Daily Community Tiering Post Day 46: You, Me and Du-Pri(marina). It's Primarina!Daily Tiering/Voting Posts

Hello again everybody!

Before we get started on today's post the current voting for Incineroar is currently in a dead lock between votes for A tier and B tier. If you haven't voted on that post yet there is still time and you can find a link to it through the link below by scrolling through the comments or by sorting the Sub by "Daily Tiering/Voting Posts"! Meanwhile, the previous day's vote for Chesnaught did officially end with votes for B tier in the lead, so I've included the Weighted Average of the Chesnaught vote in the tier list below!

(Please note that this voting/tiering is centered around Classic as after a certain point in Endless only about 5 Pokemon and 2 abilities are truly viable.)

So current tiers are:

S tier - Garganacl (4.37), Cloyster (4.01), Skeledirge (4.48), Gholdengo (4.49), Tinkaton (4.64)

A tier - Gyarados/Mega (4.19), Venusaur/Mega/Dyna (3.80), Aegislash (4.06), Corviknight/Dyna (3.91), Excadrill (4.32), Gardevoir/Mega (3.99), Toxapex (3.50), Scizor/Mega (3.94), Gengar/Mega/Dyna (3.90), Delphox (3.62), Blastoise/Mega/Dyna (3.51), Blaziken/Mega (3.76), Swampert/Mega (3.76), Empoleon (3.57)

B tier - Kanto-Persian/Dynamax Kanto-Meowth (3.25), Weavile (3.23), Starmie (2.92), Rhyperior (2.88), Quagsire (2.91), Mamoswine (3.25), Whimsicott (3.36), Aggron/Mega (3.48), Infernape (3.48), Alolan-Decidueye (2.89), Johto-Typhlosion (3.06), Torterra (3.03), Serperior (3.60), Unovan-Samurott (3.04), Chesnaught (2.74)

C tier - Linoone (2.97), Meganium (2.09), Emboar (2.39)

F tier - Dustox (1.47)

With that being said let's get to today's vote!

Today is day 46 of tier voting and we are on to the last of the Gen 7 starters! Soon enough we will be back to our regular voting from specific suggestions! Primarina is the only starter to ever receive the Fairy type, and one of only 4 Water/Fairy type Pokemon in existence! Primarina has a pretty solid stat spread, with good Special Defense and very good Special Attack at the tradeoff of a pretty rough Speed stat and a little lacking on the Physical Defense side. Its Hidden Ability is also a signature ability as its the only Pokemon to have it. Liquid Voice turns all the Pokemon's Sound-based moves into Water-type moves and therefore gives it STAB on those moves, which works well for Primarina with its natural moveset as well as its Egg moves. Fairy typing is also really good for the final Rival fight and pretty good for the final boss fight, although it is weak to Poison. PokeRogue also gave Primarina a huge buff through its Passive Ability, Punk Rock, which further boosts the power of all the Pokemon's Sound-based moves. Primarina also has a strong level-up moveset meaning it doesn't need TMs, although it can get some added coverage and utility from its TM capability, it certainly doesn't need it in most scenarios.

(Also here is the post with rules for voting/tiering posts and a little more explanation about them in general: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokerogue/s/0LNZhPPzR9 Links to past votes can all be found here as well in comments added to the OP with each new vote)

And here is a quick reminder of what each tier generally means:

S tier: Top tier, can make or break your entire run, essentially the cream of the crop

A tier: really strong but not quite top tier, maybe slightly outclassed or has a slight weakness holding it back

B tier: solid choices that can make it to your endgame team, might be reliant on team composition to truly function well or might just be outclassed as well

C tier: usually early-mid game Mons, ones you don't really want to take to end game if you can avoid it, usually pretty decently glaring weakness but something redeeming enough to keep from F tier

F tier: no reason to use in end game unless you're doing it for a meme/joke

Abstain/No Opinion: this will be a voting option mostly just for Pokemon people haven't unlocked/used to their full potential yet. If Abstaining votes outvote each individual tier then the Pokemon will be tabled for the time being and another vote will open up for it later (can mostly see this happening with Legendaries).

