Quick help.. Fixing to call a landman back

I have a national pipeline running through my property and a relative just gave me a message that a landman or someone from the pipeline co wants to talk to me about adding a test station.

What is a test station, how big is it and what do I ask for as far as documentation be sent. I know not to agree to anything on the phone.

I’m surprised whatever this is about is not already covered under their ROW.

I have no idea where to ask this question

So we flooded our lawnmower in the driveway. It’s a mix of oil and gas.. as of recently (since the weather has gotten hot) everytime we step outside we get this overwhelming smell of what smells like burning wires . Could it be the mess in the driveway causing that smell?

Where can I get more context on the event that caused large natural gas price movement on a historical date?

I have historical Nymex natural gas futures price data from 2008. I have identified some dates on which there was large movement in the curve. Given those dates, I want to read more on the event that occurred on that date which caused the large curve move. I want to check if those were systemic event. Any ideas or sources from where I can get this info.

Asking for popular Paid/Premium O&G Job Board

Hi guys, wanted to ask what would be the popular job ad platform apart from linkedin in oil and gas?

I’m recruiting internally for an Operator company, what would be the list of paid job board for an Operator company to use to find CVs for LNG/FPSO project?

Thanks

Offshore Drilling Rig

I am building a Lego offshore drilling rig and have some questions.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask. Anyway, i’m trying to gather a list of the most iconic/vital to function “must have’s” for a build like this. I have already prototyped a few things for scale and I think I can pull it off. Pictures and videos only go so far and I would really like to hear what you all think.

I am restricted to 2 floors in total, (not including the derrick) so space is tight.

Here’s the list so far:

  • Derrick
  • Drill Floor + Control room
  • Pipe Deck + Crane/delivery system for pipe + casing
  • Motor that raises lowers the traveling block
  • Mud Pump
  • Living Quarters (maybe galley if there’s room)
  • Lifeboat Capsule
  • Helipad
  • Powerhouse and Fuel Storage
  • Potable Water storage

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

Very few oil & gas wells south of Nacogdoches, TX...why?

I recently learned that I have some mineral interests on a property just to the southwest of Nacogdoches.

The railroad commission's GIS viewer (https://gis.rrc.texas.gov/GISViewer/) shows that very few wells have been drilled in this particular area (just a little west of 59 and south of Mangham Airport), whereas northwest of town (near the lake) has a very high density of operational wells.

Are there any regulations against drilling a high number of wells near an airport or too close to the city limits? The property is a couple of miles south of the airport and about half a mile from a residential neighborhood.

There is no record of any activity on the property, though there was a landman that showed interest and paid a small leasing fee several years ago...and that was it. It's possible that he did his research and bailed...though I have no way of knowing this.

So, is there any reason to think that areas south of Nacogdoches would have less gas in the ground (where there are currently very few wells) as compared to areas to the west and north, where there are many?

Where can I find surveys that might demonstrate that the limited well activity south of Nacogdoches is due to the fact that the experts don't think drilling there is worth the effort at this time?

Serious question: With production of >12k pbd and other hard assets in form of own acid gas clean cleansing, anyone have a view as to why this company would play in the sandbox of non-serious financial offers, as related to ongoing merger?

Decarbonisation

Hi what do you think about decarbonisation.

What are your thoughts on decarbonization? Governance, ideas, and the political landscape differ greatly, especially regarding future regulations.

There's a concern that Europe is undermining its own industry compared to the USA and other countries.

The chemical sector in Europe seems to be declining

.Are companies updating their facilities? For example, replacing fired heaters with sonic compressors that increase temperature through ramping and replace the radiant section.

What do you think about this technology?

Will we reach peak oil before the end of the 21st century?

Will we reach peak oil before the end of the 21st century?

What happens then?

Halliburton

I used to work for Baker Hughes as a water treatment operator and these were my duties: rigging up/rigging down a Unit, pulling and testing water samples using Palin Tester and Ph tester; and accurately documenting results on paperwork and share with Operator. Now my question is does Halliburton have any positions like this and if so what is the name of the specific job title? I know I can look on the website myself but just wondering if anyone knew...

Operating company wants to buy our mineral rights

My brother, sister and mom all received mineral rights to wells in Texas when my Dad passed. From time to time, we will get unsolicited offers to buy our mineral rights, which we simply vertical file. The other week we received a certified letter from the company that processes the oil and gas coming out the wells wanting to buy our mineral rights. This seems awfully suspicious to us - why would the processing company want to buy the rights? Of course, we're not going to sell, but I was just wondering if anyone could give any theories on what might be going on? I'm hoping they know they're going to expand operations and want to keep things to themselves, but that's definitely a reason NOT to sell for us!
