I've had a bad bite for as long as I can remember. My older sister has the same open bite problem, & when they tried to fix her's (in the early 90s), they didn't see great results, so my parents thought it would be a waste to try & fix mine, therefore never did. I had an expander when I was in junior high, but that was it.
I've always wanted to get my bite fixed, but I put it off due to the cost. It is gotten to the point where my jaw hurts most of the time, I get headaches, & I get an especially painful click-pop when I open my mouth too wide (yawning). I'm 36, & I feel like this is going to get worse as time goes on. I made an appointment with an ortho just to see what we would need to do to fix my issues as well as how much it would cost. I can't afford the (probable) thousands it would cost even after insurance, but I would rather have the information than not.
My appointment isn't until next month, but after finding this sub, I wanted to join the community and learn more from others who have experienced something similar.
The pictures are of me with my jaw completely closed.
