NOTE:I’m his mom and I’m a lifelong migraine sufferer! Somewhat controlled with Qulipta and Botox. So I know the deal sadly.

My 14 year old son has migraine with aura/numbness. He’s had for about 2 years on and off.

Over the past month he’s had about 8. One ended up in ER with vomiting. He’s missing school, friends and activities.

We are seeing ped Neuro and we have medicine to help when attacks come-but I’m wondering what are the best preventatives for teens? Would he be able to get Botox for Migraine-even if insurance won’t pay bc he’s a minor? I’m desperate to get him some help as I’m worried the days In bed are going to affect his mental health even more.

I’m having trouble identifying any triggers. Nothing makes sense-I imagine it could be puberty/ growth spurt-but are the hormones that strong in boys too?

Any advice I’ll take it
