That’s some Moons over My Hammy.
“Yes ma’am, 20 moons”
That's no moon...
I thought that was your bill at first. That would’ve been impressive.
It was the service charge that got added to his tab.
mandatory service tab
So fucking tired of this out of control tipping system.
Wouldn’t be a thing if mfs would pay they servers but how could you possibly measure how much to pay someone who has to “serve diners” for 8 hrs lol and dennys isn’t exactly ideal customers if u ask me 😂😂
We already pay servers here. Oregon does not have a sub-minimum tipped wage, so serving jobs are on the exact same footing as everyone else.
Yeah everyone else at minimum wage 😭😭if u ask me servers got one of the hardest jobs out there second only to tech support 😭
In that Oregon partners with family restaurants to scam people?
I work at a “family” restaurant, we have the place filled up most weekends with families coming in for their kids birthday parties (we sell pizza and if you live in the valley you probably know what place it is). We put in a lottery room about a year ago, and we went from having zero issues with homeless folks and junkies to having crack pipes left in the bathroom, people ODing, theft, and a bunch of other stuff you don’t really associate with family friendly businesses.
We make a lot of money off it, which I guess is good, but the business probably won’t last another 10 years because of how far we are willing to go to increase profits.
Just rename to purple parrot.
Pietros
Now I gotta ask, Papa’s Pizza?
My first thought was Papa's in C-Town.
I used to work at that one! It’s definitely in a spot that is surrounded by homeless encampments, so I could see that one having issues with drug use/paraphernalia.
What gave it away /s
Exactly
I saw a billboard that said "Oregon Lotto Pays for State Parks" and briefly considered writing gambling losses off on my taxes, ya know because it's cHaRiTy
You can write gambling losses off on your taxes tho..
Only up to the winnings
So you gotta keep going 'till you get that big win, so you can write off the losses too
My shady tax guy says "recruitment expenses and evaluation of potential entertainment venues" has more syllables, but I'ma look into this.
Small fish tho, I gamble maybe twice a year.
Only 3gs in losses if I’m not mistaken
Gets even better. Originally the lotto earning were to supplement school budgets and pay for stuff like gyms and centers for the kids.
But of course instead of that they simply cut the education budget by 30% and use the lotto money to balance it out.
So it's no longer extra money. It literally pays for teachers salaries.
So the education of our kids depends on the bad financial decisions of our adults...
Lovely.
Damn that's dark but seems like business as usual.
Sorry your kids are 50 to a class. But have you checked out the new park outside of Corvallis? It has birds.
It's unfortunate. But hey, when I stick that $20 in I can say it's for the kids and get a giggle. Birds aren't real. Who are you really?
And as a further dilemma: if you teach the kids probability you won’t have your next generation of gambling suckers, and the whole system will collapse.
Not to mention all the economic damage from gambling addiction. I had a few good friends that spent their 20’s putting their paychecks into poker machines. Fucking stupid idea to have state sponsored gambling on every corner.
This is where I thought all that weed money was supposed to go? Lol
Meanwhile aren't Oregon public schools rated 49th in the nation for statewide highschool performance? Idaho didn't participate in that census either...
Yeah, like 90% of the districts are heavy rural.
Take for example the school near me. They only go to school 4 days a week and have a shortened school year because of harvest..But man O man are people involved in their high school sports games...
Ya know, the important stuff.
Yup. I remind myself of this every election cycle when there are ballots proposing a new tax and the main arguments for are “dO it fOR teh cHILdreN!”
My dad calls the lottery a “stupidity tax” so it makes sense that it should be funding education, so maybe there will be less stupidity in gen?
They should name a park after me lol
I once overheard a woman's life implode while she was talking on the phone in front of a video gambling machine in a restaurant.
I only heard her half of the conversation, but it was full of stuff like, "Yeah I spent the rent money but I could have tripled it! You know that! I don't give a shit, half of it was mine anyway!"
Along with other gems that indicated her partner was fed up with this behavior. It ended with her crying into a G&T.
The lottery destroys more lives than it helps.

Your math doesn’t make sense.

Well for starters you think it’s possible to consistently make a profit off a lottery.
Lotteries exist as a way to create government revenue precisely because that is impossible

Bro, the math doesn’t work like that. The government would lose money if it did. The government would be paying out more than it brings in.
You’ve convinced yourself that this works. And it just doesn’t.
There’s a flaw in your math. Or you’ve gotten lucky and think the luck is the expected outcome.
You play a game of chance once a week, ie 52 times a year, with a 1 in 1000 chance of winning, and manage to win 3x a year. So somehow winning a 1 in 1000, every 1 in 17.33 plays.

