Yes this whole sub is, they always tells you to get tank gear. I did 100 runs all around 7 mins each with full rune neitz and dragon weapons. Just don’t get hit with mechanics and it’s pretty easy no tank gear required.

Blood moon would shred you in rune meaning you’d either need to fish or get potions or possibly both each run. You ain’t consistently hitting 7 mins

In swapped to torags' chest and legs, and my kills were faster because I didn't have to eat
Same stats/setup (Torso/Dh legs) most of the time I eat 4 fish for all 3 moons, excluding the occasional blast from bloodmoon. I think most of the damage is failed mechanic evasion, and occasionally shitty rng.
70 at/def 78 str. I will prob Make a video since I started a gim with my friend and siblings now and looking to do perils again. I only resupply after runs btw they are all 7-8 mins, I will admit I did have colossal blade which shredded eclipse since nobody gets the colossal blade.
The trick is to wait for blood moon to have 100 health then you dds spec him, mostly always dies without dealing damage to you as you can get 3 specs when he goes into arr phase before he heals.

Telling people to get tank gear doesn't mean they are afraid of it. I put it off until I had tank gear because I kept getting blood moon down to 50, only for him to hit me a bunch and heal back to 200 after a few swings. Waiting for tank gear is a sanity check on blood.
It's a guaranteed kill if you dds blood moon 100-140 health when he switches to att phase since he won't have a chance to heal before 3 specs and its 4+ extra per dds spec. Well I guess this may be due to people following guides and not experimenting with gear or weps, which I did. Blood moon was easy and i got all the achievements and never needed to resupply in between runs, Yes if you fk up blood moon pools and jaguar you will have a bad time but it's very easy to avoid after the 3rd time.
I'm talking by experience man I have 100 runs in full rune, neitz, and d weapons/colossal blade + d def. Currently my setup right now is full rune, z axe + dragon sq shield and have 50 runs of that, it's a bit easier with the tank shield but mechanics are the same and seem to use the same amount of food or one less.
The mechanics have nothing to do with tank gear, not sure you have even done the boss before...
Their auto attacks will still hit you even if you correctly stand on the glowing moon phase, and when you get hit, stacks of a debuff unique to each moon will begin to stack, making your kills longer. You would have shorter kills if you wore tank gear.
Unless you are an iron or just too poor to afford Torags, you probably just flushed at least 30 mins of your own time away because you got angry at non existent redditors, which is actually kind of hilarious.

I mean you can absolutely setup a Rex-only safespot pretty easily on a low level account and just mage him down. I got 20+ kill trips on my iron that way.
If you bring blood spells or full guthans and a shit ton of anti poisons, the true limiter is iban’s staff charges

IMO, by the time someone is killing Rex they should have d square or crystal shield to help with that plus blood spells.
Getting an early zerker ring is worth the hassle of ragging it with rune armor. You can also use a granite body from barb assault which helps a lot. You really don’t need to wait for blood spells.
You don’t need blood sure, but if you don’t want to deal with 10-15 kill trips you would need those spells. Honestly no idea why’d you do Rex before DT anyways.
You can get 20-25 kill trips using only Ibans blast and low stats using rune/granite. No idea where you guys are getting 10-15 kill trips from.
The main reason you would want to use Ibans over blood spells is the rune cost at that level. Using Ibans you can gather all the runes you need by raising cats.
You just need to blood spell in the wanter rangers and you always go for ridiculously long. Without ancients or range tank though it can be rough.
Tbh I was never really limited by not having enough food. Most of the time I simply ran out of super antipoison. Rex also drops food on occasion.
tbf rex IS brain dead once you set it up, and x logging is super simple. can do 20+ rex kills per trip on a shitty low level iron these days.

I had never done bossing in runescape period, it was my first ever attempt. I was using god book, no shield, which increases defense against the rangers by at least 50% in my experience.
15 kill trips is at very entry level, and B ring isnt required til you start actual bosses. My point is that rex is definitely brain dead even on an entry account. I just didnt think comparing rex to perilous moons was a good one, because rex is a joke, and PM is actual boss content with mechanics and a real gear check.
You should be able to use all your supplies and fill all empty inv slots with bones in a low level rex trip, so you can't do many more than 15 anyway. The bones go a huge way towards getting 70 pray in the early game. My inv for early game in rune+granite shield+iban's blast w/66 defence was: 2 Antidote+, 3 ppots, 1 super defence, a rune pouch, rest karambwans, which is plenty to get out with 20+ kills. I'd actually recommend going earlier than I did too but you know how easy it is to get caught up in other grinds.
One of my irons is 70 def using full rune except dh top and veracs helm. I have no problem staying until I run out of antipoisons
This is a perfect example. You simply can't. You'll get hit way too hard by the water creatures
rune kite shield + 70 def had me getting 16 kill trips at 60 mage. the shield makes a ton of difference, and doesn’t affect kill speed at all really.

