with us and, unfortunately, we did not find a match with what the team is looking for — at the moment! That being said, nobody has a better understanding of your skills and expertise than you do. If you see another role that you're interested in on our Careers Page, feel free to apply down the line and tell us why you think your experience is relevant.”
I’m sure they were going for quirky but it did not land with me. I already wrote a cover letter telling you why I thought my experience was relevant for this role and you didn't even bother doing a phone screen with me. I’m not sure how many times I want to do this with you
Had 5 interviews this month. 4 of them ghosted me and one was an MLM.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Edit: one got back with me yesterday (3-4 weeks later saying they aren't hiring anyone)
HATE HATE HATE HATE THIS!!!! I am so sorry friend, you deserve SO much better!!! At least your curved that MLM BS! Wishing you better days ahead homie
I have a job, but its destroying me. Being AuDHD in high turnover cold call sales is absolute hell. I had to use sick time to go to all of the interviews.
I’m sorry friend. This is equally horrid. I swear this society is just ratchet. Employers abuse the hell out of employees in the name of profits and benefits to the shareholders, recruiters abuse applicants, landlords abuse tenants - meanwhile we are just trying to live our lives without having to suffer 😞 am hoping you find some relief friend 🫂♥️
Yikes! Stuff like this makes me nervous to apply. But I need to leave my job because they just make simple shit complicated.
In an effort to reduce the number of candidates they have to filter through with the use of automated systems, the employment sections of the world have made applying to jobs even more of a numbers game by virtue of requiring candidates to apply to even more jobs as part of their job hunt and thus increasing the overall applications which necessitates more automation.
Everything in perfect balance as per usual.
OMG YES!! It’s one of the most effed up part of the whole BS. It’s not even real rejection, just automated BS.
I applied to a job last week that I was perfectly qualified for and got auto rejected within 30 minutes of submitting the application. I was so upset I emailed their recruiting help email address. I’m sure it was pointless/an unmonitored email box but at least it felt justified…like I’d at least want a person to reject me for a job I am qualified for…for GOD SAKES can someone just LOOK at my resume for 2 minutes!! FFS!
Don’t get me started on the openings that auto delete once they get a specific number of applications. I opened an application and started to work on it and my dog needed to go outside so I took him for a 5 minute walk, came back, finished the application and hit submit and within the span of 15 minutes it said the posting was no longer available…like WTAF!
No doubt many people have to resort to using bots to snag application spots.
They're still going to have the same kind of applicants once we normalize getting optimization AI to write our applications for us, just to avoid the rejection keyword landmines that result in the block.
I won’t lie. The $20 I spent on gpt-4 has been great. I ask it to tailor my resume to this job description in a way that passes the applicant tracking system. It spits it out. Then I say “now make a cover letter for this position” then it does it. Then I just remove the robotic parts real quick Save to pdf and move on. It’s improved my ability to get an interview marginally.
This is great!! Will absolutely follow suit with this approach - work smarter and fight automation with automation 🔥🔥🔥
Yep great idea. Plus your not giving away too much original data. I’ve begun to suspect this whole application interview rejection cycle many of us are experiencing is more to do with training AI recruitment systems and portals. Using our CV and cover letter data to data enrich career portals, and bigger companies may be recording us when interviewing purely to train their chat bots or recruit bots for voice recognition. Then again, my favourite movie is the terminator. But op poster … something is going on.
Imagine applying for jobs @ 2AM, being very qualified and getting rejection email immediately or within the hour.
AAAAAAAAA
"The job application process is very human."
I'm tired of the fact that these corpos have gone mask-off with the disrespect with regards to hiring: full-on lying over the phone, posting fraudulent job ads, offering poverty-wages with a straight face, etc.
Dehumanizing, at best.
I got laid off, have had over 40+ interviews in 4 months and still have yet to get an offer.
AAAAAAAAAJJAJAHSJAIbszvakllal
Am so so sorry friend. Am sincerely hoping you and everyone here finds the right place for their skills and gets treated right. We deserve at least that after all this insane struggle. Am sending you luck for better days ahead and a job soon I hope 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Thanks, I really needed that. I know I’m in a better spot than most so I’m grateful but it’s truly demoralizing to get rejected this often and this much. Also just got my period so might cry from that alone lmao
Wishing you the best in your job search and less automated emails 🙌🏽🙌🏽
The only place I’ve applied to that would give me an offer is a seasonal retail position. 100+ applications in 2 months 🙃
Scrum Master with 8 years experience and certifications and I keep getting told I’m not “the right fit” for literal SM positions.
HahhahahahhahahhahahahhahahaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I feel ya. Most places want a SM who would dual hat as a PM or tester or PO. Sure, two jobs, two salaries, right? Cheap AHs
Lol fr. It’s so irritating bc I’ll be like “look at my UAT experience & cert :)” or “yeah I started as a PM :)” and they’re like “yeah no ty next.” I’m like I CAN LITERALLY DO THE THING
50+ jobs applied to this year to be met only With no responses, MLM occupations, and now almost about to live in my car with my dog just to have a sense of peace. Can’t even afford to scream at this point.
That’s a nightmare, I’m so so sorry friend. I hate this effing system and all the suffering it causes. Wish I had a something better to give you but here is a virtual hug in case it helps at all 🫂♥️
I really do appreciate the virtual hug. This has taken a toll on my mental health but I’m trying to maintain positivity. No person should have to be reduced to nothing as they’re trying.
I feel this. I had an interview on Friday that lasted about an hour (was only suppose to be 20 minutes but it was going really well IMO) got told today that I would have a second interview and then a decision would be made and I was excited for it since it would be WFH and then got a text this morning saying they put a freeze on the position and are not hiring anymore.
OMG a super similar thing happened to me, it’s so demoralizing after the progress you make and the hope that it gives. Sorry you went through that too. Sending you luck and hopes that you find a great place worthy of your skills 🙌🏼
I feel this on so many levels. Was laid off in May. Have had multiple interviews where I’ve made it to the final round and then rejected. It’s so demoralizing and frustrating. Just had an interview last week, 3rd and final round. Was told I’d get an update end of the week. And nope. Nada. Do I reach out?! Or just wait. I don’t know anymore.
Wow, did I write this? I’m in the exact same boat. This thread is so validating, I have to say.
Had a phone screening this morning for a position that goes down a different lane of marketing I haven’t had much experience in yet. I was honest when she asked if I had done xyz before, saying “no but I’d love to learn blah blah blah”. She LAUGHED at my answer. Like “ahaha, okay!”…
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I got rejected from a general entry level internship made to fill multiple roles. I asked why and they said they wanted people with more industry experience. I have 3 years of consistent full time experience before I went back to get my masters…
I've even used the buzz words in job descriptions and altered my resume to it make sure my resume would pass the ATS and still got rejected. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Just accepted a job after being unemployed for awhile. I applied to 100+ places and it feels good to finally laugh at the dozens of automated rejection emails Im still getting — the only jobs I’ve really gotten were never from cold applying. Find companies you like, hunt down some random HR people on LinkedIn to message, or find direct emails to send your interest and resume to before even applying. As i’m sure you know, the system is broken — don’t let the automated resume scanners win! You got this!
Congratulations and thank you so much!! Your message means so much to me and it gives me hope to see good things happen to someone who is in the same situation 🥹 so happy for you and know all of us will get there some day ♥️
I don't know which is worse, the auto rejects or the recruiters that don't bother to read my resume before we have a talk.
So my sister is a recruiter for a large company in our area and says that it’s “fourth-quarter hiring freeze time” due to the end of the economic year. It’s not that the positions won’t be filled but because it’s the end of the end of the year everybody hits the pause button until January. So keep your chin up, keep applying because the dam will burst open in January/Q1…much love to you all, including my poor spouse who is in the middle of his job search too.
It bums me out that the automation of applying to jobs (which should have been a good thing!) has led to so many job applications per job that no human has the time to review them, so the rejections will inevitably be automated too, and automation just takes all personalization out of every part of the process short of knowing someone who works at a company and them vouching for you. I think nepotism hires will be/have been the main benefactor of it all.
I had the most infuriating experience. The human resources director was going to extend me an offer then got fired. Oh joy, now I get to deal with the next human offering me 20 an hour with 17 years of experience and 3 degrees.
I’m so desperate for a new job that I might actually take a shitty MLM job if it pays enough.
Are you okay with selling toothpaste to your friends?
