Did anyone else have a problem with 3 young male kayakers in the canals off Big Slough near the 41 on 5/15/2024? I heard a close by neighbor yell at them to stop harassing some ducks and I saw them running through peoples yards from the canals. I thought I heard others yelling at them for trespassing too. The kayakers seemed dismissive and combative at being asked to not trespass.

Hello North Port!

I'm currently in the initial stages of planning to construct a pool. Since moving to North Port, I've been managing with an above-ground 38' pool by Lowe's, though I must admit I wasn't particularly fond of it.

At this juncture, I'm strongly considering removing the above-ground pool altogether and opting for a more substantial in-ground pool. Does anyone have recommendations or personal experiences with any of these local builders?

I’ve been looking for phone books and can’t find any! I don’t need the info in the book, I need the paper so it can be outdated. Thanks!

This just started within the last month. When I turn on my faucet (city water, not a well), it gives me a spit before it starts running properly. I'm just wondering if anybody else is experiencing this issue and what the cause could be?

Will be staying in North Port for a few days. I need to do some remote work which includes some zoom meetings. Was hoping for somewhere close to be able to bike.

VENICE HONDA SOLD DAMAGED CAR!!!

About 5 months ago my sister bought her first car at Venice Honda and was very excited about it. A week after purchase, she notice discolored hood,black spots and was dull looking spot. After reaching out to dealership, sales person that my sister dealt with stated that Kyle Composto who is sales manager, will take care of it. Well Kyle decided to send us on wild goose chase for 5months. He had Service manager Darin look at it, Darin acknowledged that there was a definite paint job issues and decided to buff it. When Buffing didn’t do anything, he said to get a professional repair shop look at it. Well to everyone’s surprise, their sister company across the street “Toyota” looked at it confirmed that there was repair made, sent Darin a report and gave us a copy. Darin avoided calling for a week and would not return calls. When we noticed that this is endless game of “he did/she did” we reached out to Dathan Philips who is GM. He literally said “go kick dirt” and refused to have the car looked at or even attempt to fix this paint issue. We took the car to other Honda dealers around town, they all confirmed that after inspection, car appeared to have been in accident that was fixed and has clean title. The management at this dealership are quick to ask for your positive feedback the same day you sign on dotted line, but when you go back for issues, they are also quick to suppress your concerns, show lack of response, and terrible communication. There are many flaws with this dealership. Not only will they lie blatantly to your face, they will stand and deny it. Horrible customer service and it starts right up there with Dathan, Kyle and Darin(s ervice manager). Save your self a headache and look for Honda SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN VENICE HONDA!

Hey guys! There used to be an active band in North Port, Florida called Theskythesurrender. The band was in the post-hardcore/alternative rock ball park and made a self-titled EP in 2009.

I have a few questions about building on a three acre plot in North Port Estates. I was hoping to get some insight before having to call the County.

Short backstory for context: My daughter has bought a home in the Estates. Three acres, home, pool and barn. They would like to build a small mother in law home on their property. I believe they are unrestricted and/or Agriculture, near The NW corner, not far from Toledo Blade.

Will the county (not sure if they are in the city of NP), allow for a 900-1000 square foot additional home to be build here? If so, how difficult is the permitting process? Will this be a multi year ordeal to get in process?

My dad is a fingerstyle acoustic guitar player and singer who's been playing for 30+ years and had some minor local success before we moved to North Port a little over a year ago. However, we've had trouble finding establishments around here for his style of music, as this town seems to have more of an old rock 'n roll crowd, and his music is more catered towards a coffee house-type relaxed atmosphere. I'm sure there's gotta be some places like that around here though, we're just not that knowledgeable of the area yet. So what are some places in North Port or surrounding towns that host acoustic-style music, that we should look into for potential booking?