This is a very important comment. The defense skill does a TON of heavy lifting for determining the accuracy of whatever is hitting you.
To give you an example: under my current stats (70 defense) with full torag, glory, barrows gloves, mixed hide boots, dragon defender, zombie axe and fire making cape I have a defense roll of 29,406 vs black demons. If I were to raise my defense level by 10 (making it 80) and subbed rune plate for torags chest my defense roll is actually higher at 29,656. So yeah if you have high stats you could do it with rune but the lower your defense stat the higher you should try to make you ultimate defense roll.
Where are you getting that percentage from? The point of my post was that with 80 defense (as opposed to 70) you would have a higher defense roll with a rune plate (80 slash defense) over a torags chest (120 slash defense).
This was in support of the comment I was replying to saying that telling people “you can do it in rune armor” is kind of case specific because your stats heavily effect the effectiveness of any armor bonus. To give you more insight: the difference between using the rune plate vs torags plate in my original example with 70 defense is a 26,286 armor roll for the rune plate setup and a 29,406 armor roll with the torags plate (so a 3,120 armor roll increase) or 11.8% improvement to your armor roll.
Also it’s very important to get your armor roll higher than the thing hitting you. For example Dusk who has a LOWER attack skill (200) than blood moon (258) has an attack roll of about 13,376 against that 70 defense full torag set up we’ve been discussing with a chance to hit of 23.75%. If we sub out only a rune plate for the barrows chest that hit chance goes up to 26.30% and if we sub in rune plate legs and neitznot helm as well that hit chance jumps to 31.76% per hit. And this is an NPC with a lower attack rating than blood moon and doesn’t factor in the amount of times blood can hit you in comparison to dusk and the fact that he heals off hits.
If you were to compare the torags set up discussed and sub a crystal shield for the defender compared to a rune set up with Neitiznot helm the chance of a hit (from Dusk) is 21.93% vs 31.76%. That’s a 30% reduction in the amount of times that boss is landing hits on you and, again, he has a smaller attack roll than blood moon.

No worries, I like going through the analysis as I think a lot of people might find it helpful. The calculation that determines hit chance really isn’t well known by the community and it wasn’t until these bosses came out that defense stats of items became Uber relevant as prayer was king.
Now with the blood moon boss and his mechanics of hitting through prayer and healing based around actually landing hits, the arithmetic becomes more relevant and I don’t even have it down yet. Like let’s say blood moon has a 25k attack roll, what is the sweet spot for my defense roll before a reach a point of diminishing returns? 30k? 35k? These are important to figure out because a 4% better chance to have blood moon miss an attack might not be worth sacrificing a 1-2 increase to your max hit.

You're on an ironman sub, those are not early game items
They are absolutely early game items regardless of account status, if bandos is midgame, and torva is late/endgame, something has to be early-game. Especially considering stat and time reqs.
e: Torso reqs only 50 ranged for MSB (and clues), Nezzy some basic questing, climbing boots basic questing, glory either 76 craft or 80 Hunt and often isn't even better than Str ammy, b gloves just basic questing, zerker ring ~40 def 60 hp 60 mage 43 pray minimum, fire cape ~70 ranged to not make it take an eternity. None of this is hard or overly time consuming to get, often barely having 1m xp in the skill or less. The start of mid-game is Bowfa/Fang level gear, as it represents more of a true middle to gear progression and a big jump from your early game dps. If your best weapon is a zombie axe, you're in the early game.
Just because you're an iron doesn't mean you're locked to shit gear, you just actually have to do the grinds to get it.
I think our biggest disagreement here is you are considering BIS as the only late game items. If Bowfa is the start of midgame for you that's fine, but for what I think and what I've seen those are insane requirements to enter the midgame.
The way I see it is "what grinds are there left in front of me," and if you're in say nezzy-fire cape level gear, well the answer is "the entire game except for 0.0001%" and your gear/stats aren't good enough to do virtually any of them yet. Whereas unlocking Bowfa/Fang enables you to farm the entire bulk of the game, hence the beginning of the "midgame" which is typically full of ~20-40h grind items that over time enhance the power level of your account. Then once you're fully powered up with midgame gear you go for the late-game/endgame grind items like Raid Rares (not commons), Heart, Nex, NM, Corp, niche spec weps, clogging, stuff you went dry on, etc.
Account status is going to play a huge difference. You can't just buy a blow pipe to cheese fire cape, and you have to get to 80 crafting to get a glory. Berserker ring isn't that bad since you can safe spot rex.
On an ironman you have to solo bandos which will require some pretty high end gear like fang, whip, or bowfa. id definitely consider it late mid game to late game. I'd consider barrows and moons of peril as midgame content because by the time you have the gear to consistently do that you will have some decent stats to back you up.
For early game I consider Obor, Scurrius, and the other bosses you can do with rune equipment and minimal mechanics as that level