Every time I see a post like this it enhances my fear of getting laid off
Is it just me, or are things getting worse because of the upcoming holidays? I've been applying and getting ghosted after interviews. I also tried for an entry level customer service position at a company I work part time at, and they gave me a start date in January. I've been screaming internally since then, but yes. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Totally not just you. I was also told, after having several interviews, that the company I was speaking to could not hire me at the moment due to a hiring freeze and another poster ITT said a similar thing also happened to them.
Ive heard different things about this - some have said it’s due to the way budgets are broken out (with less hiring and promotions done in Q4) to issues with funding due to the government shutdown in the US.
I’m not sure what the real answer is, but you are definitely right that there is some external factors making everything harder/worse at the moment.
That makes some sense. It seems like the worst time to look for jobs, but I'm hopeful of the future. I hope things get better for us soon!
After 3 months I finally started getting interviews as of 2 weeks ago. Nothings panned out but I have a cool one that might work out with rockefeller center that im excited about. It was a recruiter and I missed their call today but I'm hoping when I call them tomorrow things work out. If not it's back to the grind so here's hoping the recruiter doesn't fuck me
I had my second stage interview with a job I actually want today. This is after hundreds of applications since May. It went great. Which means my job hunt ptsd is kicking in and makes me second guess everything even though I know I rocked it. I have a panel next. If that goes well, that’s it. No assignments. I already negotiated the pay and know what the benefits are and it’s 100% remote. Here’s hoping. I’m at the point that if this doesn’t come through I’m done looking for a while.
The whole job hunt has been a miserable experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I’m hoping this is my light at the end of what’s been a dark dark tunnel. I want the best for each and every one of you in this collective AAAAAAAAA!
Am sending you all the good vibes, plus luck, plus anything else that it takes so you can get good news back my friend!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 thank you so much for the kind words also - having this space to share a collective, cathartic, chaotic scream and all the frustrations helped so much. It’s nice to not be alone 🫂 I hate that we are all struggling but at least we have this space and each other when things get tough. I’m grateful for you and everyone here, sincerely
1000x ⬆️💘☘️🤞🏻💫
This has been my story for the last 6 weeks or so:
- Find and apply for what looks like a great role and fit for me
- Pass the screening call, get an interview
- Interview goes extremely well, everyone happy, it all looks promising
- 2nd interview runs long because it's going so well. They tell me they plan to make a decision in the next week, that it's between me and one other candidate
- The next week I get a rejection--from a human in HR, at least, but still.
- A day or two (or more) later, a recruiter calls me, ABOUT THE SAME JOB...I tell them what happened, and they tell me they heard the offer "fell through" and the job is open again.
- 2 weeks later I am still getting recruiters from various agencies approaching me about the same job...and I see said job posted everywhere. WTF
This scenario has happened to me TWICE now, for 2 positions.
Then there was the 2nd interview for a job which I totally fucked up, and was told within 90 minutes following that I was not selected...it was on a Friday, and the following Monday had another recruiter contact me about it. *bangs head on table*
This is literally my EXACT experience. I got so sick of it last week I bit the bullet and contacted the hiring person directly saying the job was reposted and is there opportunity for me there? She gave some excuse that they wanted to hire someone local. That was pathetic of me but I had to know. That was the third time in a few months I had this same experience. What are these companies doing???
I got rejected twice for a single application... Damn I heard you the first time! We're unlocking levels. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
OMG that is SO frustrating!! Am so sorry and thanks for letting out a scream with me, we are SO unlocking new levels with the insanity that is happening but at least we have each other 🫂 good luck and I hope you find the place that sees how incredible you are ♥️🍀
The same thing just happened to me too 😩
Felt.
Waiting for an initial screen call right now where they emailed me to choose a time and date in their calendar, I did so, and received an email confirmation with 3 completely different times in it! The time I actually chose and that was in the email subject passed 2 hours ago. I have 15 minutes until the time in the first part of the calendar they sent. The third is 9PM tonight, and lord I hope they don't call me then!
Oh man that sucks!! A similar think happened to me recently and it is SUPER stressful because you are waiting and communicating with the recruiter and don’t know anything until they decide to respond, ugh!
Am sending you good vibes and all the luck that things go well - you are going to knock it out of the ballpark, if and when they show! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Recently graduated my undergrad and am now enrolled in my graduate school. Everyone else in my class has some form of experience related to the field and all I have are 300 hours from an unpaid internship where I was doing work well above my expertise.