How Do I tell my girlfriend I’m not cheating, I’m just hopelessly addicted to PokeRogueQuestion

Me and My girlfriend had a heated argument last night after she confronted me about what she considered “fishy behavior” and suspects I’m cheating, which has upset me because I pride myself on not being a cheater, in both relationships and Nuzlockes.

It started when she noticed I put her on do not disturb late one night when I told her I was asleep, but really I was fighting E-max Eternatus and really had to dial in since I didn’t have any fairy types on my team (rookie mistake I know)

Then She noticed I was on Snapchat at 4 A.M. one night after I told her I was asleep and figured I was snapping another girl, but really I was showing my buddy Bobby Pickles that I finally got Max IVs on my Beedrill.

Then the other day when I was leaving her house she saw me check my phone and smile immediately after getting in my car and again assumed adultery but really the gacha had just changed and I went to check and was smiling cause Zacian was on the legendary gacha and Zacian is dope.

It all culminated yesterday when I wouldn’t let her see what I was doing on my phone cause I was playing PR, and she flipped out on me.

I haven’t told her cause she doesn’t like when I play Pokemon ever since she was watching me play infinite fusion and noticed I had nicknamed my lopunny/gardevior fusion after my ex. (I’m not still into my ex or anything cause she’s pretty gross, but when we were dating I named my Lopunny after her in a platinum Cagelocke and the mon ended up clutching up against Flints infernape, so I still do it every run for good luck). I explained this to my girlfriend at the time but she didn’t care, and when I fused the lopunny with a snorlax and showed her to make her feel better she just got more angry and made me switch to Tem Tem for a year.

I’m really hurt and torn over this and I don’t know how to fix things. I obviously don’t want to lose my girlfriend but I don’t want to tell her truth because I’m afraid she will make me switch to Tem Tem again and Tem Tem is the actual worst.

If anyone has had a similar problem I would really appreciate some advice as I’m really messed up about this and I don’t think I’ll be able to get my endless run off the ground with all this terrible stress going on in my life.

QoL Request: Item transfer upon replacing PokemonSuggestion

It's happened one too many times that I've found a Pokemon that I'd like to catch and include in my team, but that would mean deleting all the items the old Pokemon had on them. The most egregious one I'm facing is replacing my Gholdengo with a shiny Golem, which would mean getting rid of 3 Grip Claws, 3 Golden Punches, 2 Focus Bands, 1 Multi-Hit Lens, 1 Quick Claw, 1 Shell Bell, and 4 Black Belts. For context, it's a max-luck shiny team, with Gholdengo being the only non-shiny.

TL;DR: Is it possible for old Pokemon to just transfer all their held items to the Pokemon replacing them?

Tokens ARE DUMBDiscussion

Alright unpopular opinion but tokens have gotta be one of the most artificial ways of making late game endless difficult. They make it all completely luck based and such a chore to go through. This won't matter if endless wasn't the only efficient way to farm shinies, hidden abilities, and egg vouchers.

Endure token literally makes your earned kills irrelevant causing your carry to die so your entire team gets wiped. Recovery tokens just get rid of an entire mechanic of the game. You can't use any status anymore without them dissapearing on the same turn you put them on the opposing pokémon. This makes several pokémon very hard to use and now legendaries are just that much harder to catch. A simple solution is just making them only cure freeze and sleep. The other statuses did NOTHING wrong.

These tokens are so poorly designed and such a horrible way to make the game even more difficult. Just add a protect token that adds a 99% chance the opposing pokémon protects but it can still move this turn if you want the enemy pokémon to survive that bad. Just turn any status move which is on the players team into self destruct after the enemies get a couple of recovery tokens if you hate statuses that much.

Sorry if this all seems a little "immature" on my part. I still really love this game (not endless mode though) and i still really enjoy it (not endless mode though). I really hope tokens will be REMOVED once endless gets reworked because these things make me want to turn my phone into a fine powder. Thank you for reading my rant.

