Just some afterwork listening. Nothing to really do with my system these days except enjoy it.
Thank you.
It has been a minute since i last posted on here. Nothing has really changed. I moved some equipment around for better cable management. Im still not happy with it, but for now it will do.
The Rega phono and psu has been well spent. No regrets. The Line Magnetic prooves to be an incredible amp for the money. I yave been very happy with rhe sound of it. Having the additional tubes on the freya+ allows me to further play around with a spectrum of warm to cold that i have really been enjoying.
This has allowed me to dial it in for Jazz or say electronic music with a decent range if control. If that doesn't fix it the Loki can usually take xare of that last little tweak.
Im pretty much capped for records and because of this i have cooled off. I have space for another two kallax cubes. After that uh oh!!
I think for the first time in years my system is just a system. No real complaints. Next upgrade I'm gunning for is a sub and a new DAC.
The KEF KC62 is a perfect match for the LS50’s. Are those the Metas, we all a lot of both.
They are the og version. I demoed the metas woth a kc62. That little guy is pretty amazing.
vibes.
😎
Now that’s a space. Love your style.
needs a big rug.
To tie the room together
Or, as a poster much more clever than me said about another room, you could put rugs on the floor and walls, and then the room ties the rugs together.
I don't disagree. I've debated this for a very long time. It's a small apartment and we rearrange the couch all of the time to accommodate different seating arrangements and that is one of the reasons we have never done it.
I had one a very long time ago though.
maybe move the rug out a bit so it has some more room, right now it looks like it’s halfway underneath the cabinet
I think ultimately i would like to get a very nice Persian rug or something handmade. The small one caught my eye on a trip to Texas when i was wondering about this antique store. Admittedly i didn't have a plan for it.
I have this habit of taking years to make a purchase lol. I will actively sit on that idea till the rug of my dreams comes into my life. I'm very selective and will shop for years without purchase. If i cannot find the thing i want i will make it. I've been shopping for a new coffee table but in that process I've decided that i don't need a coffee table and that having the space to be flexible is more valuable. I have a small table on wheels in my bedroom that can be rolled into the living room i have a piece of wood that i lay on top to create an expanded dining room table. I will roll that out for parties and what not.
All of this has allowed me to function beyond what my space will allow. I've now been in this apartment for over 6 years and when i moved in i had a chair and a bed lol.
These days i hope to leave this rent hell behind but alas this renter life is for me. I have clearly mounted more shit to my walls than any sane person who wants to get back their deposit would do. This is only half the apartment lol. I have completely built out this place and customized every inch of it.
My landlord gives me some mean looks on fire alarm inspection day lol. But hay i always tell people to move into a pre war building because it can be your canvas. I hate New buildings. They would have evicted me by now if this were piece were new.
All of that is to say it has taken me 6 years to build this room out. Slowly obsessing over it on weekends and nights and looking at a lot of the posts on here for inspiration. This sub is honestly an amazing cross section of humanity because it shows the diversity in music lovers. That and listening spaces are not precious they tend to be active spaces that change with the weather or a flip of a record. I just love seeing spaces that people actually use and live in. There is something disturbing about a space for show, a space that nobody actually enjoys. For me it's like a studio but definitely not a place of permanence. I have documented the space over these years and it is wild to go back to day one.
I am an architect by trade so i could never envision the perfect space and execute one one vision there are far too many ideas bouncing around in this noggin for one path. No.... I need to explore them all, gathering Intel and evidence along the way. In 5 years i expect this will look much different or perhaps be in a different setting all together.
It would be nice to turn my passion for sound and architecture into the ultimate dream job designing listening rooms.
Beautiful space. Enjoy.
Beautiful space.
Thank you
Beautiful space.
Living in the music. Tubes for light.
It never tires.
Is that little toaster oven an SPC-30? With a Realistic Stereo Reverb sitting on top? I’ve got those in my collection too. We’ve got great taste 👌🏽
It's a shitt loki sitting on a realistic STC-38c cassette deck. It's close enough.
The art is well arranged and chosen, wish I saw more like that.
Thank you everything but the center painting is mine.
Basquiat?
No but I'm the same style it's a print of this painting some artist did for black China. I can't remember. My partner bought it.
Good painting…you definitely have the visual sensibility of a talented artist.
Just bought the ls50’s they sound great. How have you been liking them?
I've loved them for a long time now. It took a bunch of different amps over a couple of years to really dial them into my preferred flavor. They have been reliable and at times phenomenal.
The art in this room is next level. This is a fantastic room.
Thank you the Art is mine except for the larger one over the Tv.
I spy a Misha LP.
Yeah i picked it up on a trip to Detroit.
What tape deck is that?
It is a realistic stc-38
Gorgeous
Impeccable vibes in here... What shelves are you using to hold your records and equipment? Love the light wood and black metal accents.
They are custom. I built them during covid. They are designed to be rearranged a number of different ways. Its laminated 1/2" baltic birch plywood and i bought the legs on amazon. The other metal shelving hardware i bought at home Depot.
I wish i would have bought legs an inch longer as it would have left a little more room for equipment and my books would be able to stand up.
Love this space. When can I swing by?
How do you like the KEF?
I love them.
Nice 😊
chill and beautiful set up.
You have great style.
This. Is. Dope.
Very much so.
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!! (or woman)
.00001% of people can have that much shit and make it look like you are not a hoarder.
excellent work. you missed your calling.
Haha well it's a small apartment. It helps that i have 12' ceilings and i have really paired things down to what is necessary. It's all intentional. I'm a designer by trade. My own personal experience is it's hard to design the look it's more about adaptation and evolution of space and equipment. I do tend to collect cool objects but i have tried to curb that over the years. I live next to a bunch of antique stores so i am always finding old industrial pieces or vintage collectables. Especially hifi i have been going through equipment and playing around with different setups. That and my record collection has really grown in the last 4 years. If you go back on my profile it will search my name on her then you can see the evolution over the years. The result is organic growth as a result of function and need and but so much aesthetic. It's a balancing act.
Nice art too!
It’s nice to see the speakers pulled away from the wall and on stands!
Yeah i pull them farther out some days but over time they have slowly migrated back for more bass. There is certainly a compromise but the ls50 sound even better the farther out they are.
Really cool room. I like the art!
Thank you. Cheers
This is just awesome!! Big thumbs up, friend!
Looks great, bonus points for mounting the TV at a reasonable height!
Haha yeah i mounted it a long time ago after i moved in. I would actually like to bump it up another 6" and to the left a couple inches. But the bracket is maxed out so I need to redo the whole thing and cannot be bothered.
Ha! At first I thought that item on the left wall was for your mix tape collection. Or, Dead bootlegs.
I had a massive mixtape collection and I let it go 6 years ago, after never listening to it for too much.
The problem was, it was for me, too much memory. I am cursed with a memory that remembers the past quite well, and a mix tape is like a mnemonic nuclear furnace. It's freaking exhausting.
I'm not sure I need that level of engagement. It's doable. But, things are getting to the point one has to make a decision on how lost one wants to get.
Great room! Lots of visual interest