Recent newlywed and I tried to find a job in my field after I moved in with my husband. No where wanted to hire me even though a lot of it I met the criteria and the internship hours for. Had to settle for a cashier/waitress gig at a local small owned restaurant because even retail stores didn’t want me.
On behalf of all college students who’ve graduated Spring of 23 and still can’t find employment in their field of study: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHH!
🫡 Technically not class of ‘23 but rather class of ‘21, got my license as a lawyer this year and here I am back in school because I can’t find a job. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
You’re a trooper for sure 😭
So are you! You got this 🙌🏻
I hope so, impostor syndrome has been settling in since before I graduated undergrad 😓😥
I feel you! But don’t lose hope 🫶🏻
Thank you, I wish you luck in your endeavors!
Best of luck to you as well internet stranger! ❤️
Last interview I went to I came in with 4x the years of experience requested and was treated like I knew nothing. They then offered lower than entry level pay, after the posting stated a different wage altogether 😂.I had more experience then the company had years existing.
Applied for a media buyer position at a food distribution company and they had the audacity to send a minimum wage entry level job as apart of their rejection email. I’m mid career and am not interested in climbing no corporate ladder. Was a huge slap in the face. Had the experience and everything they wanted too. The company is now on my black out list.
I applied to a job in August, haven’t heard anything since . I check to see the status of application for it to of not been reviewed yet
I feel you OP!!
I Have been applying since mid September. My stats are:
-applied: 150+
-interviewed: 3
-offered: 0
Life is f***in glorious
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Don’t mind me I am just letting out a scream into the void
LMAO bro, I got a desktop notification for your AA... while I was focusing on something and I couldn't resist clicking. I feel like you screamed into my room.
Here, let me harmonize with you.... AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Bro same, I want to scream I've been hunting for 3 months.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I remember you were conflicted
Let me scream with you: AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Such a relatable response.
AI is already tooling our world!!!!
This website is your friend:
Definitely in the scream into the void phase here, and feel you 1000%, OP.
I applied to a lot over the weekend in hopes of getting calls or interviews today, on Monday, but nope not one. I'm waiting to hear back from one I really want because I don't want to do this anymore.. can someone hire me please, I can't answer the same questions over and over and be told there are so many more interviews and applications they need to go through. Thanks a lot FRANK..
felt this
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA&B&C as well!!!! I feel your utter frustration! I estimate that I have submitted close to 150 applications, received a maybe 3 zoom interviews, always ghosted or the notorios “thanks for your time; however, we have decided to move in a different direction”
How do we bypass the automated system ? What new words can i write about a customer service experience that has not been written before ? I just dnt understand.
I can’t get an interview to save my freaking life, all I have gotten in the last three months of job hunting is automated “We regret to inform you…” and “we appreciate your time in applying to this position but…” emails to jobs that I am extremely qualified for.
If I may join you in your frustration…
AAAARRRRRRRGHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Thanks for the post. This is the best recommendation notification I have ever get in many years of using social media.
When I looked for a job, I grabbed the listing of said job from 30-50 job postings. Copied and pasted all the words into one word document. Then used a word cloud to see which words were used the most. I made sure to use the words repeated the most in my resume. I used the exact word from the word cloud. Then added a few more word that were a variation of the word. I listed the top words. I did not list the words that only repeated 5 times or less.
Yall mind if I scream?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Right there with you. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I'm doing 3 interviews today and will probably hire all of them... Are you all Commercial Roofing Project Managers by any chance?!?!?!
You are an amazing human being, and thank you for hiring those people and saving them from this never ending application nightmare hellscape. Unfortunately, I am not a Commercial Roofing Project Manager but I hope any people in this thread who are, see your post!!
That's kind of you but it was meant more as a joke - I understand the majority on here is some shade of IT or engineering. The best I can hope for on reddit is to make some people aware that there are fields outside of tech where even just basic software skills are in super high demand. IE I'm seeing people with certifications in a simple construction estimating platform starting at $80k/yr and working up to as high as $250k/yr. That's in ANY cost of living area, low or high.
Oh hahaha woosh!! Sorry I missed it 😝 yes I am cybersecurity. I’m also looking outside of my field at technical writing and creative endeavors. Unfortunately I can’t handle a physical job due to my disability and require remote work because I am a military spouse and we move pretty regularly. It sucks to have these requirements because it limits my job options.
