Baltic Sea Region Forum 2024 - Turku, Finland

Last week, the annual Baltic Sea Region Forum was held by Centrum Balticum in Finland.

The 16th Baltic Sea Region Forum was organised on Monday 20th May 2024 at the University of Turku with the theme The NATO 2024 and Arctic Europe. We thank all the participants and welcome you to join the Forum next year again. This year the Forum attracted nerly 500 participants.

The Forum theme was covered in three panel discussions. The first panel discussed the military challenges in Arctic Europe. The second panel focused on the future of transatlantic cooperation. The third panel discussed the media's role in contributing to security.

Many interesting contributors took part in the event, starting with Lieutenant General (ret.) Ben Hodges, the former Commander of United States Army Europe, and Rear Admiral Tuomas Tiilikainen, the current Commander of the Finnish Navy, who appeared as keynote speakers.

You can find all the keynotes and panel discussions in the video of the event on YouTube, if you are interested in getting a Nordic and Baltic view of the current international issues.

The full recording of the event is almost six hours in length, so take that into account if you want to look into it. Many interesting points are raised, though, so it might be worth to take the time during the weekend to watch the recording, maybe enjoying a beer while doing so.

Alert level / condition / readiness

Hi guys

So we all remember the movies with DEFCON levels 1 to 5... My question is this:
Does anyone know if NATO itself has anything similar? If so what is it called? and does anyone perhaps even know what level we are at?
