I’d love to get into Overlanding and possibly do a big trip across the country, I am in search of some things for my Toyota Tacoma if anyone is trying to sell anything. I’m located in New Jersey but will travel for the right product(s) Thanks
Thank you for the suggestion! I have basic camping supplies, a bed rack with a roof top tent, General Grapper ATX’s everything else is stock. I plan on being on the road for around 3 months, going from NJ the northern route to Washington, Washington to California, then California to Utah, down to New Mexico/Texas then back to NJ. I’d love to build an alternative power supply other than my Jackery, something that can charge on my trucks battery when i’m mobile and that can power my refrigerator full time when i’m not. Have you built anything similar? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Yes I’ve installed/built out several aux battery systems; lithium battery with redarc bcdc and solar panel. Renogy is another name for dc to dc/ Solar charge controller
Thank you. I will look into redarc a little more now. Was one of the sites I came across prior to posting on here
Check out Renogy too. I was a Redarc fanboi bc quality, but Renogy is catching up at a great price point. Their latest DC/DC charger (makes adding lithium dual battery setup plug n play) along with a sun fun kit lithium iron build and just about any generic solar panel will keep your fridge going indefinitely for years!
Thank you!! I think Renogy may bey best option
For sure!! Also. Lol @ ur pic!! ag or cheater? Either way, looks like I’ll be making a trip to collie station mañana with that grand salami last inning. 🤘🏻🙌🏻😜
First person to admire my pic HAHA I love it
Seriously put the money towards fuel. I bought a ton of shit I thought I’d need and ended up selling a lot of it. You probably don’t need anything outside a decent ground tent and a way to store/prepare food. Go out, see what you need/want, and go from there.
Thank you. I‘m going to go put with my gear this weekend see how it goes
Do u think I should get a KDMax Pro tubing done before my trip? I heard it can better MPG
That’s up to you. When I’m out in the wilderness I’ve learned to keep everything as stock as possible. I don’t have a lift or any performance mods on my truck.
Gotcha! I bought my truck used and it has 4 different tired on it. Two of which are horrific the other two not bad. My only reason for upgrading those. Regarding the tuning, my only thought about doing that was to help with MPG as well as for shifting gears. This truck does not drive like my last(Lariat) whatsoever and seems to have s tremendous amount of trouble shifting gears.
OK4WD is in NJ and has everything you need.
I will check them out on my next day off. Thank you
Just get out there and find out what you need! You’ll know after a few weekend trips! Cheaper that way too