Interesting you would say that because many software driven construction roles have gone fully remote. These platforms are all cloud based and many of the people using them never set foot on a construction site. Estimators for example, depending on the type of construction, often get their info from digital construction documents and/or satellite imagery. We just placed one who started Monday and is doing that very thing from his home out of state.
The Estimating Edge - Bluebeam - Revit - Procore - Xactimate ---- are just a few of the software platforms people use remotely for our industry.
Oh that’s amazing! Will check these out today and look into adding any certifications/training to my resume as well as looking at open jobs in this sector using those platform. Thank you so much!
No problem! Let me know if you need any help to understand what you're looking at re: the job postings.
Although I'm not a Commercial Roofing Project Manager, my experience is in Media Project Management. I'd love to make the jump to a different industry. I'm 350 in with 2 interviews. Sigh...I'm trying to switch industries and my experience is working against me. Truth is PM work is PM work no matter the industry. Still I try.
I'm not sure what industries you're generally referring to where PM work is PM work, but I assure you there is a massive bridge between construction PM work and PM work outside the built environment.
I get resumes all the time from outside PMs and I can't ever do anything with them. Depending on the job description it often requires extremely technical construction means/methods knowledge and or sales (sales which require extremely technical means/methods knowledge). Construction professionals work up to a position like that over many years... On the other hand, certain construction trades often title their sales reps "Project Managers" which consists of doing home based sales and maybe transporting materials and holding homeowners hands through the construction process. As sucky as that job is, it could be an entry point if you happen to be super enthusiastic about becoming a real construction project manager.... Honestly there are other jobs in construction that are eager to bring in tech advanced people for different types of roles and I'd be happy to give some examples if you like.
Thank you if you know of anything I'd be grateful. My background is in Media/Marketing Project Management. I think the bridge is too far for tech, but I'd take any advice right now. I appreciate it.
I'm always happy to advise someone but keep in mind I'm only a hiring authority in an extremely specific field. Based on limited info about you (and what I know about how strong hiring is going in my industry) I'd recommend looking into some of the many marketing/lead service companies and conglomerates specifically for the construction industry. These companies generally provide platforms for contractors to market their services, build company profiles, and receive leads for upcoming projects to pursue. It's construction, but they are the firms that drive the entire marketing/advertising side of the industry.
I've worked for or consulted for most of these companies and know they are extremely legit marketing firms. There have been a number of consolidations and I can't keep track of who owns who at this moment. There are a ton more companies that do something similar but these are the serious ones that have been around for 100+ years in some cases...

Thank you so much for this response. I appreciate very much. Thank you.
No problem. If I don't use what I do to help when possible than I deserve to be blasted on this god forsaken subreddit lol
This is a certain level of hell on this subreddit, that's for sure. But kind people light the way out.
Thank you,
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Always struggled with writing in depth (I mainly get straight to the point and then add onto it if i think of anything more like pros or cons (and discuss)). Got low marks everywhere due to it and now been rejected from a job that I was really looking forward to, because I "didn't write enough" yet the job is entry level and my internet connection is shite.
I appreciate them for calling me and providing me feedback but why ask me so many fucking questions to build my hope up and then destroy it all with "I'm sorry but you didn't write enough and other wrote more in the questionnaire".
back to the drawing board. Kill me now.
I have a job now, but back when I was hunting for one, a recruiter who had helped me in the past contacted me to ask if I was interested in a job with the company he represented.
We talked, and he told me he'd let me know "next week". Every week he had some bs excuse why I had to wait another week. The team leaders were in holiday, he had to go out of town, he was waiting for someone to reply, etc... I tried to call him for updates, no response. I emailed him asking for a status update, no response. Weeks turned to months, and I got a job elsewhere.
This started in december, and he ghosted me around february.
He messaged me in like, april to ask if I was still interested in a job. I told him in no uncertain terms that I was not interested in having anything to do with him and why.
I would, but another Redditor on this sub told me I'm not allowed to talk about my own experiences on a post I didn't create
However I will say AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA anyways, in order to collectively support your frustration
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ENT /RANT
I just went through the most soul-destroying interview. EVER. 2nd Round Interview. Process started in Oct. Job hires for January..so a long process but an excellent job. Nonprofit company. Three-person panel.
