Check it out; just set up my entertainment setup at my new place :D
Somewhere between 2001 and 2009
I'm jealous, actually.
Fr, take me back 😩

He's a vintage gamer, and those games look better on a CRT. I expect this is what my brother's den looks like, only with a lot more vintage game consoles.
I hate blocking the windows 😖
Anyway you can move things around so you can have all the windows be free? Seems kind of counter intuitive to block them with high closets
I have to warn you about something in September 2001.
Nice! I love seeing all the games/media on display.
Thanks! Shockingly I collected almost all of this within the span of just a couple years during my high school days, off of just allowance.
All that matters is that it makes you happy.
That it does :)
It's impressively clean and well-organized.
Thank you!! Everything on the shelves is alphabetized too. I have various buckets and old coffee cans where I organize cords, controllers, and that sort of thing, but they're out of sight.
It's impressively clean and organized.
It's impressively clean and organized.
So cool!!!
I just wish your setup wasn’t on the ground. It deserves shelf space to be on display when not in use!
Never ever sell the CRT bro never.
You're telling me this is a current setup? In 2024.… Is that a CRT television?
Yes! I'm into older stuff. You'll also notice I have a real NES and N64, and games for every other Nintendo console ever released. If you look reeeeally closely you can even see my blackberry phone in this picture
New age Amish lol
As someone who was alive when these things were new. I just don't understand. We were happy to move on from the 200 pound tvs that take up so much space. I'm sure there must be analog to digital adaptors out there to play on a flat screen.
there are hdmi adapters for old consoles but in my experience (even if they are good) its not the same experience
You also need a CRT for NES Zapper/light gun games. They rely on the timing of when a CRT draws each part of the screen to be able to tell where you are aiming
Nah, I prefer these sorts of TVs. I prefer retro tech in general. I find it more interesting, functional, reliable etc. than new tech. Just a personal preference
As a matter of fact, I have the opposite- an HDMI to AV converter, so I can connect newer devices to it!
Fair enough, enjoy. I remember having a good time with them. My first console was the Atari 2600.
I actually have one of those; it's in the picture! I like the Spider-Man game on it.
Nice! Mine was wood grain I think. Also my favorite games were "river raid" "pitfall" and a game called "plaque attack" where you are a tube of toothpaste fighting against sweet foods and tooth decay.
It doesn't look the same. Believe me. There is an entire market for CRT. If you google it you can see side by side image comparisons that show the old actually is a better image than new.
There's actually a lot of really good reasons to still prefer a CRT screen. I'll try not to get too into the weeds as a CRT nerd but the quality on them was actually generally higher than LCD monitors for a while, they weren't replaced by LCDs for quality it was for convenience. CRTs have more color depth than old LCDs too, with better and deeper blacks that weren't beat until we got OLED screens semi-recently. There's also little to no input lag on old CRTs if you're gaming, and converters between analog and digital signals introduce a host of new problems. Motion clarity is better on CRTs as well.
I've still got a CRT monitor and TV for all my retro stuff, it looks 1000% better on those vs modern displays.
Old stuff just WORKS! no buffering from the network, updating, ads, "accept new changes ", calibrate this, pair that etc.
As long as it works that what matters. Do you still have to use the old blow method to get the NES games to work?
Whatre your thoughts on Virtual Boy? I still have mine but the stand was garbage for how heavy it is so I figured out how to attach it to a helmet when i was a kid. I just couldnt give up Wario Tennis or Waterworld
Broken stuff
Oh man, he's got multiple CRTs. Fantastic for older games.
One I understand, but multiple. I think he needs an intervention.
Thanks! :D I have another CRT in my room hooked up to a C64.
It looks like you have inherited your dead grandma's place w/ all the furnitures, kept it as it is and then added a bunch of video games, tv screens and toys.
This awesome man. I have the same phone
Really?? That's so cool! Do you like older phones? I actually have a small collection of 2000s-era phones
Oh wow! All that old tech is hitting me right in the nostalgia! Love it
Model m spotted 👀 nice place. Pretty jelly. Really dig your couches.nice small CRT for N64 too.
Thank you! :D
This room hasn’t even begun to peak.
It's beautiful.
Thank you :D
You seem like a really cool guy! I'm a game collector as well and just love to see other's collection :)
Thank you, that's such a nice message :) I'd love to see yours too!
This is pretty cool dude. Let's talk about that laptop. What is it and what are you using it for?
Yes the laptop is super cool, I also would like to know what is it exactly?
Hello to you both; glad you asked! :)
That right there is a Panasonic Toughbook CF-30. I got it on ebay for like 40$. No joke, this thing is a MILITARY LAPTOP. Like, it's designed to be used in BOMB ZONES. You can run over it with a CAR and it'll hold. It's made of strong metal, as thick as a dictionary, and even if SOMEHOW something happened to it, all the internals- the hard drive, disk drive, battery, ram- are all behind little doors and can be easily removed and replaced, like cartridges. I own three of these and I put all the necessary parts together myself. The thing even has an antenna, which is functionally useless but I put it up anyway to look cool, lol. I put a 2TB SSD in there and have it tri-booted with Windows 10, 8.1 and 7. Gonna put Linux on it pretty soon too.
