If you get a Wii U and Switch, you can play basically every Nintendo game released in the past 15 years. You can’t go wrong.
But if you only get one, go with the switch because there are a fair amount of Wii U games ported to it anyway.
A colleague actually just bought the Wii u because the games in the used market are way cheaper. All Nintendo games on the switch are still very expensive.
Switch above literally any other system ever made. The library is absolutely incredible and getting more incredible every day. It’s a great portable, especially the OLED version which is stunning and great home console.
All of these things. Buy a Nintendo switch. You will love it forever. The Wii and Wii U have their gems, but so much of it is available on the switch and we just keep getting more. I love the GameCube, Wii, and Wii U, but if I had to pick one, I would yell out Switch! Immediately.
Wii-u games are super cheap and it can play normal Wii games... however a ton of those games are getting ported to Switch anyway. If you don't have a ton to spend I'd go Wii-u. If you have money I'd just go switch and enjoy all the current games too.
Switch first, Wii U second especially because you have a Gamecube and the Wii U will play Wii and Wii U games.
Don’t bother with the Wii. Since you already have a GameCube, a Wii U will open up the entire Wii and Wii U library to you. You should probably do some research since you apparently don’t even know what the Wii U is.
Switch does give you improved versions of a lot of Wii U games, but many games, and especially Wii games, are trapped there at the moment.
Get a Wii U and hack it so you have access to essentially every other console besides the 3ds
I wouldn't recommend getting a Wii U at this point, especially since the eShop is closed down, UNLESS you want to hack it to play roms and whatnot. Wii on the other hand, you should look into what games are on the system cause there are some decent ones to play.
Switch is def worth it because there are a ton of good games already on the system and there's going to be more coming since the system isn't done yet. I don't think the Switch will drop in price until the new console is out.
the Wii U can play both Wii U and Wii games, so if OP already has a gamecube then it makes sense to get that instead of a Wii.
I recommend switch above all else, followed by Wii, and then Wii U. Wii U plays Wii games which seems like it would make more sense to get, but I’m not recommending Wii U because 1) most of the worthwhile Wii U games are ported to switch, 2) my launch one was bricked from sitting in storage for a few years, which is wild to me, so I am not sure how long it’ll last. Wii has stood the test of time at this point, and has an excellent library of games. The only stuff on Wii U that is worthwhile and isn’t on switch (yet) are the Zelda wind waker and twilight princess remasters, which those are fantastic, but they’re probably coming to switch too.
A fix exists for bricked Wii U’s.
i would recommend getting a switch instead however ur a Zelda fan, if u havnt played Windwaker/Twilight Princess, especially Windwaker makes wiiU highly attractive (for awhile).
No point in getting a regular Wii unless you want to play gamecube games (which you can also do on Wii U just not without some effort) but really if you have none of them and have the money just get a Switch
Switch lol
Go with the switch of a hacked Wii
I think the only reason you’d get a Wii over a Wii U, assuming prices are similar, is that the Wii has GameCube support (the old model at least) and you’re able to use GameCube controllers in some games like Smash Brawl. Ofc if you’re open to modding, the Wii U becomes a GameCube as well.
The switch also has mainline Pokemon games. And is still getting new releases. So easily the switch
Wii U can read Wii games. Wii U eShop is dead and online features will be in april 2024.
Nintendo Switch has a online membership which allows you to play NES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, SNES, Nintendo 64 and GBA. It has a lot of Wii U, Wii and GameCube ports-remasters-remakes.
Get a wii u over the switch if you play more at home than on the go. With some work, Wii u can play every nintendo system up to wii u. NES, SNES,N64,GAME CUBE, WII AND WII U. It can even play gameboy, gameboy color and game boy advance games. Also nintendo ds games
I’d advise against the Wii U.
I bought one on eBay, and it works just fine, but finding games has been a real pain in the ass.
The Wii U disks are so densely packed with info that if the disk bends more than slightly at any given point in its life, micro cracks in the plastic actually obstruct the lasers enough on the reader to render the disk useless. Practically every disk I bought from GameStop online was unreadable since they packaged it in a flimsy sleeve and sent it through the mail.
I guess this problem wasn’t widely known since the system was so unpopular and the disks were in new condition.
If you can only buy any 1 of the systems you mentioned, I would recommend getting a Switch. It's the newest and best, being Nintendo's current main system and can be played either like a traditional console or as a handheld (as I'm sure you're aware).
If you can afford two, the Wii U is definitely the next best.
The Wii U is strictly a home console - the controller has a screen in it, but it will only work in the vicinity of the actual console, which plugs into the wall like a Playstation or Xbox does.
Wii Us can play both Wii discs and Wii U discs. A Wii U is like the equivalent of a PS3 where the Wii is like a PS2 in terms of power, so it's a generational upgrade. The Wii U has games running at 1080p (HD), whereas the Wii maxes out at 480p (SD).
The Wii U supports Wii controllers, too, but will only work properly with a Gamepad (the one with the screen in it). Wii U stuff is not compatible with regular Wiis.
Switch would he the best investment. 80% of the Wii U you wanna play got ported to Switch. However, you can also play Wii games on Wii U which makes it a great investion.
Just keep in mind that recently Wii Us started to brick which needs you smallest amount of modding you can image to fix it.
Keep in mind there is a lot of speculation that a new Nintendo console is coming next year