Start the call. Dead Silence. The lead interviewer did not look up, smile, or engage back. Grudgingly asked me questions. When I replied, there would be an obvious long lag before other questions would come my way. Showed ZERO interest in my reply and zip follow-up. It was not a conversation at all. Finally, one of the other panel people took pity and started engaging with the odd nod or a murmured thank you. I had a series of questions prepped after, and when I asked my first one. (aka does the company have a plan to source other blah blah) The rude interviewer replied with this gem.
"You've probably NEVER heard of this, but we are going to use this source" It was an INDUSTRY SOURCE; obviously, I had heard and worked with it. Just nasty, nasty. Lots of long silences, no engagement or interest, and I was sitting there, thinking did I peee in this woman's cornflakes? Did someone? I wanted the gig. I prepped plans, researched, checked out their market issue's pros/cons, and extrapolated basic responses. Honestly, I would have done a fantastic job for them, and the entire interview was just an awful experience. Ugh, but my thinking was that two other people have a say, and I can work with a sourpuss if I have to. But it was a terrible time, I felt like it was a waste; no one was making any responses or small chit or smiling or engaging. All 3 of them were stone-faced and cold until that 1 lady took pity on me. I should have ended the interview, but you see it through being professional ugh, ugh.
It was terrible. but at the end, when I received an email stating that they would get back to me within 3 days if I advanced to the next round. On day 1 I was like, what a waste. On day 2 I was like..well maybe..and stupid hope reared its head. Midway on Day 3..."We appreciate your interest but" WTF...they knew and I knew 3 days ago. I'm so frustrated and the insult was rubbed in. Like I know they'd be $hitty company but I'm angry at myself I didn't end the interview immediately when they started being so disrespectful and I'm angry that I was hopeful.
I thanked them for their response but I burn to email them back. Tempted to ask for "feedback" but its a dead alley and I need to move on. Still here I am, hard worker, solid resume, decent person, dogs and small kids don't run from me and to be treated so unprofessionally was shocking. I thought I'd VENT here so I don't email them, people like this, it's not worth the time, but as I move through this field ( I work with non profits and Investors managing projects) you BETTER BELIEVE I will remember them and how they treat people).
You’ve got this.
You’re only going to get the reward of the job you want and deserve if you put your head down and muscle through the ugliness of this time.
Have faith. Better times are coming for you. BELIEVE!!
Thank you so much kind stranger, that really means a lot, it feels so hopeless some days. 🫂♥️
I live in a small college town in Illinois, have no vehicle, ad my physical disabilities prevent working in fast food/retail/anything else ivolving a lot of standing. I have to apply for remote call center jobs. Most don't bother to tell you they're only hiring for specific states.
In the past thirty days, I've had 10 rejections, six scams, 1 that wanted me to drive an hour one way to pick up equipment since they're too cheap to mail it, 1 Indian recruiter calling about jobs in a state I no longer live in, and about 20 more that never even responded yet if at all.
It's like even the shittiest shitty call centers won't even talk to me :(
Consider me a plus 1

This was my grievance. Posted before i saw your post https://www.reddit.com/r/recruitinghell/s/C2ZJtbK6oS
I’m so sorry you were treated like that and that you also feel badly friend. It’s not you at all in fact this sub has helped me immensely because I see others stories and I realize, it’s not us at all. We are attempting to our game a horribly broken system.
All we can do is to not give up and that is hard as hell to do in the face of so much rejection. It’s a skill in itself to be as resilient as we have to be every effing day just to get up and do this over, and over, and over. I sincerely hope you find a place that sees you the way we see you, as a no shit hard core warrior that won’t give up in the face of this bullshit.
I am also looking for remote work because I am a military spouse and if I get something locally I will have to quit when we have to move when we get assigned to a new base and it is hard as hell to get anything. One day I hope this whole god forsaken system disappears but until it does I will get my ass up and fight it until something works out and I hope you do to my friend - stay strong, I know someone will see you. 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Use quinncia to avoid automatic rejection bc of resume formatting
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
breathes in
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
(imagine that screaming cowboy dude in that one song or something).
If only I can find jobs I'm actually qualified for when my industry is cratering, lay offs left and right and extremely gatekeepey to those trying to break in.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Huhuhuhuhu!!
