The Länd?
Shopping on the weekends, as it's cheap.
well yeah but they wouldn't let me take pics in the spa there
Ja, konkret in Aalen.
Bist du zufälligerweise ein FDP Politiker ?
Except Somalia 🏴☠️
I don't even get the joke but it killed me regardless
RIP
Somalia has a huge piracy problem, and no not the online one.
but that probably too
Lol. I don't even post my travel pics to people that don't care. I just show it to friends and family that do care.
Yeah same
I don't even travel
my friend asked for the and they didn't care
I send a couple of them to close friends and relatives when they ask for them, on Whatsapp or other messaging apps, that’s it
I'm sorry to tell you this. But we (family and friends) also don't care. We're just being nice.
If it’s pics of the pool or resort idgaf, but if you got to check out some ancient ruins or see some cool iconic architecture you better fucking show it
Mine do. Or they miss out on the souvenirs 😂
Private social media is a win, follow all your friends who you care about the photos of only
me too
I post it on Instagram and then forget about it… I travel pretty extensively and pretty off the beaten path so I sometimes get some messages like “Where is that?”. Overall though I generally don’t care about the likes or whatever. It’s mostly for me to go and look back at.
I don't even take travel pics.
Based
My pics are all castles and ruins. And I never share them.
please share
Listen here you little sh-
Here’s a gold star ⭐️
We love castles and ruins
Ah, a fellow history enjoyer
Same, my vacation pics are mostly just cool rock piles. That and/or plants
what matters more is my memories in my mind
Ya those disappear though. Pictures help you remember them. Pretty much only reason I take pictures
What the hell is this dude doing in Libya and Somalia?
Probably chilling at a pool
I went to Thailand with a friend, he brought his laptop 💻 and spent 9 days on bed watching Prison Break
Every Tinder profile of a man who has visited 48 countries and counting! Want to join me on my next trip?
I feel called out 😂
I can’t stand stationary vacations. I went to Turkey for a week and was bored out of my mind and wanted to go home after 3 days
However, when I went to Vienna everyday was active, and I visited something different, which makes the experience much more memorable
Which city in Turkey did you visit?
Antalya, at a beach resort, closer to Alanya though
Im actually from Antalya lol. But i can get how do you didn't leave the resort, Alanya is pretty far from the city centre.
Plenty of things to see in Turkey, including Antalya. You just didnt look.
I understand that Vienna has a beautiful historical centre, but it's not like Turkey doesn't have any cities not worth visiting. The fact that you chose to go to a holiday resort doesn't mean Turkish cities can't be vibrant and picturesque. Not to mention the national parks and overall nature in the country
Guy went to breeding ground of European Empires and said "nothing to do".
It’s just that, having been to a resort, I didn’t get to see anything historical, cultural or architectural
I saw some camels, a modern bazar and empty drylands
I think the point they're trying to make is that you could have left the resort, like for a day trip or two.
Well unfortunately the resort was super isolated from everything, over 2 hours away from the city and tours to Alanya cost so much money that it wasn’t really worth it
Yea, no one is forcing you to stay at the resort right?
Americans get scared to leave the resort because the people who get paid to keep them spending tells them that
Yea true that
I’m fairly certain CitingAnt is not American based on their profile. I assume they stayed at the resort despite being bored for some personal reason then
Can't get mad at the world for being an NPC.
But fr, I mean like any 1st world suburban. I'm a Yankee so I threw murica under the bus.
IKR. Stays in the resort the whole time and complains he doesn't see anything. Anatolia is a region brimming with History.
Where did you see a camel? I lived in this city my whole life and didn't see one ever
Vienna is a very cool place to visit
Having visited and lived in Turkey for a little, there’s a lot to see. It’s just a lot of people, including friends, go straight to Antalya and sit in a pool for a week... of course you don’t see anything.
