One of the worst IMO was when the Lions coach Marty Mornhinweg was roundly criticized for chose to take the wind instead of the ball against the Bears in OT
What are some of the worst coaching decisions in NFL history?
Not running the ball in during the Super Bowl with Marshan Lynch, instead throwing an interception to Butler, and then Micheal Bennett off sides 3 times in a row, with now chance to get the ball back.
If they got a safety they could’ve possibly won. There was still about 20 seconds left.-3 seconds on the safety. Punt form the 20. Let’s say it’s 50 yards with a 5 second hangtime.Thats -5 seconds.Ball is caught at the 30 and returned 20 yards because it’s like a kickoff (on a real punt a 20 yard return
is rare).now they are at the 50 yard line.If the return takes 4 seconds now we have 7 seconds. So you can either throw a quick out than a hall mary or just throw a Hail Mary right there.Unlikely, but it impossible
Again, coaching was not in line with that thought process or winning at that point. We were in butt hurt mode, causing a chain of events that were a catastrophe. What all us 12’s wanted was to wipe that smug smile off of Brady’s face had Marshawn ran it in.
Good point