My personal thoughts on the endless change(crossposted from the discord)Discussion

I would like to give my personal thoughts on the berry update. This text blob is specifically on endless mode, as I think that this is a reasonable change for classic.

Berry pouch nerf: Good overall. I think that basically having a 100% chance to not use up berries was super strong and def a good idea to nerf it to 90% for gameplay reasons.

Berry total nerf(specfically the lum, sitrus and enigma berry nerfs): Horrible. Especially in conjunction with the current state of endless. The fact that we only get 2 lum berries per battle in the later(or even early mid) stages of endless is horrible. Considering the fact that very few strats are viable and the fairly common metal burst/counter coat mons have to take a hit before attacking, and the existence of sleep/freeze tokens, it is almost trivial for a bit of bad luck to instantly kill a run. The fact that sitrus/enigma berries are nerfed falls under the same category is part of a similar point, as it becomes much riskier to heal back up after repeated non attack turns due to freeze(or even worse, sleep). I feel like in order for this change to be reasonable it would require a complete rework(or removal) of all the status tokens, or even just the sleep/freeze ones. Otherwise, I think that the berry reduction should be reverted, and we should be able to have 10 of each berry again.

I would just like to clarify that I'm not a super experienced endless player, and while I do have a semi longish endless run going due to wanting to farm shinies, that's the only real reason why I play endless in it's current state. If any more experienced endless players wish to correct something I've said please feel free!

As a side note, in what order do the tokens check for status conditions? I am unsure but in my experience I get slept or frozen way more than I get burned or paralysed(poison is irrelevant for me because I use a steel type)

EDIT: To give an example of why I think this is a bad change, let me showcase a reasonably possible endless turn. Pictured below is my main endless breaker, a mega aggron/garganacl fusion. The main idea of this fusion is to use metal burst to reflect damage back onto attackers in order to bypass the whole "I'm going to have a bunch of protection and endure tokens lmao" thing. While this is not the only strategy that is used in endless, it is a fairly common one (more experienced endless players can say exactly how common but in my personal experience I've seen a lot of endless runners use a similar strat). Salt cure is for the percent damage part. Protect is used to proc lefties for the next turn. Recover exists. Thought I would need it, don't have a better move to replace it. The main problem with this strategy(aside from multi hit/mold breaker) is status. Due to mega aggronacl having to move AFTER my opponent, I am vulnerable to being hit with status conditions such as burn, sleep, freeze and paralysis (not poison, steel type pokemon babyyyy). With the previous endless (effectively infinite berries, capped at 10) this was no issue. I could just tank a hit, hope I metal burst back, if I don't (either due to sleep, freeze without unthaw, or para without hit) then I just protect, wait for my sturdy to come back online, then try again. Rinse and repeat. A boring strategy but any endless strat is rinse and repeat with the current state of the gamemode. This strategy is now no longer reasonable to pull off. Any unlucky status pull (a bunch of times where I can't attack, see conditions above) can instantly ruin my run if mega Aggronacl doesn't proc berry pouch. This is not acceptable. Any of the changes made individually would have been fine (berry pouch nerf means that this strat is more vulnerable to RNG but does give leeway as you still have 10 lum/sitrus/enigma berries, while the berry cap nerf is more or less effective berry count as previously due to pouch being 99% proc chance) but both at once completely ruins this strategy.

the Devs are absolutely amazing and we should let them know how much we appreciate them! Discussion

all the hard work they’ve been doing since the game started, constantly working on the servers and making the game better for us. just the quality of life updates have been so amazing. I love that you get egg tickets if you beat classic with a Pokémon you’ve never won with before, also love that they add a little medal to your Pokémon in the selection screen if you beat classic with them. the berry update is nice too, just another example of how much they care about this game and want it to be fun and balanced. this is just a huge shoutout to all the Devs we love and appreciate y’all !