You play the lottery so try not to act too high and mighty with your math skills lmao
There are no family restaurants, there are only chains, franchises. No one has good original ideas here.
Congrats!
Tillamook, nice!
Geez these comments suck. Congrats OP

Felt the same way when I won 300$ at a diner in New Orleans, coming from Florida
I now live in Oregon and honestly the lotto everywhere thing doesn't stop being odd to me.
I grew up here and honestly, until this moment, I’ve never considered that the lotto in every bar and restaurant was weird.
Yeah, perspective is a wild thing.
It's honestly like, mildly dystopian to me? I know that's a fairly extreme word to describe it.
Just weird seeing something like that just all over the place, when it's fully banned in my home state.
I’ve always found it weird but I didn’t know it wasn’t a thing everywhere. Every time I walk into an unsuspecting restaurant that has one I’m like… who tf comes here to gamble? Lol. Decent amount of people I guess
It’s not everywhere in oregon. Go to montana, you’ll see. It is literally everywhere. Gas stations, Subway restaurants, hotels, every single corner is something
It feels like everywhere compared to where I'm from.
The only thing I’ve won from Dennys was diarrhea
Whenever my father comes to Oregon to visit from California, he’s always gotta make a stop and blow a few hundred playing video poker in a dive bar
Same with my dad and aunt, from Ohio. They spend a good bit of time in those places and the casinos when they visit. They were just here, and went to three different casinos and frequented the smaller, restaurant gambling machines, too. That was their main entertainment. I live here and only go when they visit cause I don’t have money to throw away like they do.
Enjoy your trip to Salem :)

Hate Promoting hate or inciting violence based on identity or vulnerability.
Lol so much salt in the comments. Congrats. Enjoy that pancake money.
Mostly from people that never won a dime. I play a tenner while enjoying a beer the handful of times a year I actually have a drink.
I've had a few wins like that over the 20 years I've lived in Oregon.
I'm probably up a few bucks by now but it's all in fun.
It's sad as fuck watching people play on those things.
Totally. Oregon is a special place, not because people can sit inside a dark room and spend money to maybe win money
How much did you spend ?
I put 30 or 40 bucks in one of those lottery machines once. Never again
On my 21st birthday, my friend convinced me to drive to the mill casino in coos bay.
I was broke as fuck, I planned on just watching him gamble.
He gave me 5 dollars as a gift, and said “run with it.”
I had never played slots, so I had no clue what I was doing.
I sat down at the first machine that jumped out to me.
It was a sons of anarchy machine.
I put the five bucks in, and hit the “max bet” button.
My first spin, 4$ bet.
The entire screen was full of the same symbol… the face of one of the characters from the show.
I won 1181$ dollars on my very first spin.
I didn’t understand what was going on…
My friend was freaking out, and I just sat there like a deer in the headlights.
A very short man in a suit approached me with paperwork, and congratulated me on my win.
They brought out a camera and took a photo of me with my winnings, printed it out, and sent me off with a photo to commemorate my win.
Apparently if I had won 1,200 or more, I would have had to pay taxes on it.
Im contemplating digging through my drawers and find the photo to post it here.
I believe it's taxable either way, and over a certain threshold the casino is required to withhold the taxes for you. But even under that threshold you have to include that income on your tax return.
Bot
What gives you that impression?
Congratulations! One more tip- order your hashbrowns extra crispy. That's how you walk out of Dennys feeling like a millionaire.
I thought this was the bill that Denny’s charged you.
Gamblers only count the winnings
Remember how the lottery was supposed to fund the school system? Well my tax returns beg to differ.
The lottery does kick a lot of money into the school system, but the total revenue from the lottery is $2 billion, and state spending on schools is over $10 billion.
It's a shell game. Once the lottery was approved, they moved funds out of the school budget and backfilled with lottery proceeds. Technically the lottery money "went to the schools", but effectively it was really spent elsewhere.
Saying it was for the kids was just a marketing gimmick to get the voters to approve this tax on stupidity.
Where’s that money going? Chronic absenteeism is endemic and Oregon abolished any and all educational attainment standards. But I guess the administrators have phat pensions and late model Audis.
We spend less per student on instruction than any other state. But we’re paying a ton on debt service and capital expenses.

