I recently started riding again after getting a pint x, I had a pint a few years back but decided to sell it when saving up for my first car. I don't remember it being a issue with my last onewheel but in the few days I've been riding I've shredded all my socks I've worn while riding, I haven't changed my brand of socks or shoes since I used to ride before so I'm not sure what it may be but any tips would be great. For context I normally wear converse while riding
High top vans mte. I’ve gone through 3 pairs and just keep buying the same shoe over and over.
Best shoe for activating footpads. Had issues with other shoes causing mount of shame
Any shoe works when you have gripples gorilla glued to even stock tape and sensors. Still using my stock tape and sensors with gripples and I never have mount issues edit - I'm over 1600 miles in
I love my Xero for riding and everything else https://xeroshoes.com/shop/shoes/prio-men/
Love xero shoes it's all I wear 🤙
I wear xero shoes 90% of the time but I hate them on onewheel feels like my feet are on fire after a few miles
Crazy how everyone is different.
Vans are the best. Ask any advanced rider. Their good for newer riders & advanced ✌️😎... I usually ride with my Mte high kicke. Their prefect for riding but alot of other style of Van's are good as well. Some other skate shoes like DCs aren't bad either. Their are other style of shoes not just skate shoes that are good as well. Some hiking shoes are good too. My Nike air force 1 mids are good too.. Their are a big range of different styles of shoes that are really good for the Ow . Some better than others for the sensor engagement. It boils down to that & rider preferences. I've seen all sorts of different shoes that are good for the Ow throughout the years but ide go for the Van's...the Mte's if you can. I think they run for 150 retail but their worth it. I've had mine a long time now & still do really good. I have another pair too that I like to ride with as well their called Knu Skool's . They cool too but the Mte's have the ankle support you need when riding 🤙🤙
Came here for the vans
I have the vans mte 2 and they would be too warm to ride in warm weather, plus the grip isn’t flat like regular vans. I go regular vans especially ones with pop Cush foot insert.
I am curious what this sub says for shoes for long standing rides? Like 10+ mile stands on the board
All my rides are 10+ miles. Most miles ridden in a day is 150. Low top vans slip ons all the way. Never any issues with foot pain
510 Freeriders
I use Nike SB Chron 2, haven't tried anything else, but I like them.
I’ve got the Airmax 9s that get some good contact on the footswitch
I either use Chucks, Etnies Kayson, or Adidas Superstar. I feel less in control when I use anything with cushion. I know it’s all in my mind, but it does feel odd.
I really like my cariumas. Also liked my Vans high top but god damn is it a pain in the ass to put on lol
High stop converse have been my go to. Such good board feel
Airwalk Prototype 600°
Airwalk Maydaylor
Adidas Top Ten RB
Adidas 510 Freeriders
While others will recommend brands, it doesn't matter if the shoe isn't wide enough for you. I rocked Vans for a while but their toe boxes aren't quite wide enough so whenever I rode I would get a lot of fatigue on the sides of my foot from the constriction. They were fine for walking around but when you're riding you're constantly pushing down into the footpads so your feet are splayed. Make sure to get a pair of shoes with enough room for this.
I prefer the Cariuma OCA Highs. A good balance of stiffness and feel, with decent ankle coverage.

I use Nike futsal shoes.
I like to have a shoe I can quickly run off the Onewheel in, I ride trails almost exclusively so I do a lot of bailing haha
i like old school basketball shoes, currently in a pair of puma suedes. they are low and flat, with ankle support and protection against banging your ankle on the rail.
I personally love riding in my Jordan 1 gore tex high tops!! I also see alot and I mean alot of riders wearing vans
Nike SBs give me the best contact and least false starts.
I have the Nike Air Huarache shoes, and they've been my favourite so far.
They seem to have a nice flat wide base with great comfort. Makes for a nice, stable, and comfortable ride.
Big fan of the OG Adidas Stan Smith
I picked up some hi top vans but I just don't like them. Trying to break them in and try again. Went back to trail running shoes, cause I have quite a few of them. No ankle coverage but the tight grippy fit is just what I need. So far my favorite are the Merrell long sky 2. Might grab a second set just to have cause they are getting beat up. They breathe really good so nice for long rides.
Barefoot style shoes. I like https://xeroshoes.com/. The Prio is what I wear
I wear Hey Dudes for casual riding and Vans Ultrarange for anything else
Nike court vision mids have been a game changer for me
I wear vans slip-ons. The comfort soles are worth the price.
Nike metcons. Flat stable and really sticky sole
Xero shoes, ftw
I like an old-school, high-top basketball shoe with a flat sole. Something with padding that comes a good inch or 2 above the ankle protect from the board smacking it, and gives extra support to avoid sprains.
My personal favorites are "Adidas Forum 84 High" and the "Nike SB Dunk High" (not so be confused with the "SB" which I have no experience with.
SK8 hi Vans
Does matter, flat bottom shoes with minimal cushion is what people are recommending you. Vans is an easy brand to say, converse chucks are the same shit. Just like pf flyers.
Or any minimalist shoes work like the xero, flux trainer, new balance minimalist, whatever.
I found as a newer rider riding a flat bottom zero drop shoe is mostly what you want. The more you ride and your body adapts the less cushioning you need in your shoe. However that said cushion mostly just robs your feel of the terrain your riding for more cushion to protect your joints. That can be done in the foot pads too.
I just wear pretty much anything closed top
the grip is also good, are skateboard shoes.
+1 for high top vans. Absolute best riding shoe.
Adidas sambas have been working well for me
I love my Vivo Barefoot low profile shoes. Nice frilly soles but thin profile, so you have a good feel for the board.
Tap dancing shoes. Anything but work shoes. I like wearing running shoes
High top Vans.
