That's one happy looking little Pibbin š
lovely bird.
quite!
pibbin looks so proud!
And this pidge approves!
They like scratching their nails, isnāt it?
Practical question: Iām interested in having this kind of set up. How do you clean the pigeon poop on the ground? Do you spray it down once in a while or?
i put it in the yard and when the ground gets worn down enough, the lawn mower is hooked to it and the coop is dragged over to a fresh patch of grass, but on the top part I use hemp shavings
Ohh interesting. Thanks! Do the birds eat the grass at all?
not really they like to pick through it
u/ps144-1Ā has a large aviaryĀ and may have adviceĀ
If its natural ground like mine its the best thing you can give them! Grass area is grass. Dirt area wood pellets, thats the nesting area which is covered and somewhat enclosed though even that has ventilated sides, that is the smallest area about 150 sqft or so, about 1/6 of aviary... But on ground in there the wood pellets over time and/or rain become sawdust, we do deep litter method, turn lightly rake ground, all droppings compost with it. Its so healthy its incredible for them. We add herbs and DE sometimes, borax sometimes, and regularly remove sawdust/dropping mix, add it to compost heap. You cant even distinguish droppings from wood, bedding etc bc it works so well together. Only problem is they like it so much they all want ground nests despite being empty boxes.
We add lots of rosemary,, spearmint, peppermint, rose petals, great herbs to ground and boxes. We add more wood pellets regularly. This is a very good way to keep birds healthy.
The rest of ground is brick and its getting removed when I can do do more grass and deep litter wood pellet.
The cleaning and scraping is nest boxes, perches, surfaces, and brick areas I spray with hose and mist with chlorhex.
Natural, is best. The more natural the better.
All bottom is metal mesh.hardware cloth about 4 inches under ground, same material as sides and roof.
He or she looks literally so happy lmao
So happy with their cement shard hoard ā¤ā¤ so sooo cute.
OAT!? I stop watching oat grow on this sub for a month or two and they grow into this magnificent pidge?! I didn't recognise them at first, wow!
I'm so proud of them. Well done oat! <3
he's still not the biggest but don't worry he's got an ego twice his size!
Ohh, how cute! What breed?
Valencian Figurita. Minus the poof. Oat decided to be different and did not inherit that feature but if you go on my previous posts I shared pictures of the others
pigeons yearn for the streets so I chiseled off some pieces of the road for this mix
