Doctor removed the skin from the corpse's fingers to obtain the fingerprints.
R3: No porn/goreDumb question, would it be easier to do this using the corpse’s hand?
probably from a mangled hand, the skin cuts are kinda random so probably those are the only salvable parts
I've read of this being done when the skin is sloughing off, as when the body has been in the water for awhile. The hand 'degloves'.
How long can I stay in water before degloving hands become a problem?
You can probably stay in the water right up until you die before degloving would begin.
Boiling water? Much shorter timeframe.
Maybe, but if the corpse was too badly damaged you probably apply the pressure to get the prints
When human remains are desiccated or saponified etc, the hand is placed in a fabric softener solution and the dermis puffs up and is easily removed. The skin is placed over the “live hand” in order to apply correct, even pressure and get a good rolling motion for positive contact around the entire finger tip, palm imprint to be matched in AFIS and other databases.
Gill Grissom award goes to… yeaaah WHOOOOO are youuuu !?!
It is, but it's less fun
"I swear the hand was perfectly skinned when we found it! That's why we're trying to find who it belongs to so we can give it back to them! "
That's the kind of dark twisted humor I was looking for.
He gets paid by the hour
The fingers would have shrunk by that time so getting a good print wouldn't be possible.
Having worked with hundreds of decedents, their hands get pretty stiff - to be fair, I never had to fingerprint them. This doctor is definitely using a technique I’ve never witnessed, but I guess it’s easier.
Brother ewww
Yea but then you don’t get to wear the skin glove
They probably didn't get permission from the authorities. I can't think of any other answer.
What makes you think they didn't got a permission to use his hands to take fingerprints but do got a permission to mutilate the hands for the same purpose?
My only theory is that instead it is a corpse donated to a medical school and here they are practicing in a very very strange way
It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again
That was my first thought!
I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate this
Shake it off hand shake it off hand shake it off hand shake it off hand shake it off hand shake it off hand shake it off
Put a ring on it
Imagine going home to your spouse and telling them you wore someone else's rotting hand as a glove that day at work 🤢
me too ew
Man....imagine jerking off with it
Am I dumb as hell? Why did he need to remove the skin for this?
I think that sometimes a corpse is too damaged to put pressure on the fingers, maybe a drowning victim, when you press on the hand to get the print, the skin just bursts. Safer to remove it, let it dry and print them like a glove
It’s common for tissues to shrink, so the dead person’s fingers were probably all wrinkly. If the skin is remove it can be stretched out again, and you get better prints. As other people have said, it’s also possible the skin had already sloughed off, or there was a degloving injury. In other words, the skin may have already been off the fingers.
I've taken a few dead bodies fingerprints on cards like that, and I am trying to think off a scenario in which I would need to wear the deceaseds skin like a glove to get it done.
I see a lot of people suggesting the hand is shriveled. The skin is still malleable, so ordinarily water would simply be injected under the pad of the finger, or a quick hardening embalming chemical known as feature builder. This would puff the finger up for a couple mins and give us time to ink the finger and get the print on the card.
The only reason I could see this being done was of the skin was already not on the hand, a deglove victim. I find it rather unlikely that what looks like a coroner would remove almost the entire hands skin. The colour also doesnt quite look right for normal decomp, usually theres a gradient of grey skin from fingernails to palm, with the meatier sections of the hand not really turning grey. This hand is greying evenly, which to me means that it is dehydrating evenly as if there was no tissue below it, or degloved before decomp.
Or I'm getting the context wrong and this is just some students in an anatomy class fooling around after practicing some procedure to remove skin. But then again, the colouring still looks a little off for institutional embalming
Not an expert, just making some informed guesses
Edit for another guess:
I once spoke to a member of the RCMP underwater recovery team, and he was explaining that drown victims often will have the extremities degloved. I cant recall exactly why, something about water flow or how the temperature effects early decomp. But he did say this is something he's had to do before, because the hand doesnt support the skin enough to get a print.
Would have included this in my earlier reply, but this conversation was a long time ago, took me a sec to remember it
Another edit:
I remembered the reasoning for the degloving, its because of the wrinkling of your skin. That being said, I dont know exactly why that causes it, but it separates the top layer of skin from the hand. It also stretches it, thats why the guy in the video can wear it like a glove even over real gloves
Post is locked and deleted, so enjoy the extra context whoever was curious enough to come back
I’m similarly skeptical that he’s wearing the actual corpse’s skin. Could they not do a sort of latex mold based off the cadaver’s hand?
Its possible, but I dont see it being very practical. Plus the way he tugs on the palm seems a little to resistant for latex, and like it would tear silicon. I think its real skin. If its not then this guy needs to start working for movie studios cause thats a pretty convincing prop
I also find this whole post very morbid but after all, this is a much simpler solution than a latex mold
Happy cake day!
I didn't even notice! Thank you
You're welcome
Get a fucking NSFL tag on this shit
Yeah bro I don't want to see this without being given the option to
Not safe for what??
Not safe for Life, and I concur
Not safe for limbs
Not safe for literature
This one varies person to person a lot. I generally agree with NSFL tags on gore, but for me, this is mildly amusing/gross rather than full on NSFL.
Which is to say, this probably won't get a nsfl tag.
I'm guessing they took the skin off because the skin had shrunk, and you can't get fingerprints from a hand like that. 👍
In case of advanced decay fingerprinting is considerably difficult, if not impossible, because of the softness of the finger pads due to putrefaction. The skin forms into a wash skin (what you get if you soak your hands too long in water)
Often such things as taking the skin from the deceased hand off, soaking it in glycerin to re hydrate and then forming the skin around a suitable model or real hand can yield usable prints. There are many methods to retrieve finger prints, each one depends on the circumstances like the condition of the corpse´s fingers. You want all moisture being removed to achieve a good print.
A methode with high effort is a thanatopractical processing, in which fluid is extracted from other parts of a body's remains and used to restore tenseness and volume to the fingers in order to plump them for printing.
I added pictures, where you can see the ifusion of a special liquid into a radial artery of a deceased corpse´s arm, the before and the after picture.
Jesus Christ, how about a NSFW tag?!?
I’ll haunt the ever loving fuck out of someone’s entire bloodline I swear
What if you’re murdered and that’s the only way to identify you
I think it's fake and I'll tell you why. The finger nails. I've had my fingers smashed from work on a number of occasions and had them fall off after a week or so.
The finger nail goes pretty far under the skin, like almost to your first nuckle but in a downward angle so when you remove it there is large hole.
These appear to still have the nails which would be hard to get your fingers in the skin or cause the nails to fall off the skin. And if there were no nails there would be holes.
Your fingers fell off multiple times? What?
Forbidden glove
This was a corpse??? What looked like moving fingers??? Wtf??
Yup. They're wearing the corpse's fingers like a glove.
He just did a thumbs up with his own hand??????
Yes. He doesn't have the entire hand, just the skin from the palm and fingers. Look closely at -0.23
This is known as an ‘epidermal glove’ technique. It is occasionally used where there is an urgent need to identify a deceased individual who is at a certain level of decomposition. At certain stages of decomposition (or in certain environmental conditions) the epidermis can become detached from the dermis and can be removed and worn in this manner to obtain inked fingerprints.
Other techniques are more commonly used where the need to identify the individual is less urgent.
If people are interested then there is a whole load of information out there about other surprising techniques to obtain fingerprints, including the removal of hands and/or boiling them in water and other solutions to rehydrate the skin.
So why not just take the fingerprints directly from the hands of the person. And also like a previous reaction, why are the nails still on the skin? I call bs.
doctor removed the skin from the corpse's face to do a mugshot
I can’t scroll Reddit during breakfast anymore
Now jack off with it. Bet it feels like an entirely different person!