What game
I did the math and they can buy at least 3 grand slams.
“What the fuck is up Denny’s?!”
some years ago ( about 15) my wife and I had one of those thanksgivings-so we decided to go to the restaurant on the OP’s photo and played the lottery while eating.Food was fantastic, help was a lady with the face of a grandmother working her tail off, one of those smiles that was genuine yet lonesome at the same time if you know what i mean. Anyway, our winnings paid for our dinner, and a tip for her. Thanks for bringing back a great memory.
Danganronpa fans, we were so close to greatness
you really shouldn't post your lottery win on social media
everybody OP has met in their life will be after a piece of that $1K lol
It ain't the powerball dude.
Although I must congratulate OP; $1,100 is hardly gonna get you 2wks of rent here.

Absolutely. Still, congrats! Hopefully paid for a decent chunk, if not all of your trip?
Or do If you’re feeling charitable 😀
Clean your fingernails.
Congratulations!
Well, that simply is not correct. It’s one thousand one hundred seven dollars and thirty cents. 😏
Thank you! I was wondering why nobody else was commenting on this.
Til those machines suck your last dollar up. Fuck those machines. I've literally gotten tickets like that. And the next day put that mfr back in the machine. All of it. Blown rent, paychecks, lol drug money. I'm in a better place now. But fuck I hate those things.
Moons Over My Hammy?
Most cringey breakfast name ever
Ok, YetiSquish!
More than Rooty Tooty Fresh'N Fruity?
Ooooh hmmm….. that’s a tough one. That might even be worse
Stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
Who are the Oregon lottery commission and how did they get their jobs? To whom are they accountable and what other business and Investments are they involved with?
What is their relationship with law enforcement and are their machines recording people playing, training ai, extracting their cell phones data while they play or using AI to lead the entranced players into shoveling more and more money into the machines despite their better judgement?
Is it simply a way for the state to reclaim the unpaid taxes of profits made from drug dealers and other black market profiteers? Or also a way for the police to anonymously pay off confidential informants? No paper trail just tickets for thousands of dollars out of sheer luck.. pure conspiratorial speculations or facts? You decide..
My favorite Mexican restaurant has slots in the back.
Can’t beat Rancho Viejo.
I’ve never actually won anything there, but I will some day god damn it.
At least somebody’s winning. Congrats!
Been here 😂😂😂 not specifically dennys but won a 3600 jackpot at the bar on a Tuesday on a whim 😂😂
What does this mean?? Is this a receipt?
Did you do a celebratory cheese factory tour?
Nice. I won $100 once at a bar in Burns
Legalized gambling is one of the worst things Oregon has done to our society. There is no "luck.". I challenge any gambler to detail wins and losses. Gambling is handing your hard earned money over to the government. Why would you do that?
Gambling, it's just a voluntary tax making some things better with just a hint of a chance to become the next big supervillain.
This kind of luck makes me want to go get diner food.
That’s awesome. Congratulations
That's enough for one extra strip of bacon
lottery 'players' are a special kind of people 🙄

Some people work for a living, imagine that.
I worked on roofs for 15 years. I still washed under my nails before eating 🤷🏼♀️ you, just like being gross, I guess.
No, you're the gross one, extremely shallow, and it shows.
If being clean is shallow, I'll take it.
Since it went over your head, let me explain. Shortround is not criticizing your cleanliness, just your toxic elitism.
Didn't know it was elitism to wash your fucking hands in any public bathroom.?

Honestly looks like a mechanic or construction worker hands to me. If that's the case, tell this person to f*ck off lol. Congratulations. No, it's not huge money, but $1100 isn't anything to sneeze at either, especially from Denny's.
No it’s not. Been going to punk shows for 30+ years. Just got back from No Values. It’s definitely not a punk thing.
Edit: not sure what’s going on with the downvotes. Are people really that convinced that every punk has dirty fingernails?
..he was kidding and somehow it went completely over your head
Punks don't work and have soft clean hands
Well that’s definitely not true, either. Like I said, I’ve been going to shows for 30 years. I’m a land surveyor, so I have my fair share of calluses.
They don't like that I was a roofer for 15 years and was going to youth brigade likely before they were born and yet didn't have grimey hands. Just a lot of dirty handed keyboard warriors.

Only cost em 2500

Hey, don't talk about Trump 🤬
Dragging political bullshit for why?
He was looking to ‘find’ 11,000 votes. There’s audio of anyone doesn’t believe it.
It was
11,780
110730
That's so similar.
That will buy a lot of Grand Slam meals