I don't know why you would do rex in full rune given that you can get a Granite Body cheaply from BA, but it's very easy, I started at 60 def and ended at 70 def doing a few trips a day with Iban's, on my first ever trip I managed 9 kills (while tanking multiple hits due to fuckups) and was getting like 30-40 by the end. Just need to bring good quality food and super antipoisons. Xlog to set up and you're far more time gated on waiting on Rex to respawn than on dps or number of kills per trip, since even with a bare minimum setup you can get 20 kills with a couple of food drops.
I did 300+ runs with rune armor and 75/85/70 in combats. I died 4 times total.
I wouldn't even consider myself good at pvm.

erm, I do it with Nezzy, torso, rune legs, and rune kite. It's absolutely fine. 75 attack, 75 strength, 70 defense. Sometimes it gets close, but I haven't died to blood moon once.

It depends. Rune can be a perfectly acceptable option to fill out an otherwise decent setup. A single barrows piece, fire cape, good melee stats, decent metal boots, barrows gloves, good hunter/fishing/herblore, a decent weapon and (probably most importantly) piety. Maybe a good shield for bonus defense.
If you are trying to run moons at base 50 with just full rune armour, a dragon scimitar and none of the above upgrades, yeah, you won't do very well.
Ran into the exact same problem. Went to Barrows to get a tank chest and legs. Came back and it made a world of difference.

I did it with 60/75/60 stats with rune kite & legs, neit, fighter torso, b gloves, climbing boots. I ran out of food 2 times before I got it but it’s doable for sure, and I’m not an elite pvm’er
It's not even the mechanics, you can dodge everything and it just outheals your damage if you get a bit unlucky. It's definitely doable and arguably not even hard, but very frustrating with low stats/ gear
Yeah the two times I tp out I had it around 50 hp and just wasn’t able to out dps the healing. The jaguars take some getting used to if you’re not good at ticks
Move onto the circle when the noise stops which is a little bit after it finishes expanding but before it shoots up

Yeah holy shit even with barrows or 3rd age plates that I spooned it happened more than once that it healed like 200hp during the fight without me making mistakes. On my main it's ez with justi etc but damn with lower stats and gear it can be rough. The other two are easily doable on any level.
I still use rune plate there and it’s no problem.
You’ll need to use a quality shield instead of a defender if you’re sending in full rune, plus steelskin/piety
Blood moon is fucking ass without at minimum barrows top/bottoms. It’s perfectly doable most of the time but I’m having to use almost a full inventory some kills and other kills is like 4 food.

it is VERY nice and is what helped me jump start my kingdom. it can be braindead at times but usually i just try and do 3-5 runs a day when i play. one round takes like 10 mins and the upside on items and orbs is very nice.

Thought I was the only one who felt this way as I only see people praising it. It's some of the most boring content i've done in a long time.
While I agree to some extent, blood moon is still overtuned compared to the other bosses there.
There is a RNG threshold you have to meet before Blood moon is easy. At 60s across the board and full rune (without piety) you will be in an RNG standoff with blood moon. Sometimes taking 2 or 3 cycles or running you out of food.
I went to barrows, got tank legs and body and 70-80 defense and piety. Blood moon can still randomly annoy you with RNG 3rd hit but always goes down in 3 or 4 food. The balance (blood moon) is terrible for entry level, good for mid level and a snoozefest for anyone in full tank gear.
The reason I enjoy the content is it does introduce you to mechanics and allows you to play without any investment into supplies along with decent drops/gear for midgame.
I've found bringing my dragon sq (or other best shield) to be pretty helpful on blood moon. You really don't need the extra max hit or accuracy from the defender you just need her to never hit all 3 and it helps a ton. DFS would be a dream here if I ever get a visage.
Blood Moon shouldn't be healing for 30 HP on a "1" hit. It's absurd.
After having done around 20kc at moons on an iron with max gear/stats it was a breeze. Made a new acc and with 60/70 stats and full rune it's a reality check haha.
Getting tank gear is basically a pre requisite for perilous moons imo. If you have tank gear and a weapon switch for each boss then it is extremely chill.
Dragon plate and legs with neitz helm, obby cape and shield and zombie axe and I was struggling. Got bandos gear and it’s much more doable for me now.
If you have lots of weapon and armour available, sure it is. Try doing it on restricted accounts and you get the challenge. Blood moon makes sure you get good gear and stats or die

I'm sub 100cb 70 Def and no use of any tank gear. Barely use food like 6 fish per run? 8-10 if I get really unlucky. People going for ridiculously huge exaggerations saying you need barrows gear, a shield this and that. Like if you don't massively fuck up the mechanics you get at most 12 (6-12 depending on rng/moon) damage rolls? Most of them being 0's because super Def + piety is way more than you need. And just a zombie axe completely sends them into orbit

I’ve seen people in full torva consistently mess up the walk-around on Eclipse. I absolutely suck at PvM, but I managed to learn all the bosses and get most of the combat achievements in a single day