This is a new level of degloving.
This is double gloving
But ... how? why? I ... I mean ... Is that legal? that can't be legal? I mean ... I'm so confused about everything.
Why would it be illegal? Fingerprints were needed and he wasn't using his fingers anymore.
I am kinda surprised they would put them over somebody else's fingers, rather than a prosthetic or something
And if they need a facial scan, yes they will wear the face as a mask.
it puts the lotion in the basket!
This is one of those things you just finger out.
That's the weirdest looking glove I've ever seen
r/degloved should stay closed.
Alarming to see but neat if that’s what works
Think this is wild, just wait to see what he uses as a condom.
Ok, Ed gein
Yo OP put a fucking NSFW tag next time
Seems like there's a way less creepy way to do that
This is a new got your nose thing?
So the hand got fillet.
If the skin don't fit, you must acquit.
Does anyone know why there’s a cross on the form?
what s the chance of misuse?
What did you do today at work? - Oh I wore someone’s skin like a glove
I’m not sure if I would prefer to do this before or after eating
Dr. Gumb
It rubs the lotion on its skin
this guy gets me
Would've loved an NSFW warning before casually seeing someone wearing someone else's skin
Was the corpse a blow-up doll that had lost its air? Why not just take the fingerprints directly?
Nails and everything
One of those "never thought this was a thing" moments
The forbidden flapping glove
When they fit like a glove
That's fuckin groooooossssss

I dont easily throw up, but this made me want to throw up more and more as I watch it.
Necropants next?
Mengele moment
For his next trick, removing the face to unlock the person's iPhone.
Why not use the finger as is?
That's nasty
Now this guy can commit any crime and they'll never know.
Did he do it?
I see Ed Gein got a mortician's license.
I feel like vomiting, am I allowed to do that on Reddit?
Hand's off to you.
I just vomited
A very healthy mind job
Okay wait... Why would they need the finger prints in the first place?
You haven't thought of the smell
Nsfw
At first glance i thought why did she rub the glove on a charred finger to get a fingerprint. Its not until later i realized she degloved the dude and is using his hand as a finger puppet.
The forbidden fingering
A giant’s corpse? 🤔
Why is it fitting like an XXL glove? I get that the elasticity is no longer in tact but damn
No way that shits real

Wonder what will run through his head next time he licks some sauce off his fingers? lol
Did he eat his liver too?
Well, now, I've seen that.
That is so gross. But you can't deny that it fits like a glove...
Oh- Oh those whole things are them
Balenciaga got scooped
Dr Lecter?
So question here, safe to assume he won’t be using his hand anymore, why we collecting his prints?

You are a liar.
How the f*ck is this not NSFW tagged
It took me half the video to understand what was happening.
umm so why do we need a corpses fingerprints?
Why the hell was that necessary?
Bros enjoying himself
Forbidden finger puppets

I'm just glad he's trying fingerprinting with this technique and not a retina scan.....
If the glove fits..
That shit looks so fake . Where's the proof that whatever he's using is real.
