Don’t ever get a pet again.
Having pets is a commitment. Are you just going to get rid of your baby when things get hard (because they will!)? I assume the answer is no. It’s no different than a pet. You shouldn’t be able to just dump them just because your lifestyle is going to change.
It’s different if you were about to be homeless, or you were seriously ill and couldn’t provide for them, but you just don’t WANT to provide for them. They were a placeholder for your family while you waited to have kids.
I have absolutely no respect for people like this. I volunteer at my local cat shelter and I see this exact same situation time and time again. Straight couple has cat as placeholder for baby, baby comes along, couple dumps cat. I can assure you, our shelter bans people like you from ever adopting from us again.
- I’m done arguing with you guys and defending myself. My point still stands ✌🏻
Comparing getting rid of a pet to getting rid of a child is asinine. There is a risk of a child being born blind if exposed to toxoplasmosis in the womb. It is a very small chance, but to judge someone on their ultimate goal to protect the health of their child is not anyone else's place. My Dr suggested I rehome my pet rabbit when I was pregnant with my son for the same reason. Someone that has brought a child into this world would never say it's no different than a pet. It is absolutely different! It is a human!!!!!!!
You are incorrect stating that "someone who has brought a child would never say it's no different than a pet." Try Instagram or TikTok for the comments on viral posts. MANY people with children equate them. Including myself.
The world does not consist entirely of humans identical to you, all popped out of one mold, thankfully. Compassion and empathy for more than just humans makes for a much more attractive personality.
You're right, what I should have said was: a good parent would never say that a pet is no different than a child. Go tell your child that they are no different to you than your pet. 😂
You're trash. That's all. Just pure trash.
My adult children have said it themselves, so I don't need to. We have well-adjusted, successful children, who love animals as we do. It's too bad you are so narrow-minded.