Oh I get it! The person marking their places on the map has murdered the men on the right and they have a specific type of victim. White with dark hair and sunglasses. This must be their momento board.
It could be I live close to the beach, but I never understood flying around the work to go to a beach resort. If I’m spending thousands to go somewhere I want to see more of the place than a small strip of beach locals aren’t allowed to come to.
This is how my brothers travel, just going to the same resorts in different countries.
Like why bother taking the plane all the way to fucking Hawaii if you're going to be sitting in a hotel that's exactly the same as the one you sat in in Mexico? Why go all that way and not see what makes the place different and unique?? How can you be so incurious about cultures and places so completely different from anything you know???
What is the "but"? Travel alone? Thats not a "but"
The "but" is never setting foot off the resort
Probably fair for Somalia ngl
Don’t go to Somalia ngl
Unless you like living in a place with no 911
No you should go to Somalia, its a libertarian paradise!
If that’s what a person wants, I’ll never knock them for it.
I wouldn't, that's how you get kidnapped
Edit: hivemind go brrr
But you need to experience what locals experience to truly visit the place.
So you need to work there?
You need to be kidnapped, tortured, and etc.
Hey I didn't make the rule that we need to experience what locals experienced. I thought travelling would just mean enjoying whatever I enjoyed.
Go to a local resort and save on the airplane ticket
In Somalia, yeah. Morocco, New York, Boston and portugal are some of the ones I can see that would be completely safe
Why even bother leaving the country then 💀
They go to every country, park themselves at a resort with a pool, and never leave. So in fact they have been to basically 0 countries because everywhere is exactly the same when you do this.
"But" I really like pool
Strange that there is a picture in Portugal but the map only has a pin in Spain
He can’t tell the difference.
Resort holidays. Urgh.
One reason I like to travel around in cities.
So? The guy was able to vacation. Who gives a shit how he spends his time and money.
Yes, but...
For anyone confused, I recommend watching the movie Playtime
I dont get the joke
He never leaves the hotel and pool to explore the country. So sure he visited multiple countries, but never actually seen or experienced them
and that’s funny because?
Because these are the people that write ”I love to travel” in their Tinder bio. It’s like catfishing for us who actually enjoy seeing and experience other cultures.
It’s like calling yourself a gourmet or claiming to be a connoisseur in food but you only eat at McDonalds.
ah so we’re gatekeeping traveling now lol
Do whatever you want but don’t tell me that you like traveling if you never leave the resort.
Is this what your travel photos look like? Seems to have hit a nerve.
yea man sure
Its called travel becouse you travel, going to a resort only to stay there is just vacations at home with extra steps
And who appointed redditors to be the supervisors of traveling and vacationing? Who are you people to say what constitutes as travel? Like why can’t you be normal for once
Me, I am
Becouse being normal is boring
And who are you to dismiss someone's critiszm? lol It's okay to never leave a resort just as how it's okay to crtisize doing that.
criticizm can be valid without literally saying “its not travel” when in fact, it is fucking traveling
well you are free to have your own definition for that concept, but many people who are acrually into travelling wont share your opinion
I feel like you're defending your point just for the sake of it, but my money is if you went to Paris you'd attempt to see the eiffel tower and not just lounge by the hotel pool.
Because there’s no point going all over the world to do the exact same thing in every place.
Lol, I can related to this
I have 5-6 too, but all seems so similar so never posted 2nd one. :-P
Thats why I always try to actually DO things on vacation instead of just hanging around at the resort. Swimming pools and cocktails are everywhere, doesnt matter which country.
I dont get it
Travels around "to see the world". But never leave the resort where they just lay at the pool and eat normal western food.
Nothing wrong with resorts, but you cant really say you visited that country.
Counterpoint, I got like 5 different kinds of diarrhoea from the different places I visited. On a scale of 'visiting a place' that ranks much higher than seeing some old buildings and I did it from the comfort of my hotel.
But have you even been to Baden-Württemberg ?
