LaunchBox
r/launchbox•11.9K subscribers•2 activewhy I'm asking is because I need to complete pokedex
I have MAME on 0.259 and i want to update to the last version. The thing is, can i update only the games i already have or i have to update the full set?
Or in other words, how i can manage to separate the games i have from the full set?
I have a full non-merged set, so no problem just moving the games from the new version to the old?
I just built an arcade cabinet running Launchbox. I have tons of ROMs and for the most part, things work pretty well. I'm getting stuck getting all of my MAME roms to work. A bunch of ROMs doesn't launch with the default latest MAME version 0.265. I started messing around with the command line and figured out that using retroarch.exe and different MAME cores, I could get them to work.
for example, the simpsons ROM would work doing something like this:
retroarch.exe -L mame2010_liberto -f -v simpsons.zip
I can get launchbox working by changing the emulator for the game and adding a custom argument.
Is there an easier way? I don't want to go through every game and figure out which retroarch core is needed to launch it.
Should the ROMs just work with MAME 0.265? Maybe I have something in my configuration that is broke there?
When I play ganes from bigbox I don't have any issues when booting up my first gane to play but when I turn off a game and then go play another one the system theme won't stop playing audio. And turning off bigbox and restarting it does notnfix it.
Seen a post from 2018 about this problem whybhas this not been fixed?
Is there a way to delete media files that will not be used by my current theme setup? I’ve settled on a theme layout and only want to keep the media files that will actually be displayed, does the media cleanup tool do this? I play in big box mode, and have emumovies
I just set up my ps3 emulator and first game I installed came with a fix Eboot.bin
Launchbox keeps thinking its master reboot and keeps installing meta data for a game I don't have :-/
Hello I am soon going to be getting launchbox and was wondering if I should use retroarch for nes-psx or use stand alone instead.
Which do you prefer and why?
Hey there, I'm trying my best to add as much information and screenshots as I can for some not-so-well-know but great amateur games available on windows but some of them are lacking any cover. I'm looking for someone who would be willing to help make covers for those games and give them a bit more of visibility in the process! Thanks!
The part of the game select screen that has the EmuMovies gameplay video shows the video shrunk down, and then partly covered with other animated graphics or logos from the game. This seems to be the case with every different theme I try. Is there a setting to remove these extra graphics and animations and only show the EmuMovies gameplay video in that section of the game select screen? I looked through the Theme Specific Options but did not see any relevant settings. (I still want to display all of the text relating to the currently selected game, so I'm only referring to the part of the screen that shows the video and animations.)
My cabinet uses a 4:3 monitor, so I'm limited to themes that are not widescreen only.
Is there an easy way to do this? At the moment it just opens steams big picture mode and it won't turn off no matter what I change in the settings
Hi. I use a Switch Pro Controller and everything works fine with Launchbox and BigBox.
But I would like to change the buttons on UI. I mean, when it says “B for Back”, it’s actually A on my controller, as the button layout is different than the default Xbox Controller.
Can I change? Like, if I used a DualShock, could I make the UI use Cross, Triangle, etc?
I just got my gaming PC hooked back up and haven’t used launchbox for a year. I swear I remember you used to be able to open each emulator from inside launchbox in order to program the controller but I can’t find anything to open the emulator program itself from launchbox. Please help.
I have several romhacks that wont launch at all. Double click them and the wheel spins like something is happening on the cursor the nothing. However if I open retroarch and manually navigate to the rom it loads no problem with the default core selected. All other regular roms work fine. Im at a loss?
I am using the free version, I have about 30 games installed but the software uses 17GB of RAM of the 64GB that I have just by opening it and my PC slows down every so often. It doesn't feel fluid. If I buy the license, will this be resolved?
i mean that the game shown on the list will move after x time to the game after it and so on....
So I have LaunchBox on my desktop which is hooked up to my TV so I can use it like a console with BigBox, but as I’m getting it all set up, it’s giving me some trouble. Some consoles like the N64 and GameBoy launch perfectly fine with no issues. Some launch into a black screen like the Sega Master System. Some launch but are choppy as hell, like the Sega Saturn and PS1 (my hardware is more than capable of playing it) SNES launches 2048. Then some don’t launch at all, like Switch, NES, and GameCube
I set up retro arch on it for everything, then set up Yuzu on my own. And switch games run perfectly fine when I launch directly from Yuzu. Honestly runs better than the switch.
Does anyone have a clue what’s going on?
I am having an issue while setting up some emulators. Whenever I launch duckstation, snes9x, or dolphin, the mouse cursor goes invisible until the program is closed out. This only happens when launching these emulators from bigbox, and other emulators don't seem to have this issue.
If there's anymore info I can provide, let me know!
EDIT: I figured it out. I had to go into LaunchBox, Tools>Manage Emulators, Edit the emulator giving me the issue, click "Startup Screen" and then uncheck "Hide Mouse Cursor During Game"
I have been trying to add PS1 Roms to Launchbox and everytime I try, this error message pops up.
This is what I do:
- Tools-import-roms
- Click Next
- Add Folder-Select Folder where PS1 Roms are
- Select Sony Playstation as platform
- Choose RetroArch as emulator
- Error Message Pops Up and forces Launchbox to close
I have also tried adding the .cue files instead of selecting the whole folder but I get the same error. Importing Dreamcast, Gamecube, N64 roms all worked fine so I do not know what the issue with PS1 is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Now that we’re seeing emulators popping up on iOS, do you think we’ll have an app for Launchbox on there soon, akin to the Android app? It’d sure be cool, as Launchbox has become my go to.
Just setup launchbox today, but I can't get achievements to work. I'm signed in on launchbox, I enabled achievements in retroarch on launchbox, I've scanned all of the games, updated all databases. But all games still say no achievements available.
I'm at a loss. Anyone know what's up?
So I like to leave one particular MAME game running, it's the game the cabinet is themed for. All good... the game runs sometimes for a day or two, sometimes for a few hours... but eventually, on it's own, the Big Box interface ends up visible again full screen, but, MAME continues in the background. (I can still hear the game's attract mode running, and can alt-tab back to it).
If I select and run the game again from Big Box when this happens, it does not return to the previous MAME session, but instead launches another instance of MAME, and then runs the the game twice simultaneously.
I'm not seeing any windows notifications, that might cause this... just at some point MAME and BigBox trade focus positions. Kind of annoying.
Any ideas out there? Anyone else experiencing this?