I mainly got this thing because I wanted a laptop that wasn't gonna break on me since modern laptops always do. However, my favourite part by far has gotta be that handle. I *adore* that handle. It makes it such a dream to carry around and I wish every laptop had a handle. One of those things I didn't even know I wanted until I had it.
You know what else is kickass? The thing actually BLOCKS any internet connection for the first minute you open it, which means windows literally CAN'T install unwanted updates until I tell it to!
What I'm using it for is game development. I am a game developer and I have been since I was a young teenager. You can find some of my games on Steam, under "Formula Fanboy". I am also currently working on a movie, much of which takes place in the 2000s, and this laptop along with a bunch of other old tech will be featured in it. :)
Looks mid '90s...nailed it !
Reminds me of my childhood home. Nice set up brother.
This gives me 2000’s nostalgia.
Looks like “unpacking” the game irl. That’s a compliment btw 😀
i'm high so at first I saw this and was incredibly excited at the 90s theme thinking it was not even a theme but even now knowing it is a theme it's still pretty cool.
Thanks! Honestly I didn't really do the "theme" on purpose, if anything I thought it was more 2000s-y, but this is just the stuff I've collected over my life. :)
There’s a few things that really bother me here:
Blocking windows & natural light with bookshelves
Huge amount of cords, controllers, & clutter on the floor
multiple CRT’s (?)
mismatched TV console & shelves
field laptop
blackberry on the sofa
+1 for It’s Always Sunny though
The bookcases in front of the windows it mind-blowing dumb.
like it!
Thanks! :D
Love it! Good stuff :D
Looks nice!
Not “I’m glad my mom died” 💀
I know that's a very shocking title but the actual book is very sincere. Have you ever heard of the show "icarly"? Well one of the child actresses on that show, Jeannette McCurdy, was abused a lot as a child, she was forced into television, taught an eating disorder, involved in creepy behaviour from the people at Nickelodeon (of course) etc. It's a memoir about her life which she was sort of conditioned into rather than living naturally. Personally it's helped me cope with a lot of things in my own life and I think it's a great book for victims of abuse
I’m aware. Just trauma clocking trauma
no 32" sony trinitron? bro, what are you even doing?
BELIEVE IT OR NOT I actually do own one of those; it was left here in the house for me! However I prefer mine since the Sony is a flatscreen CRT (which I've never seen) and it also has less inputs. I'm also personally attached to the one on the stand since I've had it since I was a child
So I'll probably give the Sony one to someone else or maybe sell it
I love all the old games and systems! But the horizontal stacks, open shelf spaces, and cable management is driving me crazy lol
As for cable management I actually am planning to drill some hones in the rightmost shelf to feed cords through the back :)
Horizontal stacks save a looot of space and aren't much of a hassle for me personally
Heck yeah, that’s the way to go!
As long as you know where everything is, who cares how it is lol all preference. How are all the consoles connected, is there like two consoles per screen or do you hot swap connections? Or a component switch?
Wii, Wii U and Switch are all connected to the little flatscreen, which has two HDMI slots and one AV slot.
My DVD player and the N64 are connected to the big boy which has 2 AV in.
The little one has the NES connected to it, since they're both mono sound.
I know what you're thinking- what about the SNES and Gamecube?
I play SNES games on a Hyperkin Supaboy which is basically a Nintendo Switch for SNES games. You pop the cartridge in and play portably, but you can also hook up AV cords and controllers and use it on the TV like the regular console. And my Wii is backwards compatible for Gamecube. :)
What YEAR IS IT
I have a VHS room in my house with a PS1/PS2 along with all my VHS tapes that pair with my projection tv. I get the aesthetic, very nice
It should be a crime to cover up windows like that. I wish I had that much natural light coming in
Impressive and nostalgic
I wish your bookshelves were against the wall, you’re blocking a lot of light coming through those windows.
Looks good but I think you should get a console of some sort, it would really tie the room together
This is so cozy!
Love it makes me feel like I’m back in the 90s or early 2000s
On the one hand, I'm jealous of the collection of vintage games. On the other hand, the chaos is making the borderline obsessive compulsive gremlins in my head scream in agony. One tip: consider painting the TV stand white to match the shelves and window trim.
Wha… wha…. What year is it?
Wake up bro it's 2009
Man what do you need a tough book for?
Developing Pellet Packer 3
Why not move the table away. You know, you can directly sit on the floor or the sofa.
nah, want the table
Game he has never played ,Vagina!
What year is it in your world?
